- 11 November is Veteran's Day. So, we wanted to do something special for our Tactical Rifleman family; and share a small slice of an upcoming video with CSM Rick Lamb, about Generations of Change with gear & weapons. Again, that's a different upcoming video. This clip is from the end of that video, where Rick talks about the Gear that he wore during the Battle of Mogadishu, back in 1993. You all have seen the movie "Black Hawk Down." Rick was there.
CSM Rick Lamb is great American, total badass, and is the guy with the worst/best luck, depending on how you look at each situation. Google "2015 Bull Simons Award" and you'll find just a glimpse into this great man.
Here's the CZcams Video: • U.S. Special Operation...
I hope you enjoy our video as much as I enjoyed hanging out with Rick.
Strength & Honor, TR

“godammit i just got killed”
hell of a reaction
As my vision faded and the world became pin sized, I yelled, "Germain! They killed us!"- SPC Shelton thinking only to report to his presumed vaporized Sergent the blast, chunks of building and road over taking the HMMWV.
He may have read, studied Thee men of the past/current and totally been copy catting but it was probably an great moment to realize they where alive and only 3 casualties.
Heroes for sure 🇺🇸 I had the pleasure of working with Drew Meyerowich and his account of the battle is very interesting as well..
Thanks Mike.
i dunno. Meyerowich was my BDE commander for a while while i was Drill Sergeanting at Jackson. he told his story about how he saved the Ranger in Mog. every time he told it (cause he told it a LOT) made it sound like he, himself, personally saved all the Rangers. it was a running joke amongst my fellow DSs where we would joke about how COL Meyerowich would fireman's carrying a Ranger whilst dragging 2 Rangers hooked up to a tow strap behind him or some BS like. we would each try to make the story more elaborate and creative as we retold the story.
BUT....in fairness, he was a good commander. he didn't mind the DSs making life hard for the Privates. one day i was CQ and had the soldiers on extra duty "rebuilding clearing barrels" by moving the sandbags from a clearing barrel on one side of the barracks to the clearing barrel on the other side of the barracks, and vice versa. he came by doing leader checks one day, asked why they were doing that. Told him they were on extra duty and they were improving the structure of the clearing barrels. He just smirked, nodded his head, and said "carry on". Respected the hell out of him for that cause most of the commanders we got to the basic training environment were.......weak (to put it in a youtube friendly wording).
Shrapnel to the head, bleeding, in the middle of a gunfight, driver injured, 70+ casualties. Still has a guard shift.
A'ight. I'm a head out.
My Sergeant Major in the 3rd ID during OIF 1 was Bob Gallagher. He was a platoon sergeant with Task Force Ranger on the ground in the fight in Somalia.
Best NCO I have ever known.
One of my SWAT cops was a marine at the embassy security detail during the battle. The Ambassador wouldn’t release the guard detachment to reinforce the rangers during the battle because”if they loose the fight out there, they’ll be coming here next”.
Man that's hard to read. Not a tough decision there Ambassador.
It’s an honor to share this day with you gents RLTW!
Rick Lamb is truly one of the most remarkable, hard, gifted and caring soldiers I ever served with. GIANTS do walk among us. It’s an honor to know him.
RLTW/DOL
Good god we need more men like this.. makes me ill to see what kids are calling heroes now.
Raise your own right and maybe they will turn into leaders like this some day. That’s the only way to fight it.
Well said..
Plenty of us idolize the same people you do, don't feel downtrodden and think the world is ending.
2nd that
Since when were heroes the ones who invaded other countries and murdered millions of civilians?
What a joke!
I spent my career at 2nd bat Aco , we grew up with the stories from Mogadishu. Every man on that mission are hero’s . Well done . Keep fighting on the the ranger objective
RLTW.
1st and 3rd here, and for sure. Them dudes were gods.
Cco 2nd batt
@@ViktoriousDead what years?
Michael Durant was from my home town and I remember him coming to our school (his mom also worked there) and gave his account of the battle. I was in 8th grade but still blown away. You're all heroes as far as I'm concerned.
Listening to two old vets BS’n will never get old
"I'm an infantryman, you should have left the scar. You should have given my a Sgt Barnes scar." This guy is 100% dude. Men wear their scars proudly as proof of life.
Thank God for all of our heroic vets. May you all have a blessed Veteran's Day and thank you for your service and the sacrifices of all veterans families.
I'm honored to even be in the presence of these two men, if only by video. Living Heros
Loved it - thanks. DOL
Fascinating introduction! CSM Rick Lamb is obviously an intelligent, well articulated, witty man, with a fantastic sense of humor. I had heard about him in the book "Blackhawk Down." You two will make a great team, SGM Erickson.
This was awesome. One of my Drills in the Infantry was a band new Ranger in Mogadishu.
Thank you both my brothers for serving...Happy Veteran’s Day!
I was at 3/75 in the 90s ... My squad leader then, SSgt Hines talked about CSM Lamb... both of them were my idols. RLTW

