G shocks are the toughest mtfckrs of all! I wear a DW6900 tough solar for 13 years now and although i have a good collection of watches this is my everyday watch! I just love it and i'm about to buy and an analogue one.
the 5600 is really the hilux of watches, you can find spare parts for little money. Other out of stock G Shocks are a drama, for some I had to spend 50/80 dollars for a bezel or a strap :(
The 1545 module has a date of 1995 when the calendar is reset, but that will not tell the exact year of manufacture, since the 5600E was released in 1996.

Yes they are brilliant watches. I still have my GM 5600B 3er from new, bought it as a spare. Never worn it, modified it with black metal strap components from the States. Should get at least 8 years out of the battery but they are so easy to change.
Rule of thumb. When it comes to changing a 3volt lithium battery you never touch the battery with your fingers. It drains the power dramatically. Always use tweezers.
My mountain biking watch is a DW5600E same 1545 module... I bought it for $5 in about the same condition as that... I spent maybe $30 for a new OEM bezel and some bull bars and JaysAndKays NATO adapters this watch for $35 has served me quite well for 8~yrs out on the trails .. Mine does have some scratches on the crystal that I'm pretty sure I put their in some mtb incident or other. I really like mine as I kinda rescued it and it is custom~ for less than the price of a new DW5600E. Just last week I did have to buy new $10 NATO adapters cause I broke one of them riding a trail... luckily the other held and I didn't lose my watch, and I had to put a new battery in while I was at it, as mine was still running but if you tried the backlight the screen would blank out temporarily (low batt).
I must confess that i have thrown them in the trash when the battery died! Just went out and got a new one as they USED to be cheap and amazing value for money! Its a timeless classic ,no pun intended! I still have the 5600c and somehow that escaped the rubbish bin ,thankfully-
In the 90's, I would buy a new G-Shock about every two years and throw the old watch in the trash. Always the black square model. The plastic band would get squeaky and brittle and then break.
Of course it still works, but at the same time it's not even worth it. By the time you've cleaned it up and bought a new battery and strap, you've pretty much spent more time and money than it's worth over just getting a new one.

You have to touch the minus sign and the side of the battery at the same time with tweezers for about three seconds to reset it.

Tip no tweezers on battery and no fingers only a tip use plastic tweezers to grab the battery if you use steak tweezers you short the battery

If you look up G shock DW 5600 casebook it will show up. On my packet it said: Casio gasket 10245496
