The Costa Brava Coast & Sant Grau - Cycling Inspiration & Education

- Stretching 256 kilometres from the mouth of the River Tordera, northeast of Barcelona, and running all the way up to the French border, the Costa Brava coast was named after the Mediterranean's wild and rugged coastline. Temperate winter conditions and gentle rolling roads mean it has a lot to offer for cyclists, so we thought we'd check out a 46km stretch from Sant Feliu de Guíxols to Lloret de Mar. Naturally it wouldn't be The Col Collective without a climb so we take a slight detour and head inland for a 6.3km climb up to Sant Grau, where the views get even better!
Start: Sant Feliu de Guíxols
Finish: Lloret de Mar
Distance: 46km
Highest point: 475m
Elevation gain: 1,051m
Sant Grau Climb
Length: 6.3km

I hope you enjoy the ride!

Too bad that you no longer do this videos. It was such an inspiration to watch all these years. 🤘🚴♂️
Love doing this road the other way round, love the sound and the views of the sea next to me, one of my favorite Mediterranean roads.
Now that's the way to start the work week. Thanks Mike.
Did this road, including Ermita st Grau, for three years in a row now and want to go back again! :) Thank you for making this video guys. Sweet memories! For the ones planning to go to that area: rent your bikes at Dave and Saskia from BikeBreaks Girona. Great shop, great support!

Yesssss great video as always mike!!!
Another great video, brilliant production.
Love the vid
stunnig ❤️
bravo!
Yet again a superb video Mike. I did this ride a few years back while based north of Barcelona. It is a stunning coastline, however it is worth pointing out that this coast road can get very busy indeed at certain times of the year (July and August in particular). I have ridden in the area in both June and September, the weather was perfect and the roads much quieter.
By the way it was good to meet you when you popped by our home during the Haute Route Pyrenees.
Keep up the good work.
Mike
Can't wait to be in Girona next January. Going to be teaching some English, doing some bikepacking trips. Don't worry...im a Spanish citizen ;). Great video! Those roads looks soo smooth lol
Thanks for the amazing video. Could you please put a link to the music being played in the video. Love it.
In winter and springfield are my training roads
I'm jealous.
Beautiful video as usual...Thank you, CIE.
Any one has any idea of the name of that piece that starts playing around minute seven on the video?
Nice Mike. The area is stunning and you capture it well. Any plans on doing Mare de Deu del Mont? The opening panorama on last turn before the summit is mind blowing - my pitiful phone shots are disappointing - only you can do it justice!
is it possible to share the name composer info of your bgm used in the videos? They are really nice
brillant video, what about the traffic? we haven't seen a car?
I'd like to know how Mike gets comfortable on the bike ?
Can you please share the route?
Beautiful! Is the car traffic pretty quiet along this stretch of road?
Kelly Oram in my experience outside of the major cities and tourist centers there's virtually no traffic on the roads in Spain you just need good gears to get over all the hills and mountains 🚴
Head out early to avoid any tourist traffic, that's what we always do :-)
In summer there is a lot of traffic in these roads, specially between Tossa and Lloret, in contrast to winter, when there is almost no traffic.
So, in summer, go early and avoid traffic and too much sun.
I was on this very road a few weeks ago (end of September), and the stretch from Sant Feliu to Tossa is fairly quiet even during the day. The road from Tossa to Lloret is substantially busier, and is also much wider.