Complete other breed of human. Much respect. Both of yall. Positive vibes.
Jesus! This guy is a fucking LEGEND! You yanks make 'em tough! Talks so calmly about it! Max respect from A Brit who served in Desert Storm, now with the Aussies.
God bless him. Thank you both for your service. Glad he is still around to tell his story.
Rick was a legend when I knew him in Korea (84-85) and he was an E6 then on his way to SF Q course. Any Ranger I ever spoke to had an amazing story about him when I asked "Did you know Rick Lamb?" He has been there and done that.
He's one brave son of a gun! Sounds like and looks like from his story and his gear that Blackhawk Down was actually pretty realistic!! Happy Veterans day Karl! To you and all who came before and after you, God speed and God bless America!!🤜🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸
I served JSA from 2008 to 2010. And I met him at JSA Veterans meeting in Korea, 2015. He also participated JSA gun fight in 1984. It was honor to met the legendary hero of SOF and had conversation with him. Thank you for your service.
In Front of Them All!
Hot damn, gents -- Happy Veterans Day, God Bless, and God Bless America.

Wow. I am looking forward to more with him! So much respect! Thank you both for your service.
Man, this is so cool. After I got in the military, I truly understood their sacrifice. True heroes for sure.
Rick lamb what an inspiration I'm a UK vet who PTSD Karl and his team and guests truly make me feel that there is a purpose to stay in the fight everytime I see randy he manages to put a smile on my face with his mustache....
My first year in the Army was in 1993. I was just out of basic when Somalia happened. My first unit was at Ft.Benning. I worked at the ASP. Almost every day I would hang out with Phipps and Floyd. I got to talk to many of the Rangers who were in Somalia. My Ordnance unit just got back from Somalia also. I wish I could have been there that fateful week. When I saw it on TV we all started to push wall lockers in anger. We had to be ordered to stop. I suffer with the guilt of not seeing combat.
Now, there's a MAN! God bless you and thank you for your service.
Thank you kindly
Loved it. Thanks Gents! Glad you’re both still with us.
Very cool! Happy Veterans Day!
Absolutely amazing!!!! Thank You for sharing for everyone to realize the reality of WAR.
I Sincerely thank you from the bottom of my HEART! THANK YOU SO MUCH. love from Gainesville Ga
Watched both Part 1 and Mogadishu and learned from you both. Great presentation. Thank you for your years of service!
Big surprise for you... part-2 comes out tomorrow at Noon EST, Merry Christmas
Happy Veterans day and thanks for sharing much appreciated.
Our pleasure!
For us, civilians, sometimes it's hard to understand the sacrifice these people made. Most of the veterans I know are good, dependable people and friends for life!
Having written this, I would also like to give a shout out to my grandfather, a WW2 veteran (not with us anymore). He rarely talked about the war, but when he did, the hair on the back of your had will stand up. He was a great man and a role model for me!
Very heartwarming video, I'm glad you guys reunited!
As long as I have been following this channel, this is one of the most moving and awe inspiring of the true American sprit of our warriors. Thanks so much for sharing.
