That play looks amazing when you think it was a trailer pass. When you realize the first pass got intercepted and the def literally did the first thing you learn not to do in hockey, never EVER do a blind pass in front of your own net, you just laugh at how justice was served for the irresponsible check upon Perry after the bell at the end of the 1st period.

Nothing is more uniting in this wonderful country of Canada than a victory of this magnitude that solidifies our pride in our national game of ice hockey. We gave the world a game of speed, finesse, punishing body checks and a whole lot more. I am 72 and have witnessed many international hockey games and Canada is the true nation of champions. This game was a demonstration of how great this sport is when it is played by two great teams such as what was witnessed in the 2010 Olympics.

Thanks for your comment. I wasn't quite a teenager during this game - I was with my mom and she was one of leaders at a Canadian military boarding school. I'll still remember the night when everyone in the boarding house was permitted to stay up late to watch the game and the reaction around me when Crosby scored. Truly unforgettable. It went from extremely tense and dead silent to all of us hugging and screaming with joy. Its been over a decade but I can still remember the pride, excitement, and warmth of that moment. One of the most profoundly happy experiences of my life. Over a decade later and now I can't wait to tell my kids about what it was like to witness Crosby scoring the golden goal!!

What a game! I still remember watching it live! I remember that the entire 401 in Toronto was empty. Not a single car on the highway, with everybody glued to their television sets to watch this epic game.
What a match up against our favourite neighbour, the USA. They had grit, and arguably better goaltending. We were full of superstars. I was genuinely concerned that Ryan Miller would steal this game for the USA.
How fitting that Crosby should be the one to get the winning goal. Everything that guy touches turns to gold.

Thx for this upload. Funny thing is, I never enjoyed what a fantastic, hard hitting, fast paced game this was when I watched it live because there was too much tension. And when Parise scored late, things took a serious emotional downturn. That, of course, made the OT even more tense.
This time around, watching in 2023, I could just appreciate what high level, incredible hockey these two teams put on. One of the best games ever played. The US really came to play. I appreciate their skill and efforts in this final.
In the end it was one of the sweetest moments of national pride I’ve ever felt.
