This is the kind of music we need today, upbeat, positive and energetic. This band was a inspiration to all who appreciated the simplicity but brilliance these ‘rollers’ each individually had. Absolutely agree with this: great rocky music by this terrific band. I only discovered them during the pandemic and have stayed with them night and day since! Yes, they were all individually brilliant and possibly that's what led to the infighting later on, BUT they certainly had their moment in time and I hope the survivors are proud of their achievement. The Rollers rev-up a rock and roll storm again in this clip. I can never, never, think of them as a 'boy band' ; they were rock and rollers from way back and there is absolutely nothing 'boyish' about these stirring performances -- they were out to win hearts (and minds) and they knew how to do it! Yes the early recordings definitely were based around Derek's thumping floor tom rather than the high hat and Alan's great bass lines filling out the compositions. I do think they were also very good during Dedication but something happened during It's a Game. However on Rollerworld I have learned to love some of those songs from the live version - Eric brings the tunes to life. It's good that Alan was able to be with the band for Elevator, Voxx, and Ricochet even though those albums are sadly underrated - especially Elevator. He is also on the Live double album from 1983 thankfully. RIP Alan.

Having achieved huge success just prior to the release of the album "Wouldn't You Like It" , the last thing the people at the top wanted was a change of course and ruffled feathers .. By that point, the members of the Bay City Rollers were adamant about writing their own songs and playing all the instruments during the recording process .. People around them gasped but finally conceded ... The result was the classic album Wouldn;t You Like It, complete with I Only Wanna Dance With You kicking off side one ... The next album, Rock And Roll Love Letter was recorded in the same manner .... Anyone who says The Bay City Rollers are not among the all time greats just doesn't know their history or what they are talking about ..
This is a great energetic rock and roll performance by the Rollers and it's been well filmed: we see all the Rollers TOGETHER, moving to the beat as well as shots of the individuals. This is an exceptional recording. If it's not live it's certainly from a demo or recorded specifically for the show. This is a very rare peak into their early performance value. A bit dry sounding but this is not a concert hall!
it was contracted to re-record the song the same day as the show was taped. They had three hours to get as close to the original recording as possible. Eric said that was alot of pressure
Man, when you hit the drums so hard the microphone shakes...that's hard hitting! I like this version of the song..it's not the same as what was released by Arista in the US, it's better! (I will have to remember to share this tomorrow, it doesn't seem appropriate to share today-it being the anniversary of 9/11/2001)
