    It's unreal Lebron's power (Klutch's, too) in the basketball world, truly. Bronny was a good high school player who 'somehow' ended up as McDonalds All American (even though he wasn't even first team all conference in his home league). And from there it's just assumed he was awesome. But he shows essentially nothing in his freshman year at USC, which is fine, college can take some getting used to. But now that he declares for the draft (and we find out he's 2" shorter than listed!), it's back to the narrative that he was a high school 5 Star and McD All American, so he must be good. Looks like it's going to take him being on a NBA roster to find out he's a so-so basketball player (or worse). Which is really quite something when you think about it.

  • @imc440
    @imc440 Před měsícem +42

    He’s a 6’2” 2 guard who couldn’t crack 6 PPG, with heart problems. I’ve got to assume USC would have loved him to be a great player, considering the attention he would bring the program, so I doubt it was the team not giving him a chance.
    In all honesty, I think he’s got a shot at being the worst player of his generation. Small 2 guards who can’t score at the college level don’t typically last long in the NBA.
    What are we talking about here? Saying it’s unfair to suggest his dad is the only reason he’ll make the NBA is crazy. It’s honestly disrespectful to the fringe NBA players to suggest he deserves a shot on merit. His resume does not stack up against anybody in the league.

    • @kenfresno2125
      @kenfresno2125 Před měsícem +24

      If you just look at him objectively and ignore his last name he absolutely projects to be the worst player ever drafted in the NBA. 4/2/2 on a 15-18 college team means he projects to be a 0/0/0 guy in the NBA. Could he improve? Some, but based on what we've seen the only stat he's contributing to would be the +/-, and only the - part.
      Also, he's not one of these guys who will benefit from having a nutritionist and trainer in the NBA, because he's had them his entire life. He's not gonna be like Jimmy Butler or Kawhi where he can make a big jump while already in the NBA because he's finally eating, sleeping, working out and practicing correctly with all the necessary trainers/coaches in place. Bronny has already had all of that in place his entire life.
      19 years of professional nutritionists, trainers, coaches, etc... and he's a 4/2/2 guy on a 15-18 college team. If LeBron had all the benefits his kid grew up with? (Assuming he keeps the same drive and doesn't slack off) He'd be averaging 40/20/20 and probably have 15 titles.

    Bronny is projected as the 54th best prospect. In the 2021 NBA Draft the Bucks at owned picked 54 and drafted Sandro Mamukelashvili. Compare those 2 players both supposedly worth pick 54.
    Mamu 18/8/3 leader of his team Seton Hall avg 36MPG and shot 34% from 3pt. Size 6'11" 245lbs
    Bronny 5/3/2 bench rider of USC avg 19MPG and shot 27% from 3pt. Size 6'1" 220lbs.

    The main part of this that really hits for me is "let me learn about the other players". Enjoying sports is partly about narratives and part of what the sports media is supposed to do is give you the tools to construct a narrative out of events (including the draft). If all you hear about is Bronny, you lack the tools to interpret what's going on in the draft to construct that story. And without that why would you even watch or care about the draft? It actively undermines the whole purpose of even covering the draft in the first place.

      he has shown nothing in high school or college to show that he can get there. if we are going on theoretical scenarios then everyone has a chance to make it to the NBA if all it takes is 4 years of college. The kid has poor handles, can't drive to the basket, can't shoot free throws, can't run the point and he is the size of a point guard. He has good shooting form though and a decent floater and tries hard on defense but gets scored on pretty easy. The kid has potential yes but right now he cannot even keep up against lackluster pac-12 players.

    Super weird draft. Lot's of foreign talent but everything seems like a gamble in this draft. As for Bronny James, he's a 6'1 shooting guard that doesn't create much in iso and has had a spotty shooting record at best. Also he has a potentially lethal congenitive heart defect. Nobody is drafting that. Nobody.

    • @BigBroKuma
      @BigBroKuma Před měsícem

      Hmmm idk it's not about the production in terms of the real analysts. He ranks where he does because of his defense and athleticism. And he can play both the 1 and the 2. In terms of shooting that's not really a big deal cause a lot of coaches have the "I can fix him mindset" and ti be fair to them they have fixed a lot of prospects shooting forms so he'd just be a 2nd round pick. Not saying whether its right or not but if he wasn't a James he'd prob be a 2nd round pick or a UDFA put on a 2 way contract to develop
