      Ya too focused on Brompton and stopped selling their version of an electric Brompton years before Brompton offered their version because Brompton told them to stop because they were working on their own version. Sad.

    Having both an M3L and an H3R at my disposal, I can say that the latter is my first choice for my daily commute through cross-town traffic, onto the trains and then some heavy innercity traffic and vise versa. It rides a bit slower and is more heavy, but it is very sturdy (and stable on board the rickety trains they use here) and more comfortable, the B&M LED lights add a good visibility into the mix. The M3L I use for fun, on longer trips and on empty roads.

    Very clear explanation! I had a doubt. I'm planning to do the Great Allegheny Passage trail on a Brompton, so how would a 3 speed fare on it vs a 6 speed?

    • @nycewheels
      @nycewheels  Před 5 lety +1

      You'll definitely want a 6 speed for any kind of touring rides, the gear range will make climbing hills much easier, and it will also be easier to pedal through the packed dirt trail when you have lighter gears.

    Hi! Great video. I'm looking to modify my 2-speed S Brompton for better rolling through airports. I'm an airline employee, and I'll be rolling it from the plane to the hotel van, to the room, etc. It has no rack now. Should I invest in a minimalist rack and fender wheel setup? Step right up to the full rack? Just get larger Easy wheels? Where should I start? Thanks.

      i know you posted a long time ago, but if you're still looking, you can get extender wheels - they're custom parts, and they cost £70 or so like here www.londoncraftwork.co.uk/Eazy_Wheels_Extender_for_BROMPTON/p4666612_18419632.aspx

    Just a comment from the UK perspective: you mentioned big and small rings which would normally refer to the chainset whilst you I think intended to refer to the twin sprockets at the rear.

    Thankyou for a precise and understandable video. I have 2 questions.
    1, I am 5’1” with a short body and arm reach and prefer an upright cycling position. Would the H handlebars be suitable for me?
    2, Are Brompton suitable for country cycling on gravel or cycleways made from old railway tracks? Thankyou.

    • @zero_g_716
      @zero_g_716 Před 4 lety

      Valerie PenroseE-Lock Hi there, I’ll recommend the M handlebars. Brompton are designed for either city or long distance riding, so if you want to do some gravel ride, you can choose the fender-less version and put slightly wider tyres on your Brompton. Hope it helps.

    • @Inkling777
      @Inkling777 Před 2 lety

      True, being folding imposes a lot of constraint on the design. You can, however, rotate the handlebar to make it higher or lower and closer to the rider. Ebay also sells a "Brompton LitePro Handlebar Stem Height Riser Extender" that lets you add a bit more height, again rotating it or not. For that you'll need a hex wrench.

    Do you think a brompton is a good bike to learn to ride on? Basically just make it easier to learn - since it has smaller wheels?

    • @nycewheels
      @nycewheels  Před 6 lety +2

      The smaller wheels actually make the steering a bit more responsive to minor movements, which might be more of a challenge for a beginner rider. Larger wheels will be easier to learn to ride on, but when you're comfortable with your riding a Brompton is certainly a very unique and practical bike to own.

    I've been riding this bike for about a month czcams.com/users/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
