Written by Van Morrison
Half a mile from the county fair
And the rain keep pourin' down
Me and Billy standin' there
With a silver half a crown
Hands are full of a fishin' rod
And the tackle on our backs
We just stood there gettin' wet
With our backs against the fence
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Hope it don't rain all day
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me
Then the rain let up and the sun came up
And we were gettin' dry
Almost let a pick-up truck nearly pass us by
So we jumped right in and the driver grinned
And he dropped us up the road
We looked at the swim and we jumped right in
Not to mention fishing poles
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Let it run all over me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me
On the way back home we sang a song
But our throats were getting dry
Then we saw the man from across the road
With the sunshine in his eyes
Well, he lived all alone in his own little home
With a great big gallon jar
There were bottles too, one for me and you
And he said, "Hey, there you are"
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Get it myself
From the mountain stream
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me - Hudba
Had a really crappy day…then found this little beauty….made the world go away for a few golden moments..don’t you luv when that happens..🇨🇦
Hey Pauline I hope your days have gotten better God bless you.
Yes..two brilliant poet songwriters!
More and more everyday
Keep your head up, mrs/ miss Pauline!
My day always gets bad every time I'm happy
Van is a great poet, and one of the best songwriters of all time. Bob is a great songwriter, and one of the best poets of all time.
You have been reading my mind and my inner thoughts and you are completely correct in what you say
I will have no problem fully agreeing with your wise words because they are completely true
...or vice-versa ?
Keep on dreaming!.
1984 Bob Dylan ended his European tour with a performance at Slane Castle in Ireland. During his 2hour set Dylan brought out Van, Carlos Santana and Bono to join him on stage..Was an evening to remember..
Wow that must have been amazing
ha ha, i grew up going to that very spot like every weekend - i never knew Morrison and Dylan had sat there to jam - i mean that place was always had this kind of mystical feeling to it but having seen this i see why its magic never faded away
I'd love to visit the spot. Could you give directions? @tostesson
An underrated Van Morrison song. It was funny how Van forgot the lyrics. Nice harmonies by Dylan. I'm glad these two are still kicking.
Underrated? Says who else???Quit flapping your gums , natey
1989,dude
Dylan had the good sense not to try to sing over Van-😃
Underrated lol don't think so mate
Van wants to know Where Have All The Rebels Gone ?
Being part of that camera crew would have been the highlight of my life.
On the Mt Rushmore of music...Dylan and Van the Man get a piece!!!! Love this. Thanks!
Two legends showing how easy music can be and still slay you.
I just saw Van Morrison here in the States a couple months ago. Dude still has it. Fantastic show.
You just called my favorite cousin a Dude, Van will be smiling when I tell him that he has been called a Dude
Van’s latest album is an antisemitic pile of dogshit
I still wait to see Van Morrison. He is a legend of today and tomorrows tomorrow.
@@jamesbradshaw3389 is that a fact?
@Bill Miller Just hope you know what your saying? Seen him from the beginning. Last great concert he did was 1974 ! But haven't heard of him in the 2000s
Down the road from the Acropolis in Athens there's a temple to Poseidon at Sounion, on the tip of the Attic peninsula. Byron carved his name in the stone and you can still see it. Watching Van Morrison and Dylan sing with the Parthenon in the background was like seeing our poets communing with the muses. Thanks so much.
The Apostle Paul preached the gospel of Jesus Christ at Areopagus in northwest of the Acpropolis in Athens Greece. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16/ Jesus Christ is the way,and the truth and the life and no one can come to the Father except through Him. John 14:6/ Salvation is found in no other. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:20/ It is destined for men to die once and after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27
Byron had it right - leave your mark.
I love these two, each in their own very special way. God bless and keep them.
I just love Van the man. What a voice, what words!
2 of the greatest songwriters ever, along with Richard Thompson, and Townes Van Zandt. Van the Man amazing talent.
big call don't you think?
Townes will make a grown man cry
Robert Hunter too
Guy Clark to
Townes is fantastic. I'll have to check out Richard Thompson
I love this duo, but Athens was for both a good time that we share with pleasure ..... thank you for putting it back in my memory and in my heart ... good day Woolhy ♥♥♥
Bob forgot the chords and Van immediately looks like he needs a drink, But they still make magic. Their voices by themselves are a part of our collective dreaming. Together they create memories of things yet to come. True time lords
Things to come? Help me out?
