Your correct Paul, from what ive read in many forums, Mineral is the correct oil. synthetic oil can cause slight oil leaks in some seals. Also fill the oil fiter with oil before you refit. Great video.

Great job Paul just a quick note it’s always wise to pre fill the oil filter also so on initial start up there is good oil pressure rather than waiting for the oil to circulate and fill the filter up. Hope you don’t mind the advice. Also the oil on the new filter seal is just to lubricate for a good deal and stops them from sticking when you next remove it 😊
    Cheers
    Neil

Thanks for the advise Neil, defo don't mind any sort of advise and thas for letting me know about why you put some oil around the seal, i did enquire about filling it first but as you know these are old engines and where built as work horses not campers, apparently there is no need to do this and with the filter being on a angle it would be a bit difficult, had a run to day let it settle for a good few hours and it took another ltr, so all good, or is it ...... I think my theory about Mineral oil was wrong, i said to the wife this morning " Does it sound noisy, more that usual " and she said yes so i think i am going to go with semi synthetic

The reason you lubricate the new seal is to stop it twisting or distorting on the filter side which would happen if you had two dry surfaces ,not to help taking filter off.God's video as always Paul

If you was to fire it up for a couple of minutes on fast tick over, it will fill the oil filter up, then switch off and check the oil level again.

Fire it up so the oil can go in the filter, then check oil level
