- They were the first U.S. soldiers to set foot in this remote corner of Logar province in more than three years. Deployed to support an Afghan battalion, they did not intend to engage in combat. The Taliban, however, had other plans for them. “Our role wasn’t really to fight,” said Lt. Graham Hennig, a platoon leader with Dragon Troop. “It just so happened that the fight crept it’s way up to us.”

I Know The Enemy sniper missed, but for 1300 M away that was close as hell...
I thought the same.. You could see the bullet hit the ground 5m infront of him and it had the right angle to be hitting the soldier if the enemy sniper had aimed slightly higher! Lucky dude =)
Fosphor Or if that fly didn't fart.
I was thinking the same thing. He has some skill, probably been fighting a long time.
Especially that he is using a dragunov which isnt accurate by any means
@@mik55tv22 You need to go shoot one and not just listen to what video games say. PSL's are very accurate, sub-minute.

Give it couple o days.
Yup! Because at the end of the day, both groups are Muslims. They have more in common than they have against each other. In the 1980’s, when the Taliban were fighting the Soviet Union, they were America’s ally. Look how that turned out.
@@totallyfrozen The Taliban weren't fighting the Soviets. It was Mujahideen, the Taliban showed up from Pakistan during the civil war that came after the Soviet invasion.

"Leaving the fight to the ANA" LOL that is suicide. At best the ANA are incompetent, and at worst they are complicit.
I was in Fob Zangabad ,our last mission was to "support" the ANA , pretty much pass the torch to them ... yea they controlled fob Zagabad on their own for like 2 weeks and then most of them just decided to go back home and say "fuck that " they are like kids once they saw us leave they stopped giving a fuck completely , I mean they have the brain of a 3rd grader ! they fuck each other in the ass and hold hands . Who was the smart guy that looked at them and said " yea they got this " all that we worked for was for NOTHING , and everyone that died it was for NOTHING , we pretty much just cut our losses with this war

I agree. It will be decades before the ANA will be able to secure their country. Most are to scared of the insurgents and will break easily

You guys are very lucky to constant air support Back in the day we had nothing
I think he means that nowadays airsupport is much more useful cuz of thermal image. It helps attack helicopters and planes see better, back to then it was way harder and if the us didn’t have it then they would have lost many battles in Afghanistan and taken many more casualties. It’s the only reason they win many firefights without it then they are as good as dead.

@@joshb7300 Not quite sure I follow, but I think you mean that our troops are fighting a war, one in which there is a hidden agenda? If that's the case, that would be a wrong statement. When our government is involved in some kind of hidden agenda, such as for oil, or valuable gems, or precious metals, the basic troop on the ground does not know, nor need to know that information. Their objective is to train the local populous to be able to fight for themselves, help farmers grow their crops, and even educate children. Our troops do a totally different job, and that is what most of us signed up for. Not to protect our countries riches. That is Political, not Militarily.

It's damn hard for the ANA. Imagine: Many times our (allied) troops would call in air-support, the Afghani troops have to fight it out on the ground. With worse equipment and less training (I know, it was difficult to train them i some cases, but still...). I wonder if they will be able to hold the ground. Its going to be hard for them.
Benjamin Fladder nope
They will hold some areas. Even before the war the Taliban did not control the whole country. From the perspective of US politics the war has been a total loss. We are now desperately trying to negotiate the same deal the Taliban gave us before we entered the country. We will probably get a worse deal than had we never invaded. But on the other hand Afghanistan is actually a better country than before we entered. Its still filled with poverty and human rights abuses. But the poverty is not as extreme as before we entered and the Taliban have actually moderated to a degree to gain acceptance in a somewhat more education society.
This is kinda the opposite of Iraq. In Iraq we did eventually achieve the political objectives. But in the process the country was set back at least a couple of decades.

Ringing goes away after a while in down time .
Lars Eriksson met a man in a Care Center a few years ago. He was part of a tank crew in WWII. He was stone deaf. He said shooting from inside that tank took his hearing. I visited him often while visiting my Mother-in-Law in the Care Center. Had to actually yell right in his face for him to hear me. He didn't have any visitors because they didn't like to yell at him.
The importance of hearing commands outweighs the worry of deafness in the future.