Dylan is an overated musician....but a good poet...the legend thing is a bit much...there are many better musician poets out there....Crosby...Young...Mitchell....and more......Dylan is a symbol of an era where folk finally hit the big time ....but regardless of the many classics he is not necessarily the greatest ....just one of the greats !!
?
@Keith Smith Obviously u weren't around in those days or your not in touch with history and plain facts genius!
What have you accomplished? Right ! Nothing
I am 71 and have followed these guys my entire life. I have gone back and forth on who’s music library I’d chose if I were stranded on a deserted island and could only have the music of one person to listen to for the rest of my days.
Van the Man hands down
@@TheGrooveMaster10 with Van you get it all…rock, blues and jazz. So i’m leaning towards Van over Bob.
Make sure you carry a good battery pack with you. Better yet, stay off of boats. 🏝
So cool them getting it together to sing together on a dry day in Greece! Love it! Thanks A!🙏🤍
Together? I see Dylan not knowing the words and not wanting to be there.
@@Frankie5Angels150 That’s not what I see at all! Totally different artists with mutual admiration for one another’s art. Bob has a different way than Van and he’s listening he’s never we been an upstager.
Damn, raw and no auto tune....beautiful!
Right.?!
And tune their guitars by ear!!!
I'm not a fan of autotune, but that's because i'm old. just like those old farts who called Dylan Judas for daring to go electric. Don't criticise what you don't understand.
Two of the best to EVER do it, thank u guys for everything u've given our(my) ears 🎶true poet troubadours🎶
Van Morrison, one of the great voices in Rock and Roll history.
And his wonderful voice is STILL making new music! 😊
Bob! You cut! Your a freaking godd of song writer's. I barly had any money, in school, but paid for your concert.
Hommage, yeah, yeah sixty years of!
Can't even imagine? The whole thing, Van the Man!! & of course the background!! Good Lord, I would have been the closest to Heaven I've ever been!!!
Best part of this is two men who are essentially equals in the business. No pretense just great back and forth with van and Dylan taking turns being the others Oates or Garfunkel
This is one of my favourite songs because it reminds me of my childhood.
How good is this? 2 undeniable musical geniuses. Dylan is Dylan nothing else really needs to be said but Van. Wow! Simply The most soulful white human being who ever walked the planet earth.
A small correction, Van is the most soulful human to walk the earth.
I love seeing rare footage of both Van and Bob together. Great song, Thank you. 🙌 ✨ 🌠 🌌
`The Last Waltz`....`I Shall Be Released`. What a concert!
Really down, could'nt be feeling worse. Found this and came back to life
A beautiful song. I got to see Bob Dylan twice live never seen Van Morrison live. Hopefully someday I will.
Phantastic , i find it just now...im happy ..cause i know VAN since 50 years
Im a Greek girl
Van and Bob are quintessential musicians. They meet exactly at the music. Nothing more, nothing less.
I met the camera man who filmed this when I visited Holywood (Vans home town) in Northern Ireland (next to Belfast).. oh the stories I heard! First time I've seen the Outtakes, which are always entertaining haha.. cheers to these two legends!
Two Living Legends Van Morrison and Bob Dylan
Best of the Best ❤🎶
What a fantastic song with great songwriters and a absolute epic back drop!
🍻
These two guys may be getting old, but their music never does.
My favorite Van Morrison song, and to see them sing together, awesome!
Bob looks so cute!
Thank you ❤
Sooo cute 💞👍☺️😄
Allways fascinating to see these little shocks in his face, neck in fact the whole of his body when Dylan is playing. The music, the rythm and phrasing is ín him, comes from deep out of his body.
Those two always sounded magical together. This video was cool... I too wasn't having the best day, and found this, good music is the best medicine. Thank you ❤️ and it stoned me to my soul and it stoned me like going home...
👍💞
2 of the greatest minds in lyrics composition in the world
This song is one of the best song ever !
