Growing Blueberries from Seeds to BERRIES Time Lapse

  • How to grow blueberries at home:
    The blueberries were germinated from seed in water and then planted in soil. Since blueberries bear fruit only after 2-3 years, the flowering and berry phase was filmed with a two-year-old plant!
    Overall 185 days of filming + 2 years of further growing results in this 2.5-year time lapse of growing blueberries from seeds to fruits!
    I would love it if you subscribe :)! Let me know if you liked this blueberry plant time lapse!

    I just sprouted about 20 seedlings from 3 blueberries I got at the store, I took out 50 or so tiny seeds from 3 blueberries and put them in wet toilet paper and covered it for a few weeks, today I potted up some more, some seeds will still sprout, it might take weeks longer, but it will be fun watching them grow through the years, I also have many other varieties of blueberry plants ordered online, well known names, this was all just a test to see what would happen and now I will have 20-30 more blueberries to add to my 20 well established plants 😂😂

I want to grow some different berries but the bushes are so bloody expensive, ive just been thinking of dropping some organic berries in planters to see if theyll grow on their own. • @user-sf9gs2pg1b
      @user-sf9gs2pg1b Před 2 měsíci

      It would not be likely to work since the germination process of the blueberries is a bit difficult. I asked ChatGPT 4.0, here’s what they said:
      “Growing blueberries from a whole fruit dropped into potting soil is unlikely to be successful for several reasons. Here's why:
      Seeds Need Preparation: Blueberry seeds typically require some form of pre-treatment before they will germinate. This often involves stratification, which is a process of simulating winter conditions for the seeds. Without this, the seeds inside the blueberry might not recognize that it's time to start growing.
      Decomposition Risk: Dropping a whole blueberry into soil and covering it might lead to the fruit decomposing before the seeds have a chance to germinate. This could also attract pests or cause fungal diseases that could harm the seeds.
      Seed Extraction and Cleaning: It's generally recommended to extract, clean, and dry the seeds from the fruit before planting. This helps in assessing the seed quality and ensures that only healthy seeds are planted, increasing the chances of germination.
      Soil and Conditions: Blueberries have specific soil pH and nutrient requirements. They thrive in acidic soil with a pH of 4.5 to 5.5. Simply dropping a blueberry into potting soil without ensuring the soil meets these conditions may not support the growth of blueberry plants even if the seeds were to germinate.
      For the best chance of growing blueberry plants, it's recommended to start with seeds prepared specifically for planting or, more commonly, from nursery-bought seedlings or cuttings. These methods ensure the plants are already past the difficult germination stage and are ready to grow under the right conditions.”

    Important tip: just like avocados, blueberry seeds dont breed true, and tend to produce fruit that taste different than the fruit they came from. You get far more reliable results, and will save a full year, by purchasing an already established plant, and even then you'll need to skip a year to encourage it to root. Those are not the only landmines either ... they also require extremely acidic soil, and ammendments to maintain it. You also need to pick a variety that matches the zone youre in, otherwise that 2 year process will be wasted, which further devolves using storebought fruit to a blind crap shoot.
    Blueberries require intermediate level gardening skill or better to be reliably successful. Ya gotta do the reading.

    get blueberries grown in your own country or they are likely irradiated if imported and wont produce a fruiting plant. Blueberries need pollination to create large crops so, this would not be idea to grow a single plant indoors.
