Me and my Bros found a bug where you could pick the same characters. We all picked Oddjob and waited for my Uncle to come over without him knowing we picked him Jaws.
My friends and I used to find a wall that wasn't unique looking and stare at it so no one could screen look us, then screen look for them and jump around the corner when we knew they were close.
I miss the old LAN parties. 16 people all gathered in a room screaming at each other. 2 liter sodas bottles and chips being wiped out. All the shit talking and laughing.
Whenever I was told that my response was if you say that again I will start looking at your screen. If they did and then I would absolutely shit on them. Kills a friendship the first time but they learn real quick not to accuse anymore.
It's surprising how well this game just... worked from every conceivable angle. It's consistently fun, in both singleplayer and multiplayer. Apparently when Rare was making it they had no idea there were designing a great game to be remembered 10+ years afterwards as a pillar of gaming history, they simply went "oh, another movie-based game" and somehow turned that into glory.
I was 4 year's old when i first got 007 golden eye for my first n64 in the 90s when I was in school then just me my cuz just had a great time on this game great childhood memories
I remember playing this game against my dad. I always beat him, so he quit and never played with me anymore. Same thing with Mario Kart 64. Good times.
Joseph Waddell My Dad broke a controller in a rage one day. I used to turn radar off because I would still know exactly where he was every time he spawned!
Like me Whoever came here to revive this experience means that something it's not good in life making us thinking about the past how good was the childhood
I like watching how other fans play. Although I miss childhood, I don't regret anything because adult life aint half as bad as people complain it to be. It's in your interpretation of life. This game still kicks ass btw.
The only multiplayer shooter that i couldn´t get mad when killed... it was funny as hell. No competitive tryhards, no random screamer kids, no racist comments, no lag, no "im a pro" attitude, no hacks, no abusive behaviour... Ahhh those days after the pool and icecream and good friends.
Lol it really was. When it was four of you that knew the levels and exactly where friends were just racing towards each other it was game on. Too much fun
Growing up as an only kid with both parents working, was at a babysitter most of my summers as a kid. Her son had this on n64 and was so much fun when it was a rainy day and we couldn't go outside. And some of his friends would be over and it was just a blast. Miss the simpler times of life. Also, still amazed this mode was programmed by one dude. Absolute legend.
Me and my buddies juryrigged the inside divider of a cardboard box with duct tape in a way that we couldn't peak each other's screens. Those were the best days of our lives and we didn't even know it.
When my brothers and I were kids, my oldest brother always insisted on proximity mines in the temple, where he'd camp at the top after placing mines on all the doors. I'd get back at him when it was my turn to pick by choosing Slappers Only.
Goldeneye,Smash,Conkers,Banjo,PerfectDark,DonkeyKong,PokemonPuzzleLeague, JetforceGemini If it had a multiplayer friendships were being tested with it... Oh sweet youth.
Avoozl you can say anything had better multiplayer even halo but keep in mind Golden Eye 64 came out in 1997 three years before Perfect Dark did in 2000 on the Nintendo 64. That's why it was awesome because it was the first to do it on a console
+crashpal Duke Nukem 3D came out in '96 for the N64, so I wouldn't say it was the first FPS multiplayer. Either way, I played the shit out of both Duke Nukem and 007 multiplayer with my friends back in the day. Talk about nostalgia.
Sardonic88 same. I played the shit out of Golden Eye with my friends. One of the reasons why i always preferred offline multiplayer instead of online. Online Strangers are so annoying and disrespectful on voice chat
Probably the thing that made this truly great, you were playing in person with three or more of your friends. Just friends hanging out having fun. Multiplayer online just isn't the same.
This game never gets old, me, my brother, and friends will have a lil party with some pizza from pizza hut. We play all the popular multiplayer N64 games with some halo in the side and 007 Nightfire for xbox.

Definitely a trip down memory lane. Few years back I bought a 64 and a bunch of games I loved playing. Started playing and quickly realized holy crap this is hard. I don’t know how I played the game with those controllers. Needless to say it sits in my entertainment center as a trophy collecting dust.
Lost a really good friend a few years back. This game is one of the awesome memories I have of him. We wasted way too much time hacking those buttons and it’s time I’d love to have back…so I could do it all over again.
You done stepped on your own proximity mine! I was 17 when this game came out and was the multiplayer MASTER. I could navigate the temple and facility with my eyes closed
I used to ride the walls thru the map so they couldn't screen watch... I knew every board .... I will kill u before u got ur body armor or be waitin there for u to try a kill u... I think I was a master... I played in competitions at funcoland
Great memories playin this when I was a kid, as soon as we got to character selection there always was a mad race for oddjob and then the old woman haha.
This game mode and this map was one of the best, I found it very difficult at times to differentiate between mines and bullet holes in the walls lol then of course we would become paranoid and then think every ammo box was rigged with a proxy mine! 😂🤣 love this game!! ❤️
1999 - Friday night, four controllers, four rumble paks, four teenagers, four bean bags and a 15 inch standard television set. "No one pick Oddjob!"
every kid in the 90s in general every single word i love this game kinda wish there was a pc port but meh
My dad would literally ground any of us for picking Oddjob
Me and my Bros found a bug where you could pick the same characters. We all picked Oddjob and waited for my Uncle to come over without him knowing we picked him Jaws.
***** oh yeah your right thank
rickster4k how did you do that bug ? I read about it somewhere but never really thought of trying it out.
I used to play this with my dad growing up. He always would beat me but I always had so much fun. He passed away in 2010, thanks for the nostalgia!

I always shouted “what’s that on your screen” as I was sneakily planting a mine on the body armour 🤣
I like how it plays the Bond theme when someone dies
It also does that in 1 player
I haven't heard that theme in years
I haven't played this game in a long time
Same!! 💯
still no multiplayer shooter as good AND SIMPLE as this. This was no frills, pure fun.
Radient Productions cod is too you know
GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Halo, and Pre-2013 Call of Duty are the funnest local multiplayer first-person shooters. (Especially with 4 players).
Radient Productions shit AVP was better
I have friends from the era that just don't get it. I hear about perfect dark. But nothing was as fun and simple as this.
Perfect Dark was better and had way more content.
cleaner and a bit smoother too. but goldeneye was great.
Back in the day when "camping" was going outside with a tent......
A TRUE CLASSIC!! Goldeneye N64
You are not an FPS veteran unless you played this growing up.

but it seems all I can do now is love my memories of those days
If your patient, teach some new friends how to play and re-live it, when they get better!
