- Hey everyone,
I hope you're doing great! Here's the first "vlog" video on the channel - hope you'll enjoy it. I've been training at altitude from more than a week now and here are some key highlights.
Let me know what you think and what you'd like to see in next week's episode. But stay also tuned because shoe reviews return next week :-)
Take care,
Alex

Thank you for taking us along. Love the beautiful scenery!
Thanks for your very nice comment, I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed it. Take care
Great to see this update Alex!
Thanks Cameron! Happy you enjoyed it and thanks for tuning in :-)
This was cool to see, Alex. Lots of pros train in St. Moritz, I wonder if you saw anyone famous? I' ve never been at altitude before, but it' s really hot here right now and they say heat is the poor man' s altitue training, so yeah...😁
Hey Robin, loved your comment haha...yeah heat is great too and some people respond even better to heat than to altitude (although you don't produce the same substances in your blood with both!). I ran on the track at the same time as Daniela Ryf if that rings a bell and saw a French bronze medalist from Rio but in sailing (there was a race on a lake up there when we were there). But everyone looks mega pro on the track so I certainly did not recognize some people haha. Take it easy with the heat!
Amazing footage from the alps. Great, Alex.
Thanks to you for tuning in, Michael!!
Hope u had a good time in St.Moritz. i was training there in July for 2 weeks. There u find the most beautiful trails in the world
Hi Roger! Nice to hear you were there...which trails / sites would you recommend most? I'm already gone in the French Alps now but always good to know for future stays in St Moritz. Cheers
Looks like fun. Great footage!
Many thanks, Julian!
Keep up the great work!
Many thanks, Chad! Very encouraging comment!! Cheers
Beautiful footage! The shots are amazing and I wish I was there!
Many thanks, Thienan!! Take care
Bonjour Alex. Quel décor de dingue, on sent à travers la vidéo la limpidité de l'air et la fraicheur vivifiante de l'altitude. Cela me rappelle mes Vosges natales.
Excellent content and some epic shots today. Altitude training camp looks amazing and I’m really looking forward to the views and updates next week.
What is the blue singlet? It looks super breathable.
Hi Andy! Thanks for you nice comment :-) not sure which one you were referring to: the dark blue is a 2019 (or...18) Nike Aeroswift, the light blue/white is the 2021 Meta Endurance team kit.
Lovely scenery. I'd probably just go for long bike rides and mountain runs if I was there.
Do you have the possibility to go to a lower location for your hard sessions and do the "live high, train low" thing?
Hi Lukas, excellent question: for bike intervals this is actually what I was doing when starting my reps at around 800m amsl and then ending the session up there in St Moritz. But my runs were all at high altitude (I would have needed to drive down in the valley, which is not necessarily what you want to do when you have a track a lakes with great paths so close). Have you already tried the LHTL method yourself? I read a lot about it and the LHTH method too but lack some "real feedback". Cheers
@@AlexFilitti Thanks for your answer. Sadly I'm not not in a position where I could justify any sort of altitude training. Especially without any proper races in the near future. There is however a great video on altitude training by Dylan Johnson that explains the benefits of LHTL in a pretty convincing way.
Great Alex! Do you have a team? Somebody is helping you during your training?
Hi Daniele! No team with me in St Moritz, but I was there with my girlfriend who helped a lot for many logistical aspects (and also a bit of filming ;-). Hopefully in the coming years I can organise the same type of camps with my team of coached athletes, that would be awesome for sure! Thanks for the comment and take care (not too hot in Rome?!)
@@AlexFilitti sorry for my late reply. In Rome we have 37/38 so i run 5.30 in the morning and an easy run at 8 pm. I have been some days in a small town called Rendinara ( Appennini mountains) was wonderful!!! 😊
Great content Alex!
What device do you wear in your left arm?
Hi Tuan! In my right arm I have the Supersapiens glucose monitoring sensor and on the left one it's a heart rate optical armband from POlar (OH-1 if I'm not mistaken). Hope this helps :-) Take care
@@AlexFilitti Is heart rate armband accurate like the chest strap Alex? and do you prefer armband to chest strap?
Thank you and have a great day bro.
Chest strap will always be more accurate than any optical heart rate sensor, but that being said the armbands are very very close. The Polar ones are literally spot on 99.9% of the time. And yes I do prefer them, easier to wear and they don’t block breathing in hard efforts like chest straps can do for some people!
@@AlexFilitti yes I agree with you. The armband doesnt block breath like chest strap. So, I will think about it that I should buy an armband or not.
Thank you so much.
Alex....who's behind the camera.....put them on camera with you.
HI Dominic, It's my girlfriend who helped with the filming (ans some questions ;-) the past week. Maybe one day she'll appear on camera if she agrees, but "step by step" - but I'm sure your comment will be a great incentive for her if she happens to read it! Thanks a lot and take care
@@AlexFilitti maybe you can incentivise GF with title like DUROMETER VALIDATING EXECUTIVE or EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS, 😜
Keep up the great work.....you're REALLY MAKING A DIFFERENCE......would be interested to see you investigate Skechers Speed Freak, as durometer, stack, roller and outsole nearly sound perfect Saucony Endorphin Speed TITLE CHALLENGER
I will submit those ideas Dominic, but in any event thanks I’ve had the best laugh of the day thanks to you. « VP of Durometer affairs » sounds like a position nobody can refuse 😉
SpeedFreek review may arrive at some point but I’ll have lots of shoes to catch up with once I come back home and the Skechers isn’t as great as it may look on paper…great soft heel but the forefoot is very harsh and overall the ride may only work for a few.
@@AlexFilitti you can advise GF, that if she meets her KPIs as VP of Durometer.....she might just get the big job, as Managing Director of Alex Affairs. 😜
