A: (Anakin Skywalker), Having your legs cut off and your left arm while left on boiling hot surface and then being caught on fire due to the extreme heat and then staying on fire for a while and then waiting ages before medical attention? Or B: (Mace Windu), Having one hand cut off, electrocuted powerfully for 4-5 seconds and falling about 600M and would be seen almost instantly and receive medical attention? I would like to think of Anakin could survive his injuries then Mace could survive his.
Yeah, Anakin endured a lot worse than Mace did and Maul was cut in half and fell who knows how far.

+M'aiq the Liar I think the three masters who accompanied Windu died way too easily, but Darth Sidious was a beast! The way he beat Darth Maul and Savage Opress in the Clone Wars made this believable.
He quickly wiped Fisto and the others out so that he could focus on Windu. I didn't like it, but it probably would have indeed happened that way.

I know the whole point of the three Jedi besides Windu were just to be killed to show how strong Palpatine was, but still, I think it would've been cooler if they lasted at least a few seconds haha. Like they both died in just one hit each, and one of the guys is even facing the wrong way lol...that makes it seem more like Palp just got two lucky hits than that he was so strong. If they had something like him blocking all four of them attacking him at once, that would be cooler.

it doesn't matter what cannon or the script says. It only matters what Disney wants to do and it's reported that Samuel Jackson has been in talks with Disney to revise his character because he feels Mace would have survived his fall and he feels Mace deserves a larger roll in future movies.

+J4MIE96 If they do add him back in Rebels, there's no way that Vader alone could kill him, Mace would probably be the exception to Palpatine's political hiatus from combat and bring both the Emperor and Vader down to challenge him at the same time. If I had to guess why, Mace would be trying to buy the Rebel Squadron some time and he or Ashoka sensed their power, giving Mace the honorable way out.

There's a chance that they can redcone his death, because in the scene he doesn't scream when he gets thrown out of the window, he grunts as if he's the one throwing himself out, looking at it in some way it also looks like he jumped out to escape.
Samuel Jackson also wants to come back as Mace Windu in the new Star Wars series and even the actor who played as Finn really wants it to happen so I think it's a very high possibillity.

We know Dark Side users can endure severe punishment with the help of the Dark Side. Some can even stave off death. If Mace , notorious for walking the line between light and dark, felt enough negative emotions from having been bested by the Sith and betrayed by Anakin, one might argue he could've survived. As a matter of fact, I think it would be interesting to see a jedi stoop so low and struggle back to the light.

I think it's more likely this is why we never saw him again. He came so close to going full dark side, that he was terrified of fighting ever again for fear of becoming a sith. Not to mention, that not knowing Yoda and Obi-Wan had survived Order 66 may have made him think that fighting the new Empire was impossible. So he retired to some distant planet and spent his life living humbly while trying to do whatever good he could without raising the attention of the empire.

Also, Mace Windu is hinted and often thought to be the most powerful Jedi next to Yoda ( excluding a powerful but more impulsive, more inexperienced force user, Anakin). Example "He's as wise as Master Yoda and as powerful as Master Windu..." - Anakin referring to Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is classified as one of the most powerful Jedi recorded as well.
As for the bit on the force lightening, Sidious may have thrown Mace Windu out the already broken window, but one would think the Emperor would be an even stronger Sith Lord in the ways of the Dark Side, despite his weaker appearance (think Yoda vs. Dooku).
SO, all that to say, Mace Windu being as powerful a Jedi as he was, definitely could have survived that battle. My opinion would be that he went into exile and took the Grey Jedi route. He's already experienced in some dark force abilities, so the tragedy Order 66 may have dimmed his mindset and beliefs. However, then you would have to consider why he isn't on Dagaba with Yoda. Maybe he was, I'm done.
If he did survive, he would probably be way too old in the current movies however he could be the grandfather of Finn which might explain Finn's force affinity. Seeing as how Finn was taken as a child we don't know where his origins lie.

Windu's death is survivable. I mean, it's not like we see him hacked to bits, or reduced to a pile of dust. The problem is this: how could he help the story along? If Mace were to return in an undiminished state (albeit one-handed) he would be too powerful for the likes of the Inquisitors, maybe too powerful for Darth Vader. Mace is my favorite Jedi. I would love to see him return in Rebels, but he would upset the balance of the show.

