*ANYONE WHO HAS QUESTIONS, READ THIS* After over a year of replying to comments and helping out people, I have decided that the comments section has more than enough information you need to figure out any additional issues you may have regarding Chromium. I have had a variety of different questions regarding the process, whether the virus was removed, and also have provided many viewers additional steps/ways to remove the virus if the above process failed to work. I advise you look in the comments to see if your question has been asked before, chances are it has - multiple times. If, however, you have encountered a unique error/have a unique question, feel free to write down a comment. Thank you.
Primal Penguin I have done this before to get rid of this but I keep getting a pop up that doesn’t go away saying There is a Reccomended update for your pc and when I click ok it reinstalls chromium, what should I do as I have to restart my computer everytime this happens
One thing you need to make clearer in this video is that in the final stage when you go to Edit and put in chromium and it finds a reference, that you need to click Find Next to continue finding ALL references. Some people may think that is simply the end of it once they find the first reference. They may think it is like File Explorer where it finds all references. Both text and the video dont reflect this. Oh and it is a good idea to look in your program listing to see that Chromium does not appear. If it is still there you have missed some registry entries. This should not happen if Regedit says "Finished searching through the Registry". Other than that excellent work.
Thank you very much, I was going to leave it until my son came for the holidays, but the pop ups started to appear every 10 mins. Couldn't stand it so went on youtube and found this video, followed it once and Bam! Virus gone... No More Pop Ups.... 👍👍👍
Very very helpful! Great work! You did it very clearly step by step! That last step where I had to type in to find Chromium , I had to do several times. Like you instructed, it kept searching and I kept deleting whatever pops into that blank space. eventually the search had no more. Thanks again!! Great job!! The other videos of other people weren't as good as yours. You did it it clearly !
I'm glad it worked out for you! Also, since you deleted everything and got rid of Chromium, there's no need to continue searching for it as many people make this mistake. Sometimes people find traces of Chromium and are alarmed, but there is nothing to worry about.

@@6decisive593 Here's what you can try: Open up the recycle bin and drag those files onto the desktop or some other easily accessible place. This way, they get removed without staying in the trash.
Hi! I've watched every video and tried everything, even installed some uninstalling programs with Forced Uninstall features. All I'm left with is a file called "Chromium diter" it cannot be deleted on the Regedit. I was able to delete all the others that popped up when I searched on regedit but this one just does not. If its listed under the startup processes in Task Manager, disable it and try to remove it again. If that fails, try booting up the PC in safe mode and try again. If the stubborn Chromium still won't let you remove them, then there is a complicated process which involves downloading something that will allow you to take complete control over it (but I do not recommend doing that as you may risk system instability and I would rather do a video about it than explain it through a comment). So, if you fail after attempting my first recommendation, then try downloading a quality anti-virus to remove it for you since you can't remove it manually. My recommendation is Malwarebytes. You can download it from the official website.

everytime i open up my computer to my desktop there is a random search bar on the top of my screen is that chromium? becuase i did all the rules and it is still there?

Save the image and upload it to prnt.sc and send the link so I can determine what the cause of the search bar is.
Yeah I am having the same problem there is a search bar at the top of the screen, after doing this all it is still there and is part of chromium I think
Just got the screenshot which can be seen at: prnt.sc/g0uqze the bar has been there ever since Chromium was installed - also to note my Chromium wont uninstall in control panel or apps
Do not worry if you are unable to delete certain files, just leave them. As long as there are no signs and traces of the adware, then you're good to go. The rest of the files are harmless.
Okay, thanks! I was only able to delete the chromium folder in HKEY_Current_User (chromium isn't in the local machine folder) I found another youtube video yesterday on how to delete chromium. That worked for me coz it didn't appear on my start up, and it's not in my task bar anymore. But it bugged me that it's still in my programs/features in the control panel (it still is until now, even after following your steps. Will restart my laptop soon, then check again) So I looked for another way.. then I found yours. :D Anyway, thanks so much so for your help and replying quickly! :D
You haven't tried uninstalling it in the control panel? Also, you're welcome! I try my best to help my viewers as fast as possible and explain things in a detailed manner. Nevertheless, as long as the annoying adware and popups etc. don't appear, you don't have to worry. Chromium is a real program, however, if you have accidentally installed it through 3rd party software, you may have installed the illegitimate version which disguises itself as Chromium. Also, traces will be left on your computer (like the folder) but again, do not worry as these types of folders/files are completely harmless.
