    ABOUT AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR
    This action-packed series follows competitors as they tackle a series of challenging obstacle courses in city qualifying and city finals rounds across the country. Ninjas who successfully complete the finals course in their designated region move on to the national finals round in Las Vegas, where they face a multi-stage course with up to 23 obstacles. The ninja who completes all four stages - including the final 75-foot rope climb - takes home a grand prize of $1 million. If no competitor finishes all four stages, the ninja that advances the farthest (and the fastest) on the course, also known as the "last ninja standing," will take home $100,000.

      @daneyuleb Před 3 lety +3

      @@bretttanton328 It's a stupid rule change that they haven't used for years and years and doesn't make sense to use now. Even considering Covid, having a handful more contestants advance isn't a big deal compared to the huge loss of solid, popular contestants like Nick Hanson.
      It's especially crappy because the average watcher has NO IDEA he didn't advance. NBC intentionally didn't show his time during the run, and didn't even mention him at the end. They knew how pissed off people would be. They want it both ways--- to cash in on all the good feeling by showing him in Alaska and hyping up his mega-wall run, but not owning up to the fact that their ridiculous rule change ended his season.
      $10,000 (minus taxes) is not even close to the money and benefits he lost out on by having his season end so soon.

      @AKmoneymakerPlayz Před 3 lety +3

      One other pattern I have noticed is that women who finish among the top men are put in the Men’s top 12 leaderboard, even though they have their own division. So while Jesse Labreck took a spot in both men and women, Nick Hanson didn’t have the opportunity to take both, so he gets the boot. Either put them all together or put ONLY MEN in the men leaderboard and ONLY WOMEN in the women leaderboard. Nick would’ve moved on if that were the case.

    • @exoteric_bb
      @exoteric_bb Před 3 lety

      Nick Hanson actually advanced. The reason he didn’t compete in the semis was because after the filmed qualifiers, they found out he had physical contact with someone who later tested positive for COVID, so he was sent home. So the producers decided to change the rules during editing to make it as if only the fastest times move on.

      $10,000 (minus taxes) is no where near what he lost out on -- ( cash and other benefits-wise) -- by not being allowed to advance this season. Horrible rule change.

    • @jacobplourde2388
      @jacobplourde2388 Před 3 lety

      This is completely fair it’s just for COVID beating the mega wall has nothing to do with this neither does finishing the course he was not in the top 12 so he did not move on. Besides it’s not like he would have won anyways so the 10k was kinda worth it and and the guaranteed advancement was not even created until s5.

    • @daneyuleb
      @daneyuleb Před 3 lety

      @@jacobplourde2388 s5 was 8 years ago! They've had the rule in place longer than they haven't had the rule in place! It's part of the game now, no need to remove it. 12 isn't some magic Covid number--they could of course accommodate more players if they wanted to. And... 10k is nothing compared to the benefits a player gets to their career and income potential for going forward. And the way NBC deliberately didn't show his time or mention that he didn't make it was obviously because they knew how angry the viewers would be at the stupid change in rules.

    • @sk10246
      @sk10246 Před 3 lety +2

      Jacob Plourde I get if it were due to that, and it kind of is. But when 2 people who didn’t complete the course get to move on due to Jake having won the power tower, but someone who actually completed the course in 13th place not being able to move on, that’s what is unfair.

  • @connerrock1164
    @connerrock1164 Před 3 lety +1

    For all those who are complaining that he got over the wall so he should move on are missing the point. They were trying to keep the finals field small. @Nick Watson [Student] Pretty sure that days after losing the Tower of Power to Jody Avila, he was arrested and didn't compete anymore.
      Here's a pretty good summary of what happened and the effect on his two chosen teammates from:
      www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/2020/09/drew-drechsel-american-ninja-warrior-season-12-results-team/
      Drew Drechsel and his two teammates were to be featured in the first episode of NBC’s American Ninja Warrior season 12, which has a modified format and filmed in a single location, the Dome in St. Louis this summer. This season, ANW competitors who’ve been on the show before returned, and each selected two other contestants from their communities to compete, too, though they’re not competing as a team.
      The Power Tower, which was introduced last season, returned for season 12 as a competition between the top two finishers. The winner goes to the semi-finals-and takes the two members of their team with them, even if those teammates did not qualify for the semi-finals as a result of their time on the course.
      That’s the one non-individual component of this season. While the all-star returning ANW competitors each have two people from their communities with them, they’re competing as individuals, not as teams.
      I confirmed with a person with knowledge of the production that Drew Drechsel did advance to the Power Tower on episode one of American Ninja Warrior.
      In episode one, the two fastest competitors were Jody Avila and Drew Dreschel, so they faced off on the Power Tower. However, Drew lost to Jody, so Jody’s teammates-Pauline Avila and Roget Maddox-will continue on to the semi-finals.
      Contestant Jake Murray, who came in first place during in the second qualifier episode, posted to Facebook, “props to Jody Jehudy Avila for his qualifying performance tonight” and added, “Let it be known that he went on to win the power tower as well like a champ!! It was against Drew and won’t be shown for obvious reasons.”
      -- What happened to Drew’s American Ninja Warrior teammates?
      Drew was completely edited out of the episode, following his arrest by federal authorities.
      But Drew’s teammates-Taylor Johnson and Julius Ferguson, according to a social media post-were not.
      Both of their qualifying runs were shown during the American Ninja Warrior season 12 premiere episode, though they were compressed into a montage, and no attention was paid to the sidelines where Drew would have been standing. Both Taylor and Julius both advanced to the semi-final round, which will begin airing in October.
