- My Chemical Romance made their official return in Los Angeles at The Shrine on December 20th 2019, and, to mark the moment, we asked some of the fans attending the MCR reunion show to tell us just exactly why Gerard Way, Frank Iero, Mikey Way and Ray Toro mean so much and how the band created a real sense of community among them. My Chemical Romance means a lot to me, if I didn't discover them I probably would not be here today.... I lost someone very important to me and I started to tumble into depression.... My best friend saw this and he told me to listen to them.... So I did then I started watching their interviews and how this band is to help kids like myself.... The Black Parade and Helena are by far my favorite songs because Helena reminds me of loosing that important person and the black parade shows me that they moved on....
Gerard Way’s song “Don’t Try” was the song that made me stop cutting myself.
Famous Last Words was the song that saved me from suicide and when I start to feel that feeling of depression and get suicidal thoughts I always re-listen to that song because I am not afraid to keep on living. One of the main reasons I want to go to a MCR concert is also just because of the people. They’re people that went through very similar things as you and they remind you that you are not alone.
MCR also helped me be able to not be afraid of putting myself out there and actually find my talents. MCR reminded me that the best way to change the world is through art.❤️🖤❤️

I grew out of MCR many years ago as a band, and found more contemporary emo bands that have mature lyrics. So sadly, it doesn’t relate to me as individual because I’m clearly in a different part of my life, but I still think they’re awesome and wouldn’t mind seeing them play live.
But I’m glad it helped you as it did others.

when mcr got back together, I was still in a mental health unit, and all my therapists were saying ‘we’re so happy for you!’ because they knew mcr getting back together would save me.

my chem have helped me get sm better too. i know l frank basically got me out of inpatient last year. well getting tickets for tøp got me out like a month early too lol but frank was my rock for the whole time even though idek him. i hope ur doing ok at the moment. recovery is possible and u deserve it!!

Gerard Way does have a “whiny” voice...which I don’t think is bad at all. Actually, their first album was screamo, lol, then it transitioned to post-hardcore.

My Chemical Romance is the reason I'm still here. They inspired me to make my own band. MCR gave me a place and a sound where I could go during bad times. I thought I had no other choice, but they made me see there's always an option. Keep Running my friends.
I can't count the times that I couldn't get myself out of bed so I'd put on MCR and then I'd be doing dishes dancing and crying. :,)

I’ve just got into MCR 2 years ago. I started listening to alt-rock and found that my emo phase, kinda was end a phase. MCR, P!ATD, TØP and FØB helped me find the friends I have today. I wish I could tell them all “Thank You”

MCR are awesome and the mean a lot to me and my friends and help me throughout hard times and including with 2019 not really being my year and I got my sister into them recently and I’m proud and I’m trying to get back into my playing my guitar 😭😭😂😂💜💜

Not only mcr, but the guys and their solo projects have done so much for me too. They literally mean the world to me. I wouldn't be who I am today without them.

Also, I was thankful to have found out about mcr. Unfortunately I found out about them in 2015. But they’ve always been the biggest inspiration of mine. I’m done my first anthology of poems and their lyrics have been a huge supportive factor.
Mcr has taught me, like all the interviewed people said, hope, safety, support, and has given me a meaning to still be here. 3 years ago, I'm only 13 btw, I used to think that I had no meaning and I was a waste of space because every1 at school and nearly everywhere I went would look at me weirdly for the way I acted. But ever since I found MCR they have convinced me and taught me that it's okay to be weird and not 'normal' according to societies standards. And that creativity is allowed and I'm allowed to have my own mind and thoughts instead of me thinking that I need to go with everyone else because they are all right and they are all better than me. If it weren't for them, I wouldve been 6 feet under YEARS AGOOOO. Plus, who cant love our sassy gee, our princess fro fro, our cute but wild frankie, and our unicorn mikey 😁.I so wish I could tell them how much they mean to me but I cant since I live in a complete different country(New Zealand) and my family doesnt have the money to send me to any concert, even if it was here in NZ. But I'm still eternally grateful that I can sit here behind my screen and support them from across the world proudly because now, I am not afraid to keep on living and I am not afraid to walk this world alone, even if I'm not okay or if I'm feeling like I'm the ghost of you. I love you MCR. I love you so much. Thank you for being our life savers

They mean so much to me, words wouldn’t do it justice. I first discovered their music when I really needed it (or as mcr said ‘when your heart begins to break’) when I had super low self confidence, parent issues and not that many friends at school. Now they’ve come back at just the right time as I’m struggling with life at the moment and feeling suicidal but their returned presence has given me so much hope. They’ve inspired me to learn the guitar and ukulele as well as finding a new passion for drawing and painting. I’m desperate for them to come to the UK soon and I’m hopefully getting an mcr tattoo later this year!
I am a recent fan, and MCR is exactly the music which is my taste, (after listening to only one of those songs I knew I will become a fan already) Their music always gives me some hope and it feels great to listen to such songs,This is also the first band which has made me feel this way and I have gone through this year listening to them, I love their music!
I cant put into to words how glad I am that this video exists. Seeing so many people express the same emotions I have about MCR is crazy! This band is so special. MCR made so many people feel heard, valid, hopeful, stronger... the lists goes on and on. I truly would not be the person I am today without MCR. I wouldn't be as artistic, as true to myself, or as passionate. I don't know if I would even be alive. They made me feel more normal, more okay. Their music gave me an outlet and a better understanding of mental health and feelings everyone goes through. They gave us all something to beleive, and that never ends.

MCR has helped me through so much I mean I can’t even begin. They’ve helped and is still helping me through my problems with perception meds and when I was starving myself. They saved me that night I though about ending it all and was very close to. They helped me with those mornings I couldn’t get out of bed for school and when i would turn on there music it made me feel alive and so much better. They made me feel like I fit in and the fans made me feel like I fit in. When I’m around my friends I put on this mask and shell but when I’m with fans of MCR or jamming in my room to there music it’s the real me. I appreciate the band and the people that can make it happen💕
mcr means the world to me. they influence most every aspect of my life, even in the most minute ways. they inspire my art, they make me wanna write music, they make me wanna do something more. in seeing and rediscovering them, i was finally able to see myself. it's amazing how many people they've saved and lives they touched

My chemical romance has been the one thing that kept me alive. I've been inspired to create
Y'know, in high school (and admittedly early college) I would have been clowning on these types of people pretty hard. But to be honest, the passion that they have when talking about MCR is very sincere and pure. It's like watching someone's eyes light up in excitement when talking about a subject that they're into. Honestly reminds me how I would have talked about an act like Linkin Park or some other band in the early 2000's.
(I still think saying that they "saved you lives" is taking credit away from you, as the strong person you are to keep on pushing through to today. Don't give them the true credit that you really deserve.)
They mean the world to me, oh my gosh! I definitely wouldn't be here, physically or here in the way that I've grown if it wasn't for the hope and the strength they gave me. They've helped me fuel basically everything, positive and negative, into a craft and a passion. They've made me so happy. I am so proud of them and their solo projects, I love seeing what they do next. I feel like they've helped give my life meaning, purpose, drive, and an incredible family and community that is so supportive. You don't have to be afraid to express who you are, it's amazing💛
