  • This video is all about providing some clarity on the 5 different TRACK modes in the C7 Grand Sport Corvette. A lot of owners don't realize in addition to the 5 normal drive modes, that the C7 has 5 additional Track modes, and there are a lot of differences between them.
    This is a guide on how to select the modes, how to decide which mode to use, and a few other tips and tricks that aren't explained in the owners manual.

      Hi Wybe De Vries,
      I really appreciate your kind words! I made this after having trouble finding a no-nonsense explanation of what the modes are and how they work.
      You might find this funny, but now, before I go do track events, I go rewatch my own video each time. I don't change modes all that much with normal driving, and given that it might be a few months in between times I do, I sometimes don't remember exactly what differences there are. I have this favorited on my phone too, so I can quickly access it if I'm at a track and looking for "a bit more slip or a bit more grip".
      Have a great day, and thank you very much for your kind words!

      Hi Pete!
      I appreciate the kind words, thanks for stopping by! I make new videos every week (for over 2.5 years), so there's a pretty big back-catalog there for you to check out if you're interested. I mostly cover Corvette stuff, but also have done a fair bit with Porsche's (including the new GT3 and Turbo S), as well as Mini.
      Anyway, thanks for reaching out, and have a nice day!

    Question, do the adjustments made in track mode continue in sport mode or are they only effective in track

    • @FredsFullThrottle
      @FredsFullThrottle  Před 2 lety

      Hi SMH,
      Thanks for reaching out! Sorry for the delayed reply, I have about 100 comments to sift through (I try to reply to everyone, it just takes a bit).
      The adjustments in track only apply to track. Sport mode doesn't have adjustments inside it like track does. While you can tune and tweak a few things like steering wheel weight, and exhaust sound, there isn't the traction and stability adjustments in Sport mode.
      Hope this helps!

      Mine's a 2017, but any of the C7's (Stingray/GS/Z06/ZR-1) should have these modes (as far as I know). The owners manual will definitely tell you as well, but it just doesn't give you any of the details that I put in my video (part of why I made it).
      Make sure you select Track first, then do the double press on the TC button, to get into the track menu. I don't recall if I mentioned this, but the car has to be running too. Once you're in track mode, if 2 presses doesn't do it, play around with pressing it 2 times fast, 2 times slower (about half second between), etc... I don't remember the exact timing, but I think it's about "one one thousand, two one thousand" (pressing when you say the one and two). Hope that helps!

    Just curious if the corvette c7 does the rev pop like the camaro ss manual?

    • @FredsFullThrottle
      @FredsFullThrottle  Před rokem

      Hi Jeep19,
      I believe it does. A few times when shifting and really pushing it I've heard really good "snaps" or "pops" when you first get into the next gear (upshifting). I think the timing has to be just right, but it sounds amazing. Not sure if this is what you meant, but I believe the answer is yes. Also the LT1 in the SS is the same engine as the GS, so I think its likely.
      Hope this helps

      @FredsFullThrottle  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for reaching out and for the kind words Scott! Also, congrats on the car!
      If I was to drag race, or try for a fast 0-60, here's what I'd do.
      - Get the tires nice and warm
      - Make sure my pressures are no higher than stock (30/30 front/back)
      - Track mode, then Sport 1 to start. If you find that the TC is stepping in too much, you can try Sport2 or Race. I would work my way up. When I've done track driving, I noticed a big difference in handling between the modes, but am not sure how obvious the changes are in a straight line. The TC settings will likely impact you more than the ESC settings because you won't be turning the car.
      - If you have a manual, I would read up on "no lift shift", which is the fastest way to shift safely in the manual (M7) car. It's a bit hard to do (from what I've read), but I did do a video on it here: (czcams.com/video/NIDkWIo8jFY/video.html) I haven't been brave enough to try it, but it is on your car, and it does work if you actuate it correctly. That will save you more tenths of seconds than just about anything. If you have an auto, I would play around with leaving it in auto mode, and then compare to manually using the paddles. I've heard people say one or the other is faster, but haven't driven an auto much to test myself.
      One other quick reminder, in your dashboard modes, under performance, there is a 0-60 timer which will keep track of your personal best 0-60 times. When you enable it, it automatically starts the timer as soon as you let off the clutch (or the car starts rolling forward). My best so far is 4.6, but I think I can do quite a bit better now.
      Keep in mind that it's very easy to break the tires loose in these higher modes, and you won't be able to just dump the clutch and floor it to get a fast start. It's gonna take some finesse, and practice. Make sure to only do this on a closed course.
      Disclaimer: I have to mention that this should only be done on a closed course and not on public roads. I haven't drag raced before, so this is just what I would try.
      Hope that helps! Good luck!
      -Fred

Yes, It's a great car. I have a 2017 Grand Sport and my son has this very car ^ also a 2017 Grand Sport - I still love my GT350 a TON more. - Just a better experience overall and more importantly - a shit-ton more fun to drive.

Congrats on the cars, the GT350 is a sweet car as well! I almost got one, but couldn't find one at the time without a $15k markup, which for the money I ended up going for the C7. Dude do you have a clue? You dont even mention performance traction management so I assume you dont know what it is. According to chevy sport 1 is the fastest mode because the car will use individual brakes to help you corner

    • @FredsFullThrottle
      @FredsFullThrottle  Před rokem

      Hahaha, no idea what you're on about. I shared the full table (from Chevy) of what the different modes do (including traction) czcams.com/video/lnJNnRBa5hU/video.html. Clearly you've never been to the track, Sport 1 is pretty heavily limited, especially by traction. Put your foot down in a corner and you can feel the cut power. I use Sport 1 when I'm learning a new track, and generally bump up to Sport 2 or Race once I'm comfortable.
      But no, I'm sure you're way more knowledgeable than me. Lol, you internet "experts" are hilarous!