Do I love this???? Yes I do!!! Real Instruments, Real Music!!! Today's world can't handle real!!
Van is making all the music but the cameraman is fascinated with Bob
Precisely. I love Bob but he's doing very little here.
@@robertnewell5057 I do too, but I imagine Van thinking `Damn, the man can't carry a tune in a bucket.'
Oh, FK YES! Love these two so much. Thanks to the person who uploaded! 💐
It blows my mind how Bob always seems so shy, reserved, and uncertain with others. Like he doesn’t want to mess anything up.
When he’s just with his band, he don’t give no worry!
He did not like presence of cameras and shit you know.... especially here. Somehow it gets too personal. First i think it's like he's irritated of the bad tuning skills of morrison, but not really tho...
Wonder if he is jealous and doesn’t want anybody else to sound good. Almost certainly not but he never remembers anybody else’s songs.
@@andymaciver1760 Yeah - and you are a genius.
@@mjwestoo4 not really...I just can't stand Bob Dylan. The stuff from the traveling willburys was good
Maybe he just likes to be reserved - Like 'ya, that's my song...No biggie...
Songs as good as this come across strongly with just guitar and vocals. Very uplifting performance
Tru dat
I just love out takes of geniuses...Get to see a little of how they work...is always thrilling to listen and watch to...
Yes what a great thing to find 👏
Two Greats! Thank God for them in this Generation.
All the performances of Morrison/Dylan the BBC recorded in Athens are just so good.
Van Morrison & Bob Dylan amazing.
I wish I could get a copy of those recordings
Van & Bob, Bob & Van 2 of the very most important men in modern music by a long country mile
Two legends that God created. The world is a happy place to live in. 🙂
Dont bring your imaginary friend into this
Thank you God
Well said Carl. Thank you Brother. 🙏☺️
Beautiful! Wonderful! Spectacular! Congratulations ! ❤❤❤
Awesome! Thanks for making this available.
5 years later they each 'opened' for Joni Mitchell. I expected a rough show from those old timers. It was the best concert I've ever heard! They all played separate sets, and they were all at peak form. It was an outdoor concert in eastern Washington, The Gorge.
I was there! Great show.
I saw all 3 in L.A a few years after you saw them in Washington. They played separate sets, and I love all three. I had never seen Dylan before and he totally rocked his live set.
I was there....!
I remember almost going to that show at the Gorge, but then thinking that they'd be washed up and it would be better to remember them in their youth. Now a full three decades later, I would give anything to see them in that setting.
My second favourite VM song. My number one is Independence Day. Sweet Thing a close third.
I'm not sure why this seems like a fairy tail in a good way, but it does. I'm not going to question that wonderful feeling, I'm just going to soar with it!!! My Sweet Beautiful Lord, thank You for the deep breath I just took out of nowhere!!!
Very fine duett! Thnx so much!
Thnx 4 your like, dear Mr. Woolhall!
Love Van. He’s so cool
He's actually a bit of a wank**. Mate of mine built a garden wall for him years ago and the whole time he was there he was ordered to never be in sight when Van was coming home/going out. He was there for 2 weeks, had to hide every time Van was about, and never even got so much as a good morning the whole 2 weeks, despite building a beautiful wall for the man.
Van looks like my old geography teacher here.
Hello Becky 👋 how are you doing today??
Two of the best & between them Bob and Van wrote & Sang some of the best ever 🌿💯🌿
At this time I was on Cyprus island as an UN- Soldier. 🇺🇳. What a great time! Greetings from Linz Austria 🇦🇹😎👍⛷🏔🍺🥨🛶🐺 Europe!
Love these two ❤️ legends 😊❤️😊
Cannot watch/listen to this once. Back today to watch true music legends collaborate. VM has a certain soulfulness that always seems to initiate my godamn tear ducts....
Wow, nice harmony by Dylan! This is one of my favorite songs.
Holy cow what a find. Very cool.
Thanks for sharing made my week!
I just find it by luck.. VAN IS ny thats amazing
Thank You. I've been looking for this...once upon a time I had a copy on NAPSTER.
What a sight to behold, two of the very greatest music men of all times Saint Van & the most blessed and holy Bob, How lucky are we to have those 2 men still recording and playing their music at this time
And then there's God on his Stairway!
