The new growth is where I was taught to take cuttings from. The softer wood roots easier. My mama bless her soul could cut anything and stick it in a glass jar and it would root.
The scientific reason for your moms success was pure hearted loving great people have a better bio electricity this is called chi by ancient Chinese or prana by Hindu or orgone or brill by Germans and American it's the earth and sun's energy you feel it when chills go up your back or hair stands up on arms during something emotional. Loving people transfers this to plants. I'm into Tai chi chigong and tebtian meditation tumo. This gave me control over energy so growing plants and healing them comes easier for me not to point of all starts working out but 6 out of 10 ain't that bad.
I could see the same with my grandma.. I always thought that was nonsense of mine childhood looking.
My grandmother had that ability also. She would not only root the tiniest of pieces, but grew them on and would give family and friends plants grown from generations of cuttings. She would never part with her original "baby sprig". I was in my thirties when she passed away and she had plants still growing that she'd cultivated when I was a child.

My mom could start plants in a jar of water. I seem to have a green thumb myself. Overseeded and everything grew. 50 celery. 35 cauliflower 20 broccoli beans. Potato chits. Cucumbers. Peas. Zucchini kale green yellow and provider beams. Lettuce romaine tomatoes herbs. All started. Outside in 2 days.

And the kangaroos were in her front yard and they were all in the schoolyard with the kids ❤️ and her daughters rescue little baby kangaroos and they had them in little pouches that they wore all day to keep the baby warm on the front of their chest what a great school project!❤😁 You guys are awesome! 😁 I did not want to come home 🤣🤣

I always use tip cuttings and plant them close to the parent plant, never have a failure. I cut the very soft top off, strip off 5 inches of lower leaves leaving 2 pair of leaves which I cut in half. Long stems are essential. I have noticed all my cuttings do best near the parent plant. No hormones or humidity devices needed. Worth a try.

@@vergesslich82 cutting the tips of the leaves off so there's only half a leaf left for the plant to keep alive as energy is rerouted towards rooting. :)

Blueberry bushes seem pretty indestructible. We planted some probably 5 years ago and when we had someone come and chip a bunch of bushes and trees down, they piled them directly on one of the bushes.
It sat under about 3 feet of wood chips for almost a year until we spread them in the yard where we found just the main branch.
Several months later it started growing leaves and now we have a full bush covered in berries 😄

I tested the timing of rooting blueberry cutting, in New England area, cut off top branches in early March while you have snow covered the yard and grow the cutting inside a room with 50 F degree actually gives the best result. The cutting wakes up in 4 days and starts to grow right after. You don't even need rooting powder, just insert it into a pot, cover them with a plastic bag and see the buds developing by themselves.

You didn't lose 7 plants, you got two free plants. Even with a low success rate, it's better than not attempting at all.
Plus, now you know which cuttings are more likely to root.

I was given 2 blueberry plants first time I’ve grown them ( U.K.) mine have lots of soft wood gonna try this

I've read many times that you should not dip plants in the rooting powder bottle but, instead, you put some powder in a small container and dip into that. This prevents infecting the rooting powder bottle with anything off of the cutting.

doesnt matter with the powder shit. dont do that with the gel stuff tho.
I used a teaspoon of honey instead of rooting powder for perennial kale. Worked excellently - I’ll see if it works on blueberries.

hmm .if you not professional . i recomend take blueberry cuttings only in spring time while they dormant and do same like in video . main reason cause of more softer cutting more harder to keep him alive ...and to root fully allways take around 3months

Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The verses above are the first three verses in The Book of Mormon. I know this probably isn't the most ideal place to talk about religion but I really do want you to know that God loves you. You may not love Him or care about Him at all, but He still will continue to love you. You are a beloved son or daughter of God. He knows you personally and He truly and deeply desires for your happiness. He loves everyone who has every lived on this earth, with a perfect equal love regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, faith and values and beliefs. The Lord loves you more than you can think or comprehend. "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile" 2 Nephi. He is our loving, caring Heavenly Father. We are literally His children and creations. When we were in the womb, he knew about us" Jerimiah 4:5. He knitted us and we were created in His image.
I testify to you that you and I are not a mistake. He knows the very moment when we stand and when we sit. He is familiar with all our ways and knows us personally who we are. The hairs on our very head are numbered. God loved us so much, He sent His Only Begotten Son for us, that we may be able to return and dwell in the presence of God again. The Lord has not forgotten about us even when it feels like He has. He will never forsake us. When we are happy, He and His angels rejoice alongside us. When we are sad, He heals us and lifts us up from our trials. He has always been there for us. He has always been our loving, compassionate Heavenly Father and God. Will we always be His children and people?
I testify to you that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. Both love you exceedingly and rejoice when you are happy. They both love you so much. They love you with a love unfeigned. They will never ever stop doing good unto you. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost". Moroni 10:4 I promise and testify to you, that if you will read The Book of Mormon, ponder on its message and ask God if it is not true, you will come to know of its truthfulness, whether its true or not true.
Remember my friends that God loves you with all his heart, might mind, soul and strength. He wants you to be happy. He knows what you are going through and dealing with right now. He desires for you to return back to Him. Unfortunately, He has been misrepresented and seen as a cruel and angry God who anticipates for us to slip and writes down every mistake we make waiting to punish us by those who do not know or know Him fully.
My friends, God has stored many opportunities and blessings for you. He is incredibly eager and desires with all His heart to bless you abundantly. He wants you to live with Him again. He only wants the best for you and your well being. He wants to experience everlasting joy and indescribable happiness in this life and in the life to come. He wants you to partake of His goodness and come and follow Him. The Lord does not care how early or late you decide to come unto Him. I testify to you that if you have strayed and wondered off the path that there is peace and hope in Jesus Christ, The Savior of the world. The Lord accepts those who come unto Him whether your early, late or just in time who desire to change. The Lord will accept you wholeheartedly and forgive you if you are willing to change. The Lord will welcome you and will always be ready to embrace you with open arms. The Lord will lift us up in our trials and use us to bless the lives of those around us if we are willing to change.

