- 🌊 Sea claims cars in Cape Town high tides, South Africa 🇿🇦
Massive springtide hits the Western Cape Province of South Africa. New moon spring high tide coupled with gale force winds wreak havoc along coastline. See video from Harold's Bay, Gordon's Bay (Bikini Beach), Blouberg (snow), Gordons Bay harbour. Local forecasters say 8m swells are predicted for the Richards Bay coastline tomorrow (Sunday), with spring high tides Monday to Wednesday.
THE National Sea Rescue Institute has again urged anglers, bathers and boaters to exercise extreme caution amid new moon spring high tides this weekend and into the new week.

The waves aren't the problem. The houses are.
So true, that's nature of the sea
Now you see why houses should never have been build so close to the ocean. That is the place for nature and where people can walk. Insurance should not pay for damage to buildings within 200 m of high tide marks. Sorry, but those houses and buildings mess up nature and my pleasure of enjoying it.
True you can’t mess with nature.
Just look at what it’s capable of.
Totally agree! Nature takes back what was stolen from her. They should buy boats and live on the sea!
This is why we have 50 and 100 year flood lines for rivers as well. Last December for the first time in my lifetime our streets were flowing with rivers of water.
"They are all in it together. 😂😂🤣🤣🤑
Nature always wins
Beach front property is cute… Only when the ocean 🌊 is calm.
I have visited nearly all the beaches from the West Coast up to Port Elizabeth and mentioned to friends and families that the municipalities allowed the building of houses too near to the beaches.
If I am right, your house must not be nearer than 10 meters from the high-level mark, but the springtide level was not considered.
The whole westcoast of South Afrika shows signs of this tipe waves from many years in the past , nobody takes this in consideration.
This is a warning to South Africa, what will happen if a sunamy of 10m will reach our coast at a speed of more or less of 100km per hour.
The name Cape of Storms was made by people who had experienced it in Jan van Riebeek's time.
@@EatonShitson Gordons Bay, Clifton, Bantry Bay, Herolds Bay, most of these were developed by the British, remember?? Leave Africa out of colonial stupidities, please.
What is a sunamy? It's sad when the education system leaves someone behind.

Tsunami
Never mess with Nature and she won't mess with U...As Nature always wins in the end... I am surely surprised this happens every year and every year people don't seem to get it...? For example a couple of years ago, there were terrible Tsunamis in the Indian Ocean Islands. And as human are, humans were all flocking to the Beaches. And all the animals and insects and birds were fleeing to the mountains, to higher ground, this really amazes me... Man seems to have no understanding... Hah...
Mother nature is cleansing herself
By the look of things.. we could expect some waves up here in Gauteng by Wednesday ,
Best , I get my surboard all waxed up then ?!
You cracked me up 😅
Classic.
@arlenespencer5850 I could not resist the opportunity to crack a joke !!
But , in all seriousness.. I'm sincerely sorry/saddened for the people who lost their property and investments 🙏
😂😂 Nice 1
I have always wondered about the houses built so close to sea😢
The second last beach is Herolds Bay near George. They often get hit with huge waves.
Oh my God. It's unbelievable!😮
The two chaps at 0:35 had been quite lucky to make safe exit
Why didn't those people move their cars to higher ground ? So crazy that.
Seriously😳No ways, unbelievable 😳
And now you know why you should never buy a pre-owned car that has a history of CT. Chassis is always covered with rust.
Any coastal town.
Wrong. I bought cars in Pretoria that had terrible hidden rust, and several from Cape Town that had no rust. Why is that? As Cape Town doesn't or didn't have the acid rains of the industrial North. My old director's coaches from Deutschland really looked as new after twenty or thirty years, but my Pretoria cars rusted quite generously.
Time for me to buy a BIG magnet and go car fishing. 🙄
Car insurance companies are going crazy watching this!
There's nothing wrong with the sea.... When you greedy and want to live right on the edge one should expect Nonsense what man takes from the see the sea takes back dubbel en dwars 😊