Dooku was around his age when he died (according to EU, I don't know what the canon says about his age) and he was a great duelist, but his style was more defensive and he wanted to compensate for his old age.

Palpatine was able to fight with a lightsaber just fine in Lords of the Sith, which is part of the new canon, so the lightning didn't give him any severe injuries. That novel takes place 5 years after Revenge of the Sith.

First of all great video! It would be amazing to see Mace return to the story line! I believe he could have survived... although he would probably be a Grey Jedi. A lot like Jolie Bindo in Knights of the Old Republic. I feel the betrayal by his forearm being cut off while trying to bring Sidious to justice would turn his already borderline thoughts to the Grey side of the force. He would be old but I believe he would still be alive. If Darth Maul and Vader could survive their brushes with death due to the dark side of the force then I believe the force strong Mace Windu could survive the fall and the force lighting. He would be scarred but survived.

Fan Theory: The Survival Of Mace Windu. After being thrown from the window of Chancellor Palpatine's office, by sheer instinct through the Force alone, Mace Windu uses the Force to make a harsh landing on top of a passing speeder. The gravely injured Jedi makes it to the ground, still reeling from series of events that just occurred. Mace sees a pair of Clone Troopers patrolling the street. Recognizing Master Windu they hurry to him to see if they can be of any assistant to the noticeably injured Jedi. The comes the hologram of Chancellor Palpatine in there hands, giving Order 66, Mace then realizes what must be done he uses the Force to choke the life from the Troopers, moving the bodies from sight, he dons the armor of one of the clones. Not a perfect disguise due to his missing arm but just good enough to move quickly through the streets without challenge. Mace comes across two Jedi Temple Guards trying to get eight Jedi Younglings as far away from the fallen Jedi Temple as they possible can; Windu reveals himself Jedi. "Master Windu, they we were betrayed..." Mace interrupts, " I know, there will be time for that, our mission now is to get these younglings to safety." Mace leads his small group secretly to the Outer Rim space.
They eventually settle on a remote planet. No longer disillusioned with the impractical teachings of the Jedi, how they were too easily drawn into a war with an "instant army", that had trap written all over it, yet they were to blind to see. War, breeds fear, hate, anger and distrust, all which are paths to the Dark Side. Mace remembers a particular text from the restricted section of the Jedi Archives back at there old temple. It had but one flaw in it, it referred to the Light Side of the Force as being evil. Mace births a new breed of "Jensaarai." Through various small trials gets his arm replaced " with a organic alien hand having only three fingers on the hand." Mace being the senior Jedi in his small, but growing Order. Now teaching Form VII, Vaapad, first to the former Jedi Temple Guards, teaching them that only by using both Light and Dark Sides of the Force but only adhering to the Light can there be a balance in the Force. Many years pass and the Jensaarai Sentinel returns on his own, and tells the Jensaarai Council of all of the events of (episodes VI, V, an VI) and that Snoke betrayed them at the first opportunity. And that they were no longer safe in there in home. Master Windu and his Jensaarai move there new temple another hidden location on a different world. Then the episode VII, occurs. "Now we have to stop the First Order and the new Jedi and any would be Sith, we have to maintain balance in the Force, we have to stop them all!" vows Mace Windu and his New Jensaarai Order. +Sir Nils Olav Han isn't a jedi. Han is a dude who doesn't even have any sensitivity to the force. Maul only survived because of his connection to the force. Anakin barely survived being torched by lava. Also he got pierced in the heart. Not even Maul or Anakin could survive by being impaled in any vitals for long. Notice how Maul wasn't missing any vitals when he was cut waist down. Anakin only got all of his limbs cut off and torched in lava which could've killed him but he wasn't stabbed in the heart or any shit like that. Also the planet exploded. Maul was brought back because of fan service. Fanboys make and break this shit. You really think they would've brought back Maul normally if he was unpopular as hell? You think Boba Fett would've been looked at after the original trilogy or possibly brought back if he was unpopular? They only bring back these characters for fan service, which is lame in my opinion.

in the book, "Truce at Bakura," takes place immediately after episode vi, talks about luke and the aftermath of post lightning fight.
one thing i think you should take into consideration is windus fighting style. he channeled force energies through his body without harming him or turning him evil. i personally think it is possible that he was able to do this to some extent with the lightning and was able to re channel some of that force lighting into himself. however in doing this i think he would have to embrace the dark side force and it could have turned him to the dark side.