Oh yeah, i tried uninstalling it there, but i can't :( that's why i looked for other solutions online. Yep, they don't pop-up anymore. And yes, i think it installed without my knowledge, along with a freeware i downloaded. I won't mind it anymore. :) Thanks so much!
hi. I follow the steps until the "registry editor->edit->find" step. This is when there's a Chromium file "ChromiumHTM". I want to delete it but a pop-up warning me that deleting this could cause system instability. Should I still delete it?
Hello, you do not have to worry about this warning as it appears in order to warn and prevent users who might accidentally delete an important file if they do not understand what they are doing. In this case, we are removing a virus and we know the file is related to Chromium, therefore we can disregard this warning as we know what we are removing. So my recommendation is delete it and proceed the instructions till the end of the video.
I followed all the steps, and I made sure all results where the same as yours. But the chromium search bar on the top of my screen is still there, and I can't get rid of it. It's always there no matter what. I also tried to uninstall chromium thru windows settings and control panel, but nothing happens. It just acts like it's going to uninstall it and nothing happens after that. Chromium is still there!
Try going through all of your browsers and look for Chromium in your extensions. If you can't find it there, resort to downloading an anti-virus and see if that works.
I have already followed your instructions. But when I restarted it, the chromium browser still pops out. And its icon is not the original chromium logo but a blank sheet. Help
when i go to edit and then search chromium, and i press delete chromium (which it found) it warns me for an instable system. should i delete it or is it a real problem?
If you are talking about the registry editor like at 2:46 in the video, and you try to delete a file related to Chromium, then do proceed. That is just a mandatory message to warn users (especially ones unfamiliar with what they are doing) from deleting essential files. But because Chromium is a virus, you can go ahead and delete it without fear.
I’ve deleted everything in regedit and all that and when I click on find, it says there’s no results for chromium, but when I check regedit after restarting chromium folder is back, but with only that default text thing, is that normal?
Can you help me?... "Registry Editor /Antivirus (folder) / rect_v8_APPSTORE_CHROMIUM " then when I want to delete it this happens "Deleting certain registry values could cause system instability. Are you sure you want to permanently delete this value?' .. I click YES and nowthis pops up "Unable to delete all specified values".... what can I do about this?
I believe this happens because that file may be within the vault of the anti-virus you are using. Try deleting items in your vault in your anti virus and see if that works.
Hello, I tried searching the comments section but I couldn't find the answer to my queries. After I uninstall chromium. search this pc for chromium, deleted and emptied my recycle bin. I went into Regedit and deleted all chromium related files I found. After I restarted, this specific file Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Chromium and its sub file BLBeacon would reappear no matter how many times I tried deleting them. Once in a while Chromium would appear despite me not installing it as well. Please help!
Try going to the control panel and see if there's anything that has chromium/web/toolbar related if not, then that's odd.. I suppose you can also try using an anti-virus (my recommendation is malwarebytes) to see if it can find anything. Let me know what happens
At 2:00 when you delete the chromium and blbeacon folder I have deleted these folders multiple times but when I restart my computer and go back to the registry editor to see if they got deleted they are still there. Am I doing something wrong?
When I am trying to delete any Chromium file, the error screen is coming and says that " you need permission to perform this action". What shall I do ? I cant also remove it from " Program and Features " and "Regedit" . Please tell me another way to remove this virus.
