I find it very interesting that a cardinal can be convicted and jailed for the criminal mishandling of Vatican funds, but simple priests suffer no such consequence for the criminal sexual mishandling of the children under their care. Why aren't Catholic parishioners bringing this clear case of hypocrisy to their hierarchy's attention. It appears money has far more value to them than their own children.
I think your point is very pertinent, and there is no comparison between the value of a child and any amount of money. The scourge of child abuse in the life of the Church cannot be ignored and never should be. From my understanding, at least in my country, the Church and state work together to provide justice for people who have suffered child abuse and for their families. That includes imprisonment of clergy and/or recompensation. Nothing can make up for the harm done by abuse but efforts are made.

Blessing is not a reward for goodness or a sanctioning of anything by anyone. It is an invocation of God's love and His mercy upon sinners. All of us need that; and all of us are sinners.