You are my friends. The Lord loves you and is aware of you and despite all our weaknesses and shortcomings, he still loves us and will forgive us if we will humble ourselves before Him and diligently seek correction and do whatever is needed to repent.
Remember that The Lord is always available to talk to through prayer 24/7. No question sounds too silly for Him. James wrote, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" James 1:5. If you must know whether or not something is true or evil and deceptive, you can always pray to God. He will help you know what the truth is and what is not the truth. He will never be too busy to talk to. He will give you strength you need to overcome and conquer your temptations and will give you the strength you need to endure through your trials and afflictions. Paul said that The Lord will not give you temptations that you cannot resist, but that in your temptations, He will provide a way for you to resist, overcome and conquer them. He will provide a way. He wants to bless you and reward you abundantly in Spiritual and physical things. The Lord knows you and will not forget you. You are loved. You are utterly amazing. You have incredible potential. You are not forgotten or ever will be forsaken. You are special. You are unique. You are one of a kind. You have been reserved for this time and The Lord needs you on His side.
It simply would not be the same without you. That is just how much the Lord need you on His side.

I tried to root about 30 cuttings a year and a half ago. I ended up with about six that rooted most just rotted. I discovered the same thing, the suckers did not root at all. I was thankful for of the ones that rooted were the ones I wanted the most. I will try more in the late spring and see if I can root the ones I did not get to root before.
Yep, definitely going to be duplicating this next summer but shooting for 100% success. I've learned a lot with this one and know where I will adjust.

Mike, when I turned my computer on, I was delighted to see that you had uploaded a new propagation video! You brighten my days! We've already had snow twice this month, with more on the way this weekend and into next week. When I got up this morning, the outside temperature was 15⁰ F, and we're supposed to dip into the single digits overnight. It looks and feels like winter is here to stay! No snow yet but we had our first couple freezing nights a few nights ago and just started the wood stove the other day. I see plenty of wood chopping in my future. I've got another video or 2 that I'm finishing up from the summer and then we'll head inside for some indoor growing. I've got a new light and grow tent on the way and hope to grow some pepper plants! Stay safe and stay warm!

Love your excitement and enthusiasm. I’ve got some hydrangeas rooted thanks to your videos and will be trying blueberries next year. This fall I switched from using pine wood shavings to white pine needles for mulch as I have plenty of dropped needles on the property. I probably should do a soil test as my plants don’t have a lot of new growth vigor although I do fertilize with ammonium sulfate. Any insight into advantages/disadvantages of various mulches would be appreciated! I also understand that mulch decomposition uses nitrogen so I do add some general purpose garden fertilizer in the spring. Great channel!

You want to take cutting in late spring at latest since you want the sap in them to keep them moist and healthy inside and that helps produce the roots. Dry or after berry cuttings will be harder to root.

Popcorn blueberries are expensive to buy. I bought 2 plants a few years ago. They produced well for me. I took them out of the plant pots last fall and planted them into my raised garden box last fall in 2020. I want more of them so this video really helps me understand how to make more plants from them and when to start propagating them. Thanks for your experience on this subject as it will be easier for me to do when I am ready to do this, from Jeff.
You can definitely multiply these like crazy if you want to. I just did this on a small scale but you could have hundreds of them in a couple years if you made a bigger frame.

I use DipNGrow with 95%+ success with just peat moss in a bio dome- the tips are always better for cuttings- good job

We planted 2 Southern "Highbush" Blueberries var. "Woodard" on our Florida property (Zone 9b) ~30 years ago. They have grown to be 9' tall and equally wide EACH, producing loads of delicious fruit every year. They also have sent underground runners throughout the adjacent area to create our Blueberry patch. It probably helps that the A/c condensate drain is very nearby. We live in an area with tons of Live Oak and Slash Pine (Sandy Acidic soil). Our property also has NATIVE Shiny Blueberry bushes on it. These plants and berries are much smaller but equally tasty as their larger cousins. Thanks for all your videos and tips.

I haven't tried that yet but it's a great idea! I would probably start with hardwood cuttings in the winter but I'll have to read up on it.
