Danny is so pure. So grounded and emotionally mature yet comically immature in the best of ways. I just admire the living heck out of him just being himself. Maybe that's why I resonate with his thought processes so much. For a moment, you can suspend reality and just pretend you're in the corner of the room leaking love heart emojis to his stories alone.

If my memory serves me right, the only books bigger than Harry Potter books are encyclopedias. That and Warhammer omnibuses. Your teacher saved you from going down a dangerous path.

I know this is about Dan, but I relate so much to Arin’s experience with that one teacher that ripped up his drawings. It’s not that I would get called on, it’s just that the teacher would see that I was drawing, confiscate the paper (even if it was schoolwork paper) and then send it to guidance, where they would analyze it. My counselor thought I was a psychopath just because I sucked at drawing back then.

I think they had this discussion in Zelda too, but they talked about how they tried to go back to visit teachers and weren't allowed to for safety reasons. But I would love it if Danny went to encourage young artists still in school.

Dan's king dinosaur story always reminds me of the day where young me and my very.. Unwise friends wanted to play Super Mario World. I was the biggest, so I was Bowser, and I would literally hold a bowling ball above my head and drop it at them. Glad I didn't accidentally maim one of those wild little pricks.

The first story reminded me when, the one time I decided to take art class in middle school, the art teacher didn't like how I was drawing something, so she took my paper, erased it and drew it herself. It pissed me off because don't take my paper. TEACH ME HOW TO DRAW IT, but don't just fucking draw your own thing. I never took an art class again because of the bullshit she kept pulling. Another time, I drew something I was really proud of, so I showed my science teacher cause he was a cool dude and HE DREW OVER IT IN PEN. I wanted to lunge across the table and strangle him, but, after a second, I just laughed cause he obviously did it as a joke and I knew he didn't mean to be malicious.
I can honestly tell you that high school/middle school teachers that do that don’t know jack shit about developing young minds. For example, during my junior year of high school, I had an English teacher that treated me like crap and in a roundabout way told me I wouldn’t amount to anything. Not only that, she was a terrible teacher from an academic standpoint because her lectures didn’t make any sense. However, luckily in my senior year, I ended up getting a new teacher who was the exact opposite. Her lectures made sense, she was willing to work with her students and treated everyone equally.
I was someone who really struggled in English classes prior. I was a C/D student prior, but with her help, I was able to raise my grades enough to get into college, where I got A’s and B’s. I ended up graduating and now write press releases for a collegiate athletic department while also doing some creative writing on the side. My parents randomly ran into that teacher in town one day and told her what I was doing and they told me that she was incredibly proud.
The point I’m trying to make is, if you’re a teacher molding young minds, you have to be invested into the kids you teach because sometimes it’s the little things they do that can make a huge difference.
I had an art teacher like that too! Like wtf. It is Art (different for every individual) Class (you're supposed to be taught.)
It just taught me to resent her.
The other art teacher on the other hand, was fucking fantastic, and hated that she did that sort of shit to the students. He never like badmouthed her or anything, but I told him about her just erasing my stuff and he looked so miffed. But then he was so sweet like "I can tell you know that's not how art or learning works, and that you know what she did wasn't right, so you're on the right track here."
I'm no brilliant artist, never was, but I was trying my best. I'm a solid 12-14 years older and I still feel outrage over that.
Amazing how "little" things like that stick with us when we're young.

Do Ma if it was an ultimate “best of” dan compilation I’d maybe get worried, but this would just be the lamest send off ever. Besides, even though the lovelies love to always whisper rumors about the two getting tired of game grumps or each other, I have a feeling that couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m sure they experience times when they are sick of each other, as would anyone who has spent every day for the last 7 years with the same friend. I think they are both still literally “living the dream,” their dream. I don’t foresee either of them giving this up willingly!

I wasn't paying attention for a second, just listening to the sweet stories of Dan, when I thought I heard him call a farting wall one of his closest friends.
I will donate several hundred dimes to Game Grumps in order for dan to create a very long book/audiobook detailing the many stories of his life, all that he can remember, in one book that I can own proudly and enjoy for the end of times
This is a really sweet idea for a compilation. I love hearing Danny’s stories and having them put in chronological order is pretty fun to listen to.
I can relate to Danny's experience with getting dropped while crowd-surfing. I was hitting up concerts right after I got out of high school and really got into crowd-surfing. The last show I went to before leaving for basic training in 2002 was a rock festival at the Mt. Hood Meadows and Static-X was the band currently on. I got carried all the way to the mosh pit and had resigned myself to getting trampled horribly when I got there. I was suddenly dropped into the pit and was bracing for impact on the ground when I was stopped suddenly and about a dozen sets of hands caught me and threw me back up to finish my ride to security railing.
Man I miss those days.
Any photograph of young Dan growing into current Dan ruins my head canon that one day he literally just woke up like that. Thus does not actually exist

This video has set me down memory lane...by reminding me of Arin's bafflingly stubborn refusal to ever use the shield in 3D Zelda games.
“1997. I was a senior in high school.”
That’s the year I was born.
My 3rd and 4th grade teacher (the same person, it was a really small school) was like Dan’s kindergarten teacher. She brought an acoustic guitar to class and encouraged us to sing along with her and do dance moves that went along with it.
She was also just an awesome teacher in general, if we asked her for a hug she’d give us one. If there was a fight at recess, she’d get us all together, only allow one person to talk at a time and try to figure out what happened, then have us work it out together. As if compromise and problem solving are actual important things that children should learn. She made up stories with our names in them on the fly and I remember laughing A LOT. Sadly, she quit a few years after I left because both of her parents died (they couldn’t take care of themselves, so she was their caretaker) and she got really depressed. I hope she’s okay :’(
I'm not sure whats worse- the fact that I've heard all these stories at one point or another, or that I watched this whole thing straight through, even knowing that I knew all of these already
