I have an interview with Trader Joe’s this week. After researching online, I’m kind of nervous because they make the interview process seem so daunting and intimidating.. I hate to admit this and not sure if I should when asked, but I know way more about the Whole Foods brands because I’ve been shopping there since I moved here. They didn’t have a Trader Joe’s when I first moved here although Trader Joe’s probably opened a few years ago. I still haven’t been to their store because it’s not close to my house. Are you expected to know all their brands before you even work there, that’s what all of the online videos suggest.
To be honest, I interviewed almost 18 years ago so the process may be different now. I am pretty sure you don’t need to know the products. There are SO many! Maybe know a few to be on the safe side. Products you have tried. But I know people who didn’t know much about TJ’s, including me, and we were hired. So be encouraged by that. 🙂They may ask about your thoughts about the store, like “what’s your favorite thing about Trader Joe’s?” But I think a friendly personality and good work ethic will be more important. Like any interview, have some answers ready. Oh and your availability is important in terms of how many days you can work. Commitment is pretty important. So is being able to work weekends. I’m a firm believer that if one door closes another will open for you. So may God help you with your interview. And may He open up another door for you if this one closes!

The woman that conducted my interview was not the same person who did the initial phone interview, which was unfortunate because the manager I spoke with on the phone was very nice. The person I met with wasn’t. She seemed to be in a hurry and was kind of stern and intimidating. I got a call the following morning saying they had filled the position. @@TheMishroom
This placed made me hate it slowly over 2 years until I was fired for not being in the section that was in my log even though I was finished and was helping someone out with something in another area. Tons of safety hazards and also your experience is entirely dependent on the mates and captain you have. When I started, even though it was allot to take in, I genuinely did like it.
Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I’m surprised you were fired over that. It usually takes a lot to get fired, at least in my store. Mates and Captain make a huge difference! I’ve had many of them and you’re right, they determine your work environment and overall morale.
