    You are probably the only one in the world who has all 3 of the referral wheels, stock 20”, and lightest Martian wheels for the P3 and a Torie Chanel to showcase it. Thousands are asking the same question of what’s the efficiency differences. Burn stoke of that free supercharging and do that trip with stockers and Martians. They sure do look sexy though ! ♥️

    I’d like to see how the Martian 18s stack up against these referral 20s as well as the factory 18s. I personally run 20s around town and on my daily commute, but swap to the Aeros for road trips. Hate the look of the Aeros, so if the Martians are better, I’d be interested in purchasing those over using my Aeros.
    Keep up the good work!

  • @kens97sto171
    @kens97sto171 Před 4 lety

    One of their factor is possibly the tires. I have heard that when tires are brand new you'll often see the consumption go up a bit. Even if you're replacing the same type of tire you will often see a higher consumption for a couple thousand miles. I don't know if the outer surface needs to wear completely smooth or round etcetera but I have heard this is the case.

  • @jeffnreno5080
    @jeffnreno5080 Před 4 lety +1

    I'd actually like to see an efficiency test between the Martian 18"s and the 18" stock Aero Tesla wheels. I know you switched out your original performance wheels when you went to the Martians and went with a 7.5" width but I'm sure you have Model 3 fans that are close enough to you that have the Aero wheels that would be willing to swap long enough to do the test. Since the Martians are so much lighter, I'm just curious if them being 1" narrower but not having the Aero covers will make much of an efficiency difference. Of course, things like weather, tire pressure, and tire choice will have some impact also but would be nice to see the comparison.

    • @fabriziom
      @fabriziom Před 4 lety

      I agree it would be great. Kyle will have to equip his Martian wheels on an SR+ or LR non performance as the aero wheels don't fit on the performance version.
      I'd be happy to do it but I live in France 😁

  • @michaelpatterson8758
    @michaelpatterson8758 Před 4 lety

    The tire is a huge factor in this, especially being brand new. I am not sure I get any better on the original performance wheel with the same tire at that speed.

  • @toptobottom247
    @toptobottom247 Před 4 lety

    I have an idea! Have a rim maker create some hub cap wheel covers to snap right over those zero-g wheels to get the efficiency back when you travel that way you want to have to change the wheels which are a nuisance.

  • @M6Need4Speed
    @M6Need4Speed Před 4 lety

    Great vid Kyle! When you do the 18"s could you also throw on the screen the weight difference between the two wheel/tire sets? I'm also curious about aero differences; does a more "enclosed" wheel" like the ones on the standard range 3? Any way you can think of to take the new wheels and McGyver up a smooth wheel cover over the spokes? On the Insight Honda made a big deal of how the aero of the wheels was worth double-digit percentage increases in range, be interesting to see the new wheels back to back with "open spokes" vs "smooth surface"

    I really want to know what tires in the stock Performance size (or maybe 245 width) are the most efficient while also not ruining handling and launch traction. There’s very few options in the 235/35R20 size. I also want an all season tire that I don’t have to worry about getting damaged if I drive in cold temperatures. If this has been filmed in the last couple weeks I can say it has been SUPER windy here in Raleigh, and down to the coast.
    I struggle to hit 300wh/mi at 70mph on the stock 20” wheels and tires.

    Any way I can reach out to you to get some range questions answered? I have a 2018 P3D+ with the stock 20" wheels and tires. I get at most 60 kwh on the cards from a 90% charge and maybe about 200 total driven range on the car.
    I am interested to switch to the Martian 18x7.5 to get the range back. What is Wh/mi doing this same drive with the Martian wheels? Which tires are you running on the Martian Wheels? Its okay if its not an exact scientific setup... just want a good ball park.
    I recently did a long extreme freeway drive in the 2018 P3D+ and was able to go from 95% --> 8% and my card said "296.6 miles / 6:04 hours / 197 Wh/mi".
    Since Last charge card "296.6 miles / 58 kwh / 197 Wh/mi" So in a nut shell, daytime driving, no HVAC or lights... I was able to make range at under 50 mph.
    I would like to be able to drive at 80 mph and use HVAC to do about 250 miles if possible.
    I also cracked one of my stock rims too and got it replaced 🤦🏽‍♂️