I didn't make the the correlation between the deaths of Palpatine and Windu until now.
A very interesting observation.
Don't forget that Master Bilaba, Kanan's former master, was also Windu's apprentice, which would create a connection between Windu and Kanan and a usable plot point for a future Rebels episode.

It is if you're being electrocuted for a long period of time before you're thrown out of the window. Mace would not be able to recover in time to cushion his own fall so he's very much dead.

Just watched RotS and several hundred year old Yoda was hit by lightning, thrown into a wall, fell more than a couple stories down in the senate building and still lived. So being stunned can’t be what happened to Windu, bc as you said, Luke suffered the same level of lightning, not to mention Luke carried Darth Vader to a shuttle. I think it’s very possible that Mace Windu is still alive

Yeah the hand part is really the biggest issue for me in this, and the skin color doesn't really matter. Snoke's face is probably like that because of a lightning attach and the darkside, like palpatine.

I agree....I think Snoke is Mace. Every time I make the comment in blogs I get salty hate. People keep talking about the hand, but he could have gotten a replacement covered with skin like Luke in Eps. 5 (Empire Strikes Back.) People seem to forget the end of that movie.

I really like that parallel about Anakin turning on Mace Windu and Palpatine without it being expected, especially since it was in the third movie of each respective trilogy.
I was sad to see Mace die the first time I saw this, he was a Jedi I wanted to see more of, even if he made some pretty bad calls in III.

Another interesting parallel is Anakin's personal struggle when watching Palpatine using force lightning on someone.
In episode 3 he struggled with the choice and chose to act upon a whim and suddenly lashed out against Mace. In this situation Palpatine is the one who is helpless and on the ground begging for Anakin's help.
In episode 6 he struggled with the same choice, acted on a whim and lashed out against Palpatine. This time Luke was on the ground helpless.

What happened to Windu's saber? I imagine it would be quite interesting for a major jedi master's trusted weapon to crop up elsewhere after his death.
if he was at the temple at operation knightful he would have definitely changed the tide of the battle against the clones and anakin
considering that Mace was one of the very few members of the council that held Yoda's respect in terms of force and sabre proficiency, I do believe that he would have survived the fall but just barely, he was most likely rescued by a passer-by who snuck him into hiding. Shortly after waking up, he probably would have had to piece his mind back together since the shock of betrayal, the fall and the lightning combined together probably would have given him amnesia.
from there, we can speculate that Mace without his memories would have assumed a new identity and if he does make his return, would not be able to do so during the period of time that order 66 was in effect.
Even if he were to regain his memories, he most likely would have stayed in hiding to ascertain the fate of the republic and the Jedi order, and would not have provided significant enough help to any rebellion or fellow Jedi that would expose the fact he survived as a precaution.
If he does return in rebels, I doubt he would resume his old Jedi Master identity, but in someway fight with the rebellion, minimising his use of the force so as to better remain hidden from the eyes of the dark side and its agents.

I heard of an E.U. story of Mace Windu's survival and participation in the rebellion. I believe they bring up this story in one of the verses videos.
He must have I find it so hard to believe he went out like that.
He did survive; Finn is his son and is thus force-sensitive and able to wield Anakin's lightsaber with relative ease.
There is a rare Comic where Quinlan Vaz was able to get to Coruscant just in time to save Jedi Master Mace Windu. However I did not read past that issue so I am not quite aware of what may have happened after this event but I guess that's the best part of Star Wars. SURPRISES! lol
The fact that he got hit with force lightning gave him intense energy, and he was known to be able change dark energy into light.
So, he could have absorbed that lightning, and as he fell, changed that energy and used it to control his descent.
Conclusion: plot twists are stronger than the evil mastermind's signature move
This death will always haunt and anger me. Always finds myself hoping it does not happen every time I'm watching the film. RIP Mace
