Prismatic Powders has over 6'500 colors for powder coating. Been powder coating for two years in my garage. Found a restaurant closing down and bought their old double oven. Took the middle part out of it and sealed it up better. Works great but I'm no pro, more like a one month warrior when buddies want something done. 👊

I have rough country side steps on my truck and they are powder coated from factory and I can 100% say that it's a super durable surface, even the foot pads are powder coated and I've had them for a few months now and they still look brand new, also I live in area with basically nothing but sand for dirt so you can probably imagine that my boots are probably grinding against that surface a lot

Me with my rattle can steelies. Didnt do the best prep but looks good at a distance.
You can powder coat plastic, it just requires a different type of gun, the gun burns the powder and when it lands on the plastic it cures
So it skips the oven process? Thats cool

I recommend Cerakote for wheels. Pricey, but really nice durable finish.
Hit up Promax Custom Powder Coating in Big Bend Wisconsin they have tons of colors. Full blasting and powder coat for $300 bucks for a full set

I just want to bring this to your attention. I log on Offset Custom to check out wheels. I put in the application of the vehicle and size I'm looking for . I scroll down the fist page and it would say 1 of 255 pages. But it wont let me go to next page. It worked fine a week ago when I was looking on Offset website. But all week it wouldn't let me go to the next page. Was looking until this Corona Virus come along. Now since companies are back to work in Mississippi. Started looking again but wont allow me to search different pages.

I think I’m going to go powder coat just for the durability and it fits my build more than anything else. My truck is going to be used more as a daily/adventure car and I like camping and hunting/ fishing so it’s got kayaks up top and lots of gear to carry. Typical 4runner stuff. Lol

I am assuming you cannot mix decals with powder coat in any way. Obviously one could put a decal on any smooth surface after coating but I am referring to protecting a set of tank decals for the long haul, usually by applying clear coat over the decals. But a decal in a powder coat oven under clear coat would burn up, correct?

I would do a paint because if you want a more glossy finish I think
You can still get high gloss from powder coating. I do this for a living at a custom shop. Another myth about powdercoat is that you can't buff or polish it. You actually can. I've wet sanded and polished wheels and bumpers before

Why hammerite vs powdercoat? In your experience it looks better? Sticks better? Is durable? Have you done both powdercoating and used hammerite and found the hammerite stood the test of time and just ended up being cheaper? Interested to hear more about your experience with thanks.

Great video. I'm curious I painted my exaust hmdi ports with a high heat engine enamel spray paint(Rust-Oleum) lasted 7 months before small chipping started which I believe pressure washing didn't help. Not to mention I didn't use a primer. Will a powder coat give me more life on these exaust ports?

Have a safari style roof rack 4’ x 7’ for my 4x4 SUV. The factory paint is failing and has a lot of surface rust. Should I sand the rust off and rattle can it or is powder coat the better choice?

I understand the pain of finding a competent powder coating place. Here most people don't prep and prime the metal properly.
So any black powder coated metal gets extremely hot when out in the sun.

A properly prepped, primed and powder coated piece of metal will not get hot when exposed to direct sunlight. Even black ones will not get hot. I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself. That epoxy primer makes a huge difference.

powder is always better for metal. idk what hes talking about depth. ive never seen paint come close to candy or translucent powders. Get your powders from prismatic powders and youll fall in love. never take your stuff to a powdercoater without browsing and purchasing your own powder before hand. Aging the metal and making it softer and more brittle, you know that happens when bake alloys to 200 deg C several times over in the powder coating process.
@@glitchtheory6609 350 degree F isn't hot enough to do anything to alloys. your not going to ruin a set of forged wheels by baking them at 350-400 degrees F for 10-15 min. its been proven over and over again.

And its 3 to 4 times those wheels get baked for a refurb and yes it can weaken the metal

I bet he would disagree that powder coating weakens the wheels seeing that his alloy wheel disintegrated while driving and he isnt the only one on the thread with a weakened wheel due to powder coating