The reporting here is quite incorrect. There was no spring tide, which relates to the phases of the moon. In fact, on September 16, 2023, we were halfway between two spring tides. Tides had little or nothing to do with this. Instead, a long fetch cold front / low pressure system 6 000km south of Agulhas did us the honours. The Cape of Good Hope was first called Cabo Tormentosa by the Portuguese discoverers more than 540 years ago, and with good reason. This just just a very normal weather phenomenon and South Africa is quite used to a bit of fun and games brought in by all manner of low pressure metereological phneomena. Each and every flood over the past century was delivered by cut-off lows; think of the inundated Karoo towns of Victoria West, Beaufort West, Calvinia, Laingsburg and others - typically arid towns where people drowned in the streets, or at least one joker grabbed a surfboard. Yes, there are surfers as far afield as Vanwyksvlei, Fraserburg, and not just at Muizenberg, Kommetjie or Sea Point. The woke also have no need to call this "climate change." This is our party; keep little Gretel in her cage and off any stage.
Still don't believe this, im shooketh ....😮
Equinox tide.
Ek verstaan nie waarom mense so na aan die water wil bly nie! Ek het ʼn huisie by die see dis nag!!! Bou ʼn vlot en bly op die water...hierdie jaar gaan ons les opse agv die weer...water wind en vuur kan niemand keer nie...gaan tog so ʼn 100km binneland toe...!! Ai tog😢😢
Are diamonds washing up. That happens occasionally with these stormy tides.
These comments 😂😂😂
Beach front property for sale. Minor water damage.
Houses!
So people didn't get a warning so that they can move their cars?
😳😱 Ja neh, I've been wondering what if something like this or worse happens to houses so close to the ocean, me I can have sleepless nights.
I think it might be a good thing to learn to swim! And these owners paid more to live there. More weather related deaths every day
No one died, as far as I could see.
Ho I do like too be by the seaside ho I do like too be by the sea
The last bit looks like beach road
I blame the ANC.
😂
FOR WHAT ?!?!!!?!?!?

Some of these comments are funny but really have a point
It's just a warning. The sea will reclaim what was, including parts of the Cape Flats.😀
"" All the signs are here.🙏✝️
That should be fun to watch😂
You mean the whole of Karoo will be under water again. I don't think so. 🐝
@@amandadassonville4043 The Karoo is not the Cape Flats. The Cape Flats is the flat level area between False Bay and Milnerton. The sea can easily reclaim that area. Thankfully I live high up in the mountains above Simonstown
I'm shocked....I've only ever seen photos, pictures of a starving south africa with no water or food. This looks absolutely gorgeous.(minus the cars of course, but you really shouldn't build on land so close to the open sea😂)
You've been looking at the wrong pictures South Africa's actually a wealthy first world country
@labourlawact7826 You definitely would be forgiven for thinking South Africa is a wealthy first world country the way our so called politicians spend our hard earned tax money ;-)!
@@TimK True🤭😁🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
They'll be fine.
Big swell coming, I better park my car rigt infront of the ocean....is this some insurance claim scam
I doubt their insurer will pay out for any damages.

Even with the current dip in the market I'm still glad I can smile back at my portfolio of $12,500 built from my weekly trade....
I invested with Raymond Armstrang , i make about a 30,000USD every month......😊🙏
First profit grew rapidly and that has made me invest without the fear of losing, I got four of my friends that I introduce to him and they are making profits just like me......

Now those of us who were forcibly removed from the better areas and made to live on the Cape Flats finally have something to smile about. Sometimes, not very often, your privilege can come and bite you in the backside.
I agree .... and then they blame the dog and he has to be put down .😉
We are living in the last days, Jesus is coming soon
It’s a spring equinox tide. There’s actually a very simple explanation for it. It happens every year. Kalk Bay regularly gets slammed.
Lol he's been coming now for years, maybe he is impotent 😂
😂😂😂😂
@@DraconZa😂
Jesus came long time just that people don't accept him😢😢😢😢
Cape town will stand until Jesus comes and the other countries are in South Africa and the Africa the whole. Our investment is our salvation to believe in God. Their tables are going to surrender soon that Jesus Christ is the lord.