Bob finished his 1989 European Tour in Greece and the BBC got a crew out there for the Van documentary. Bob is always very gracious to people he respects and Van falls into that catergory nicely.
Two enormous music talents near each other's sphere of influence.
@@petersonlafollette3521 🤝👍❣🤩💃
Yes, indeed! I recall Van and John Lee Hooker...some of the most lovely in Blues history, such immense mutual respect.
Both acted like they hated being there.
I needed to listen to this song today 💥🤯 exactly
This is by far the 3rd best video on CZcams!
Oh I loved you both most of all since a near child and I love this song ,you both are the best you didn't know that without this sweetheart telling you { funny words for the day} anyway love to you both happiness happy spring 2024 Blessings prayers for peace ✌️ in Israel 🇮🇱 love jet'aime morgan taylor hilton

Funny thing happened to me the other day. I was at the Acropolis and who’d I run into? Bobby Dylan!
all the tech equipment i got, and this old video pisses on it, wonderful, many thanks, i see bobs coming along nicely, it takes time
Astral weeks will forever be burnt in my soul along with my first lost love.
Not sure Bob had ever heard this song before. And Van had forgotten it.
Sums it up. Anything else is fantasy.
Agree..Dylan was feeling his way..and Van M. was dredging it up .Great voice, VM..and Dylans behind his is memorable..but feel that it was a bit 'staged'...Probably needed a few beers to get the best out of the situation .
Dylan has certainly heard this song before, he’s pretty well listened, this song was from a major hit, and Van was a contemporary
Love this amazing video!
Van should record an album “unplugged”, just him and his guitar singing all these great songs. He also did “Crazy Love” with Dylan on this Greek mountain top. I believe it is his greatest rendition of “Crazy Love”, better than the studio version imho.
he has an album of accoustic recordings from the late 60s- early 70s . its called unplugged in the studio i think and crazy love is on it
He does its called live at pacific high studios and he plays an unplugged set in front of a small audience and he actually does Dylans just like a women and it's an amazing version.
@adamwatson6916 I was in that audience, and Van is a legend.
2 legends of folk Together
Thank you, WOOLHALL
A couple recluses who loved music. Loved it.
👍🕺
Van can't remember his own song , & Bobs' just happy to be there , !!!
Nice.I used to play this in band I was in
Thank God we are looking at 2 LIVING legends.
Forgot how I loved this song.
Cool to see this, inspiration for a simple acoustic rendition.
I love Adam sandler
Farley on the left?
I wanna grow old with you.
To see Van forget the words makes me feel a bit better about myself! Love this video.
Oh my God thank you❤️
I’ve been to Athens Georgia and I don’t remember it looking so good.
They must be a blast at a party, great talents, but a wee smile wouldn't go a miss.
Have a great little story for you. Many many years ago [approx 30 years] I walked into a little greasy spoon cafe in Bangor , N.Ireland and took a seat. Once settled in I could not help but notice a most miserable looking chap sitting in the corner who looked a bit like a tramp, and with a great scowling face. Then another guy walked in and they started into conversation, it was then that I recognised the guy was Van Morrison lol.
Could never get tickets to see Van in Edinburgh, tried n tried then last year he was unusually playing at the Playhouse in Ediburgh. Couldn't believe it when I actually got tickets in the Stalls. A few days to go and I caught COVID, had to cancel, gutted!!!
Love it!
Love the line about " we were getting dry. And van needs a drink
It s great to see these young soft skinned maestros of rock and roll just kicking it out before the Parthenon like isadira Duncan did back in 1921 or was it 1911 before the first world War. Van the voice.
Sadly, he omitted the 3rd verse, which contains another, even more on-point, line:
_On the way back home_
_we sang a song_
_but our throats were gettin' dry..._
This is around the time I saw them perform the Irish music festival in London which Incan’t spell… sounds like “Flaar”. They don’t half seem a miserable pair of souls considering the talent they both have….maybe that’s part of what drives the amazing soulfulness of their performances.

Live from the Parthenon, two Legends about to become Gods.
Love this cheers

Great Go..
Van Has assisted Many..
As Bob..