SOS! I followed the steps till the end, where the "Unable to delete all specific values" window pops up. To my horror, when I check my control panel programmes, it is still there!! Tried to uninstall it from there but it still shows :( What should I do
@TechExcalibur Manage to find a lot more chromium related files when I use Regedit Edit-> Find Next. Deleted them all and it finally disappeared from my control pannel. Thanks a million!! Gotta change all my passwords now!!
thank you so much sir finally i have deleted the chromium virus that since 3 days i have doing it and keep searching downloading a malwarebytes anti virus but unfortunately it doesn't work because the side by side configuration is incorrect or error
That's fine. The first step isn't crucial. I realized the files i deleted in the folder wee probably from Google Chrome and not the virus itself, but it's just good to do just in case.
So i followed other trustworthy tutorials on how to get rid of chromium. So i went to my C file and everything and put all of the chromium files in the recycling bin and emptied it. When i restarted, i still get the chromium web bar and I know that chromium is still lingering in my computer somewhere Edit: I just deleted discord cause I never use it anymore and now my desktop is organized to the way it was and my web bar is not chromium anymore (prob bc i deleted it from control panel) and i went to control panel and it still has chromium in the tasks and i tried to uninstall it but it just offers me to change it rather than uninstalling
Have you followed the part where you delete it from the registry editor in this tutorial? if not, do that first and then try uninstalling it from the control panel.
TechExcalibur Okay, I’ll try that right away. If I do that step then uninstall Chromium from my control panel, will it finally be gone from my computer?
What I would then recommend is force-uninstalling it through another program. You can look them up on google "program that force uninstalls" but the one I have used in the past is revo uninstaller pro. You can download the free version on their website.
i tried to delete as much as possible, but chromium still shows up on the control panel where the Program uninstall featrues are. i try to uninstall it but it keeps telling me to turn off/exit my browser, but they're not even open. There are no pop us showing up since it installed on my computer
do you know of a safe program that does this? That's all I really want to do, because no chromuim folders are found on my computer anymore, apart from that in my program features. I also don't see it running on my Task manager anymore since last night when i recycled some folders.
when I delete fisrt chromium folder, after Isearch again chromium on the CTRL F and appears 10 things more or less, in the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\OneSettings, i must delete all of that things too?
Really need some help here, I tried to download Minecraft forge, ended up with this. 3 hours since downloading and when I search through the PC in file explorer nothing comes up for chromium, I’m not a computer person and seriously hope my computer isn’t completely trashed now...
Your computer should be fine. Look in the control panel and see if you can find anything related to "search" "toolbar" "web bar" something similar to those that you don't recall installing and if you find something like that, uninstall it.
Hi there, I've followed your video and successfully removed Chromium the first time it appeared in April 2018. It appeared again in May and I removed it using the same method. Now, it appeared again. What should I do? My disk has been at 100% every now and then, for the past few weeks but I did not see Chromium on my desktop. I followed youtube video and disabled superfetch and diag when I noticed the 100% disk on 2 occasion. (just stopped diag). Now, I'm seeing Chromium!! I don't remember seeing it when I first switch on my laptop awhile ago
If you have used this method several times and it keeps appearing I suggest you try to remove it using an anti-virus instead of manually. The one I would recommend is Malwarebytes which you can download the free version from their official website. Also, have you checked if it appears in your control panel as well? If so, remove it from there after trying the anti-virus so that it may detect it.
That's a good question. Well, there some precautions you can take in order to minimize the chance of getting a virus. If you have an anti-virus, look at what options it offers regarding web browsing shields. I remember AVG and maybe avast had web shields. AVG, from what I remember, put check marks on sites that are trust-worthy. If you want to avoid the hassle of that, you can Google the website you are trying to download from to see if it is safe. Also, avoid clicking pop-ups and close them immediately. When you download programs with installers, read more carefully and un-check options which prompt you to download additional files. Also, avoid downloads that come in the form as installers of files which do not require an installer. For example, DLL files do not require an installer. Installers in general are still safe, however. When it comes to downloading, I typically look it up on CZcams and check the comments before downloading. If the video has removed its like/dislikes and comments, then I avoid it.
I followed the steps and it did remove it, however it still shows in the control panel that I can uninstall it... so is it still running in the background somewhere?
If you can't remove it from the control panel, install the program called revo uninstaller and download the free version from the official website and try to remove it through the program.

