- I now present to you my totally simple yet amazingly delicious Ghana style meatpie. This is very similar to empanadas. I am so proud of this recipe and I know you will be too. Try it and do let me know how it wentđ
Ingredients for filling:
2 lb ground beef
400 grams potatoes
500 grams onion
150 grams carrot
1 stock cube
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Ingredients for crust
500 grams all purpose flour (approximately 3 1/2 cups)
1/2 lb (1 cup or 2 sticks) butter. Your may also use margarine
3/4 cups milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt. - Jak na to + styl

I came across this recipe today while i was at wrk,i was so excited to try it that i stopped by at walmart after a 12 hour shift to buy the Kerigold butter .got home and made it and oh my gosh!!this is the best crust and the ginger in the beef filling tastes amazing.
I tried to upload the picture but i am not sucessful..kept saying 'cannot attach"
So glad you tried... and got to use kerrygold too. That and ginger make a huge difference.

Can the dough be premade and be stored in the fridge or freezer maybe a few days to a week in advance?
Did you use a full egg or just used egg yolk to brush the pies?
And did you use a bakingsheet? Or can we just oil the pan

Yes you can premake you dough. I've not kept it for as long as a week but it should be fine. It was the full egg please. Happy baking!!!đđđ

Hi. I have a question, I made the pie with cake flour. Some came out intact others were almost splitting apart wen I tried to lift them from the pan. The filling was also slightly greasy and I think I may have rolled the dough a bit thinner than half a centimetre. So do you think that it is the flour used or it is the oil from the filling and the over rolling. In Botswana here we have only cake flour and bread flour option. Thanks in advance

It sounds like it didn't have enough moisture and u didn't knead it. I knead my, it makes its flaky and crunchy.

His sis? What kind of flour did you use? It must be pastry or all purpose. Also make sure the liquid and butter(or margarine) are chilled. I hope this helps
