I felt the same. I see alot of people saying the the microphone doesn't actually work so it's really still the iPhone mic recording everything. According to Apple, this can be resolved in the settings if that's the actual problem. But yes, every test I've heard so far sounds exactly the same.
Great question. The answer is… kind of. It’s not a gimbal, but it does fold in a way where it’s comfortable to hold in your hand like a grip. And if you have a newer model iPhone or Android, there is usually some stabilization in the camera.

That’s the Apple adapter. It turns the lightning input into a 3.5mm input so you can plug in the microphone. 🙏🏽✌🏽