Thank you so much. This worked for me
Glad I could help :)
everytime i open up my computer to my desktop there is a random search bar on the top of my screen is that chromium? becuase i did all the rules and it is still there?
Hi, could you possibly take a screenshot of that and show it to me? In case you don't know how to do that, find the PRT SC button on your keyboard and press it. Then you can go to paint and paste it. Save the image and upload it to prnt.sc and send the link so I can determine what the cause of the search bar is.
Yeah I am having the same problem there is a search bar at the top of the screen, after doing this all it is still there and is part of chromium I think
I need you to provide me with a screenshot of this search bar in order to determine whether it poses a threat or not and how to remove it.
Just got the screenshot which can be seen at: prnt.sc/g0uqze the bar has been there ever since Chromium was installed - also to note my Chromium wont uninstall in control panel or apps
I honestly don't want Chromium altogether
You are amazing my good sir, thank you soooo much
Hello! I'm on the last step (the find chromium then delete).. it says "unable to delete specified values". What should I do?
There are 7 files found when I searched for chromium. I can't delete them all. :(
Do not worry if you are unable to delete certain files, just leave them. As long as there are no signs and traces of the adware, then you're good to go. The rest of the files are harmless.
Okay, thanks! I was only able to delete the chromium folder in HKEY_Current_User (chromium isn't in the local machine folder)
I found another youtube video yesterday on how to delete chromium. That worked for me coz it didn't appear on my start up, and it's not in my task bar anymore. But it bugged me that it's still in my programs/features in the control panel (it still is until now, even after following your steps. Will restart my laptop soon, then check again) So I looked for another way.. then I found yours. :D
Anyway, thanks so much so for your help and replying quickly!
EVERYONE make sure to search for chromium updater this is what updates it
How to del that default.. It do not wrks.. Evn after deleting all these.. The chromium is back
this worked for my, thank bro
I need significant help. It says my chromium files are no longer located in users app data local chromium update blah blah blah
Thanks bro
even my anti-virus AVAST FREE found a virus thanks this helped I am your 80eth sub and your 21st like
Thank you! It means a lot!
Why when I try to delete it says to me I need the Administrators
There is an unamed thing called (Default) with data (value not set) that it won't let me delete that I get when I search chromium
hi i do not understand when u deleted some file@ 2.54th minute ... it doesnt contain anything labelled " chromium " at all
That;s fine. As long as you deleted the main components, you;re good to go.
Help
Hi. Have you tried uninstalling it from the control panel?
I got rid of it but it still pop ups, I need help
Thank you Brother....
when i go to edit and then search chromium, and i press delete chromium (which it found) it warns me for an instable system. should i delete it or is it a real problem?
If you are talking about the registry editor like at 2:46 in the video, and you try to delete a file related to Chromium, then do proceed. That is just a mandatory message to warn users (especially ones unfamiliar with what they are doing) from deleting essential files. But because Chromium is a virus, you can go ahead and delete it without fear.
When I searhed chromium in the registry it came out with discord and spotify and steam. But I searched for it? Shouldi delete it?
So, only delete it if it says chromium?
I’ve deleted everything in regedit and all that and when I click on find, it says there’s no results for chromium, but when I check regedit after restarting chromium folder is back, but with only that default text thing, is that normal?
Yes, it's normal.
Primal Penguin alright, thanks a lot!
what is the name of the quick launch tool bar program on the bottom of your screen
Nexus
Do you have Google Chrome installed. If so, that' probably the reason why they reappear.
Primal Penguin yes I do
In regedit theres a key called “CLSID” with a bunch of chromium stuff in it but when I delete it it comes back. Can I get help with this please?!
Vincent During when I search for it after deleting the chromium things in redigit, they still reappear even though it looks like I deleted them all
When I am trying to delete any Chromium file, the error screen is coming and says that " you need permission to perform this action". What shall I do ? I cant also remove it from " Program and Features " and "Regedit" . Please tell me another way to remove this virus.
I have answered this question around three - four times in the comments. Try scrolling down to find someone with the same question.
SOS!
