    You are my favorite Ming. Anytime I feel lost or overwhelmed as a behavioral therapist I watch your videos and it’s like being refreshed. Thank you so much.

    By far, the most useful video I have come across on the topic of language patterns. Very few explain the whys, and you did it with such relatable examples. Great stuff Ming, keep it up!

    You are the preacher on this way. So clear explanation. Patience and more words, especially verbs. No magic. I fight for my son learning verbs. I do looooooots of repetitions. Now he says. Mommy come, stand up, draw, look, see. Luckily, he understands that when I am role playing his phrases for him. But he doesn’t pick the verbs that are not necessary or not emotionally related. Look! It’s raining ☔️ are cool. But when in the car he unbuckles himself and wants to get buckled up again, he says door 🚪

    Ciao Ming! My daughter has more nouns than verbs. Great tip! Yes, we really have to model and teach more verbs both Italian and English.

    My child is 9 with ASD. I have always said he uses speech like Bumblebee in the film transformers. He uses kind of appropriate phrases to respond. When it's time to braid his afro hair . I tell him to come and get his hair done and he responds with 'it's haircut time'. He then happily sits nicely and asks for a device like a tablet or my iPhone. He doesn't want a haircut he loves his long hair but I understand he is letting me know he knows it's hair time and associates it with that phrase and chilling on a device. I am very lucky he has always enjoyed his hair being done even before a device was added to the mix😂 Thank you Ming you are truly awesome!🫶🏽🇬🇧

    A refreshing, logical effacement of what all too often seems to be a sensationalised ‘identity’, irreducible to a label or name; a kind of style even. All too prevalent in society!

    Great tip to help teaching him more verbs. I have been modeling a lot of nouns so he’s able to identify food or something he wants- but he definitely needs more verbs. He has none ….maybe “I want” or “want to go” he sometimes says to go outside or to play or swing.

    • @AgentsofSpeech
      @AgentsofSpeech  Před rokem +2

      @@AgentsofSpeech he uses it in context, which is helpful. He will take us to the kitchen and start with “I want” and end up saying a color (of his favorite snacks) or fruit he’s wanting

    In the case of a bilingual toddler with gestalt language processing what do we do..

  • @sandwichmaker98

    I wonder if my GLP 3yr old son IS even autistic…..if he’s always been struggling and battling his output processing, it makes sense to me why his emotions are dysregulated…why he had to learn to self soothe….years of not being understood, not knowing what he’s saying.
    What I mean is….I feel like if he WERE able to process language affectively, he’d be able to communicate his feelings, his problems, etc. he still has to use color names or numbers when he’s upset….he uses his comfort words in these contexts….unable to explain what’s wrong and what’s upsetting him.
    Just a thought or theory. He’s been experiencing “autistic symptoms” since basically 12-13m old….when I realized he was becoming aware of the language barrier he and his mommy and daddy had….it was a very hard few years…it’s still very hard. He’s learning new gestalts and we are learning them along with him….but of course that’s still only 40% affective maybe. And never affective to communicate his feelings or explain the situation for him.

    Do you mean... For the child to speak in a sentence they need to have atleast a number to words( how many axcatly)?
    For instance my son I believe knows a few words approximately 5-10 I think. So would you say that they may have a challenge speaking in a sentence. Because he has had said a sentence before obviously!
    So his words are no, go, sit , yeah when his happy likes to says no to everything. Even the good things coz I constantly tell him no when his wrong but sometimes even when his right he will say no. But he does use it in a right way 80% of the time and go always at the right time. We are constantly going somewhere!.. he loves outdoors. Anyway would like your input also again that wanted to say that he did and does suprise me most of the time. .the other day I had his dad's friends over and they don't understand or know autism so he tried to irritate him or annoy him buy trying to constantly make him play with him or give him attention so he got so fed up of crying and screaming and shouted Daddy....he will always say mommy but not daddy or daddy nooooo. It was a proud moment. He is very vocal in terms of sounds and in saying those sounds he does say words. I also believe he had a new set of words which he says once in a blue moon...like bye, baby and other words in my mother tough we have 3languages at home so I guess it comes from that. But also good pronounciation. Thank God.

      My son also learns like this but he starting to say “goodnight daddy” instead of “say goodnight to daddy”. He will still echo the initial phrase but then translate it to him. He is also starting to build phrases and words beyond copying phrases. We see he is starting to connect noun verb and object.

    How about noticing these habits in a 3yo boy with speech delay? Our SLP suspects stutter as he will also repeat each word on a sentence multiple times
