I just used Autosol, a rag and elbow grease. My two dirty, tar covered Staintune stainless steel bike silencers came up looking as good as new.
How rewarding is it to see the end results
I’ve only ever had rusty hulks for mufflers; never occurred to me that one could look so shiny! From one Andy to another, nice work and video!
Thanks Andy 😁👌 yeh I was really happy how it turned out
@@DriveWithAndywhich products used to cleaner?
@@jeanfxjeanfx I used iron X fallout remover, also autosmart tar remover. Then meguires ultimate compound
Great job! This is what I want to do on my own. Thanks for the video!
Looks great. Very satisfying as usual
Probably a pretty good idea to do if you ever have an exhaust that you're trying to sell online. Might be able to get a bit more money for it by having it look clean.
Yeh exactly. Clean used car parts should sell for more than neglected ones. Just like selling a car itself
Autosol Metal Polish is the best!
Try the Autosol Super Gloss for even more shine
Looking brand new
Perfect job absoluty
Looks great! What is that blue think you put over your pad when you were polishing?
It's a microfiber cover. Just so I didn't damage the foam pad
Brilliant 👏 👏 👏
About to polish an exhaust from a 1.9 TDI. Any tips to get 20 years worth of surface rust off without grinding through the exhaust itself?
Could always try some fall out remover and an abrasive pad to improve it. Found fallout remover on this helped with any on the surface. Depends how bad it is. As bringing it off may cause too much damage
@DriveWithAndy the rust looks like it will sand off but you have put a fair bit of pressure to sand it off and it takes a solid minute for 1 small space
@@theunknowngamer8321 then if it was me I'd use some sand paper, not too lower grade to try remove it then move to a finer higher grade paper to remove and then wet sand followed by polishing it back to a shine. Worth a go
Use Autosol Rustex
Nice job!
Hi, do you think a medium cut foam pad (chemical guys pad) with metal polishing compound (mothers) with a DA polisher would work? I want to polish the muffler on my Miata
Yeh I don't see why not. I would try finish with some fine cutting compound like the super resin polish if you want that more glossy smooth finish
Love the content! That exhaust looks incredible! Been looking at st150 for a while and I’m wondering if you think they’re worth it in 2022? Are they still reliable car? My dad us d to have one and I’ve wanted one every since
Thanks Lewis, appreciate it.
Yeh I can honestly say and I'm sure many others would say the same, that these cars are very reliable. The 2.0 Duratec engine is a good strong one. When looking for one make sure it's had the power steering pump done and belts plus service history etc
@@DriveWithAndy when you say the power steering pump? Do you mean the relocation kit?
@@lewishindmarsh1761 no not the relocation, just the standard pump is something these cars should of had by now either due to their age or mileage. But if it's had a relocation then that's great
screechers on a exhaust pope
What is that small tube/pipe used for ??
the thin metal bar? it is one of the mounts
@@DriveWithAndy thanks i have one on my bike and i have no idea what it is or where goes i cant seem to find anything online about it
Aside from polishing it and making it look good, what was the purpose of this video? I.e. were you talking it to a showcase, was it going to be sold, etc.
It was bought second hand as I didn't like how my custom catback for the car sounded. Not to my taste so got this, cleaned it up and fitted it and love the sound
Too much shit to do there is a paste that takes everything in seconds
Aaannnnndddd what is the paste
This is stainless steel, not aluminum
but.... why?
Why not
