Oddworld: FeeCo Depot

  • FeeCo Depot is one of the iconic locations from the Oddworld gaming franchise and one of the places I remember most from when I was a kid playing Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. FeeCo Depot is another confirmed place to be returning in Oddworld: Soulstorm, albeit now called Comet Depot, as confirmed by Oddworld Inhabitants founder Lorne Lanning. I wanted to take an in-depth look at FeeCo Depot, analysing it's design, music and taking a look at Vice President Aslik, the Glukkon in charge of running the facility that contains the famous Oddworld trains. Furthermore, I wanted to take a look at what Comet Depot might be like in Oddworld: Soulstorm and how it may be just as important a location in Oddworld: Soulstorm as FeeCo Depot was in Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. I look forward to seeing Comet Depot be a place in Oddworld: Soulstorm that, hopefully, carries on the legacy of FeeCo Depot.
Also this video was uploaded on a leap year day!!!! Leap year day 2020, 29th February 2020!!!! Won't be able to upload another video on this day till 2024!!!! For four years!!!! I'm not sure if I've ever uploaded on this day before so this might be my first ever time but yeah that's just a fun fact.

@@pupbenny Also, i feel the boss system will be very very different on controlling glukkons, plus, i feel there should be different variations of glukkon models on not having the same one. Like that green glukkon in the original.
My guess on the boss system isn't going to just be mind controlling them easily, I feel the glukkons are going to point where Abe is and they head to the next room. Until the final room to get controlled easily.
Plus, i really think it should be cool to see some Sligs following the glukkons like Abe except they would be slightly marching lol, get my meaning? like discipline, and who was the general again? I keep forgetting his name.

The theme from Feeco Depot was one of the songs that seemed stuck in my head and was coming back to haunt me in my dreams and memories. It's quite catchy and you can suprisingly kinda sing the theme. Other tracks could not be sang/replicated via voice as easily

Some of the music is inspired by first and second wave industrial bands from 1969-1985
      Bands like:
      Einstürzende Neubauten
      Der Eisenrost
      Test Dept
      SPK
      Foetus
A lot of these artists went on to do soundtracks for TV, movies, and video games. For example Graeme Revell from SPK, and JG Thirlwell from Foetus

Small note about why a lot of that fine craftsmanship that was lost is likely due to the deathtoll of the world wars. Many artisans never came home, and the demand was high enough that companies began to pull back on it for more uniform and easier for lower skilled employees to make.

Little note from an Italian. To joke on Mussolini, my father often uses the derogatory name "Mascellone" (big jaw), referring to how he used to protrude his chin to appear more authoritative and powerful (at least I think that was the intention, he really appeared ridiculous and showed only his conceit, but at the time evidently his bloated gasbag mannerism worked).
Also, my father use to reply to the "Quando c'era lui, i treni arrivavano in orario" (When there was him, the trains ran on schedule) motto, now a joke citation, with "Sì, quando c'era lui sopra, forse" ("Yeah, when there was him on [a train, that one only ran on schedule], maybe).

I think the reason Abe casually walks onto the train instead of hanging from it implies how sparse or perhaps minimal the staff is in Feeco depot. No one seems to be manning or at least checking the inside of the train, because they're mainly used for transport of goods anyway. In exoddus there's a clip where the Sligs kind of oversee the railway, so he'd get caught if he did what he'd do in Soulstorm

4:36 I always figured that the reason you find Aslik in the toilets is because it's meant to show he's an enormous coward deep down. Not only is he hiding behind the other two executives in that you have to go to Slig Barracks and Bonewerkz to disable the electricity to get to him, and that he has the highest personal security level in the army of sligs you have to get through to get to him, when you DO find him he's not in his office like the other two, but cowering in the toilet, hoping Abe won't find him.

Basically what he's doing is he's leaning his head back to look down at everyone he talks to people, this is a subtle thing to kinda make people look up to him, kinda makes you feel he's above you, it's a way to make him come off as more imposing and powerful.

    Incompletely agree
We as a species has lost our craft, we no longer care about meticulous details just how practical an item is, yes having a glass table is nice but all it is really is a wooden frame with some legs, there’s no care no detail just something you’d pick up from a DIY shop and the same applies to movies and video games where the universe is just bland, story less or simply just a rehash of some part of human history ie fantasy worlds looks like either medieval England or some Viking village and lacks any individuality no culture, as for the trains as you said it represents their culture and their egos

I understand they have sligs and such. But how do they create all of this. The trains, the factory's, even nolybab a freaking city. They don't have arms!!? Or was it the mudokons they created all of this. If so why did they do all this. Tricked or manipulated?
