We’re at the home of one of Israel’s most renowned and famous journalists, Gideon Levy. He mostly writes for the liberal newspaper Haaretz about the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
We start off with Gideon’s career path: How did he become a journalist? What views did he have as a young man serving in the IDF after the Six Day War in 1967? Did he expect the occupation to last for decades? Why did Gideon believe there could be a „humane occupation“? Why did Israel occupy Gaza and the Westbank anyway?
Then we turn to Gaza: Why does Gideon call it the „biggest prison in the world“? Why can two million people not get out without a permission from Israel? What does he think about Hamas rockets attacking Israelis?
Why does Gideon say that the train for a two-state solution has left the station? Why is a one-state solution the only solution left on the table? What does Europe have to realize? Why do Israelis have to decide if they want to be a democracy or an „apartheid state“? What does „zionism“ mean to him nowadays?
Gideon also talks extensively about his support for the BDS movement, antisemitism, Roger Waters and the lasting success of Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Wenn man eine (knapp bemessene) Hochrechnung macht, bleibt mehr als genug hängen. Auch 200 € für eine simple Übersetzung. Heißt nicht, dass ich den Content nicht schätze aber gegen Überbezahlung bin ich dann doch.
Klar ist es jedem seine Entscheidung. Du kannst dich ja gerne unentgeltlich hinsetzen; ich werde dich bestimmt nicht daran hindern. Meine Meinung habe ich bereits oben begründet. Tilo sollte es wichtig sein mit seinem Content möglichst viele Leute zu erreichen. Durch das Weglassen der Untertitel schließt er alle Menschen aus, die kein englisch können (und vielleicht sogar gespendet haben)!

Der Mann hat seine Standpunkte immer wieder und überall klar gemacht - und nicht nur er! Was hat sich geändert? - Nichts! Alles ist schlimmer geworden! Weil keiner auf die Stimmen der Vernunft hören will!

Das schöne ist, an so einem Format... das man, wie in einem echten Gespräch zwischen zwei Menschen, miteinander reden kann und auch mal einen Gedanken ausführen kann... also ist es das Format das die Qualität ausmacht.
Die Chance, die Herr Jung nutzt ist, auch mal „unangenehme“ Frage zu stellen, was Er auch immer ausnutzt.

And on October 7th 2023 Israel finally had to pay the prize. A horrific prize. A prize until then only the palestinians had to pay for not being willing to give up their home land voluntarily. But not the fascist government had to pay that prize but mostly innocent people, some of whom were engaging in movements for a just peace with palestine.

Thank you! I am from LA and the Persian community is very special! I am in Jerusalem now and it has been a hard week. Sadly, too many people were senselessly murdered and injured (people always only briefly mention those who were "injured") this week--including tourists. Tensions are high. Security is tight (as it should be!). But hopefully everyone enjoyed their respective holidays, and I hope you enjoyed yours!

My knowledge of the existence of Gideon Levy dates back to the 70s when I was still in high school. We obtained information about him at the time from certain specialist magazines and we could not even benefit from a photo of him to personalize him in the flesh. His articles were widely read and appreciated, and I myself keep graffiti in my memory several articles of him which helped me form a value judgment on the Israeli politics of the time. We were so impressed by his thinking and his courage, because he was the only Israeli capable of denouncing certain racist or criminal acts either by his government or by his fellow citizens. For this he enjoys an exceptional aura and unparalleled respect in both Moroccan intellectual and student circles. But since I had become a print journalist like him, I had begun to harbor certain doubts about his intellectual health; asking me a bunch of questions about its contradictory facets; because how is it possible for a talented journalist; who is at the same time a writer, to accept colonization? to live under the protection of an apartheid regime? to support the daily massacre of Palestinians? to never deny the lie maintained around the expulsion of the Jews from Palestine that another jewich writer has denied with supporting evidence ? And not to leave Palestine to save his reputation as required by professional ethics and the ethics of belonging to the family of writers ? I must admit that the analyzes of the historian Sclomo Sand are of impeccable clarity and that this intellectual is much more sincere; whose presentations are credible and scientific. Sclomo Sand does not go out of his way to tell the truth and from then on we understand why he is purposely put on the back burner; because his remarks disturb Zionists who do not like to hear the truth about the occupation. Sclomo Sand says he searched all the libraries for a single book on the expulsion of the Jews from Palestine two thousand years ago but found nothing. In contrast to this thesis, Gideon Levy's thesis is not clear at all.....
