  • 🌊 Sea claims cars in Cape Town high tides, South Africa 🇿🇦
    Massive springtide hits the Western Cape Province of South Africa. New moon spring high tide coupled with gale force winds wreak havoc along coastline. See video from Harold's Bay, Gordon's Bay (Bikini Beach), Blouberg (snow), Gordons Bay harbour. Local forecasters say 8m swells are predicted for the Richards Bay coastline tomorrow (Sunday), with spring high tides Monday to Wednesday.
    THE National Sea Rescue Institute has again urged anglers, bathers and boaters to exercise extreme caution amid new moon spring high tides this weekend and into the new week.

    The waves aren't the problem. The houses are.

  • @tpkorea6c
    @tpkorea6c Před 10 měsíci +79

    Now you see why houses should never have been build so close to the ocean. That is the place for nature and where people can walk. Insurance should not pay for damage to buildings within 200 m of high tide marks. Sorry, but those houses and buildings mess up nature and my pleasure of enjoying it.

    I have visited nearly all the beaches from the West Coast up to Port Elizabeth and mentioned to friends and families that the municipalities allowed the building of houses too near to the beaches.
    If I am right, your house must not be nearer than 10 meters from the high-level mark, but the springtide level was not considered.
    The whole westcoast of South Afrika shows signs of this tipe waves from many years in the past , nobody takes this in consideration.
    This is a warning to South Africa, what will happen if a sunamy of 10m will reach our coast at a speed of more or less of 100km per hour.
    The name Cape of Storms was made by people who had experienced it in Jan van Riebeek's time.

    Never mess with Nature and she won't mess with U...As Nature always wins in the end... I am surely surprised this happens every year and every year people don't seem to get it...? For example a couple of years ago, there were terrible Tsunamis in the Indian Ocean Islands. And as human are, humans were all flocking to the Beaches. And all the animals and insects and birds were fleeing to the mountains, to higher ground, this really amazes me... Man seems to have no understanding... Hah...

      Wrong. I bought cars in Pretoria that had terrible hidden rust, and several from Cape Town that had no rust. Why is that? The reporting here is quite incorrect. There was no spring tide, which relates to the phases of the moon. In fact, on September 16, 2023, we were halfway between two spring tides. Tides had little or nothing to do with this. Instead, a long fetch cold front / low pressure system 6 000km south of Agulhas did us the honours. The Cape of Good Hope was first called Cabo Tormentosa by the Portuguese discoverers more than 540 years ago, and with good reason. This just just a very normal weather phenomenon and South Africa is quite used to a bit of fun and games brought in by all manner of low pressure metereological phneomena. Each and every flood over the past century was delivered by cut-off lows; think of the inundated Karoo towns of Victoria West, Beaufort West, Calvinia, Laingsburg and others - typically arid towns where people drowned in the streets, or at least one joker grabbed a surfboard. Yes, there are surfers as far afield as Vanwyksvlei, Fraserburg, and not just at Muizenberg, Kommetjie or Sea Point. The woke also have no need to call this "climate change." This is our party; keep little Gretel in her cage and off any stage.