I followed the steps till the end, where the "Unable to delete all specific values" window pops up.
To my horror, when I check my control panel programmes, it is still there!!
Tried to uninstall it from there but it still shows :(
What should I do
@TechExcalibur Manage to find a lot more chromium related files when I use Regedit Edit-> Find Next.
Deleted them all and it finally disappeared from my control pannel. Thanks a million!! Gotta change all my passwords now!!
Glad you found your fix =)
Can anyone help it won’t let me uninstall any of the chromium files for me when I go under this pc.
this is the only fuckin video that worked perfectly
I tried to delete it and the little taskbar above is gone, but know its like invisible and wont go away. someone help me please
Can you try sending a picture of the screen or explain more in detail?
thank you so much sir finally i have deleted the chromium virus that since 3 days i have doing it and keep searching downloading a malwarebytes anti virus but unfortunately it doesn't work because the side by side configuration is incorrect or error
Glad you removed it!
is the first step important for the next, because it doesnt find the file in the first step. :/
That's fine. The first step isn't crucial. I realized the files i deleted in the folder wee probably from Google Chrome and not the virus itself, but it's just good to do just in case.
Thank god
So i followed other trustworthy tutorials on how to get rid of chromium. So i went to my C file and everything and put all of the chromium files in the recycling bin and emptied it. When i restarted, i still get the chromium web bar and I know that chromium is still lingering in my computer somewhere
Edit: I just deleted discord cause I never use it anymore and now my desktop is organized to the way it was and my web bar is not chromium anymore (prob bc i deleted it from control panel) and i went to control panel and it still has chromium in the tasks and i tried to uninstall it but it just offers me to change it rather than uninstalling
Have you followed the part where you delete it from the registry editor in this tutorial? if not, do that first and then try uninstalling it from the control panel.
TechExcalibur Okay, I’ll try that right away. If I do that step then uninstall Chromium from my control panel, will it finally be gone from my computer?
Update: I did the registry edit and followed the steps. I went to control panel and it still offered me to change the app rather than uninstalling it
What I would then recommend is force-uninstalling it through another program. You can look them up on google "program that force uninstalls" but the one I have used in the past is revo uninstaller pro. You can download the free version on their website.
everytime I open my pc it says updater
i tried to delete as much as possible, but chromium still shows up on the control panel where the Program uninstall featrues are. i try to uninstall it but it keeps telling me to turn off/exit my browser, but they're not even open. There are no pop us showing up since it installed on my computer
If you want to remove it from the control panel, try installing a program that forces uninstall.to delete it for you.
do you know of a safe program that does this? That's all I really want to do, because no chromuim folders are found on my computer anymore, apart from that in my program features. I also don't see it running on my Task manager anymore since last night when i recycled some folders.
I remember using a program called revo uninstaller. I believe there is a free version of it.
It said that an error in keeping me from deleting this file and or that the file did not exist
Do you see the file and is this in the registry editor?
THANK YOU THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH
When I try to delete the file It usually doesn't do anything or says that it cannot find its location any help?
By file do you mean the Chromium file on your desktop/folder or the file within the registry editor (regedit)?
when I delete fisrt chromium folder, after Isearch again chromium on the CTRL F and appears 10 things more or less, in the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\OneSettings, i must delete all of that things too?
And when i restart de pc, another times appear the chromium folder with the folder BLBeacon inside
But the other 10 files doesnt appear now... i dont know if its normal that the first folder appears or not
Really need some help here, I tried to download Minecraft forge, ended up with this.
Terminal Linux thanks man!
This isn't coming off my PC, I have done every step and I still find extra files of it.
Try running malwarebytes to have it find it and remove it for you.
One more question, how can you be safe about what you download?
Hvala puno pomogao si mi
Nema problema!
I followed the steps and it did remove it, however it still shows in the control panel that I can uninstall it... so is it still running in the background somewhere?
If you can't remove it from the control panel, install the program called revo uninstaller and download the free version from the official website and try to remove it through the program.
Does this remove the there is a recommended update for this PC pop up scam?
Nope, that's separate
