Growing up in Metro Detroit, Bob Probert brought me more happiness and enjoyable moments then any sports athlete ever has. He was so fun to watch. The good old days of Hockey! I will never forget Probie #24. RIP Probie
I am also from the Detroit area and i was 15 when probie was in his prime and we would run into the house to turn on the red wings game just to watch Probert , he was a beast in his prime, definitely miss them days and hockey will never be the same.

Growing up in St. Louis and being season tix holders from '88-'99, I got to witness that old 'Chuck' Norris Division rivalry from '88-'93 when you were guaranteed a bench clearing brawl every game. That old St. Louis Arena would erupt for fight night more than a lazy Hull goal fest. Hell, the local news station would put up a potential fight card bout before the game started to pit enforcer vs. enforcer and 99% of the time the fight would happen. The violence is what got me into playing hockey and I still play it today in an elite league. The NHL died when they allowed the gayest team in all of sports to enter - the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. RIP WOKE NHL.

When they go you can see how fast Probert's hands are. The fight in general is so intense and Cochrane hangs in there but like most gets out lasted by Probie.
Great fight. Cochrane was an uncontrollable wild man in his prime. He gave Probert the edge here by squaring off. But Probie was a different animal here. His head was up all through the fight whereas Cochrane seemed always on the defensive. A passing of the torch as such...

This is a really vivid memory for me. The intensity in Chicago Stadium is incomparable, anywhere. A prime 1981-85 Cochrane would have given Probie a great fight but at this point Glen was through. Probert had the arm length of 6'7 guy. It was really hard to get inside against him because he had rare balance for a bigger dude.

Then when cable came around they carried road games and a few home games but not many. Unless you went to a bar or had a dish no TV for the most part! Glen Cochrane in his prime was as good as any NHL fighter ever. He owned Bob Nystrom like no one else and was nowhere near his prime at this point of his career vs Probie. Look at his Philly years, did he ever lose there?? I cant think of one loss as a Flyer.
Lindy Ruff fought Cochrane in 81 I think it was. And it was a close thing. Could be called a draw as Ruff done surprisingly well against the much bigger man..

Cochrane was toast when the Hawks acquired him and proved to be a waste of time as their enforcer. Probert was nearly unbeatable at that time and tuned Cochrane here, too bad the cocaine ruined him afterwards

When Probert came to Chicago, the team would not play him until he completed rehab. Good for his health but bad for the club because that maniacal fighter turned into a fair fighter.
Bad fight for Glen and his worst loss - even worse than the uppercut he took from from Byers. Everyone picks on Dave Semenko, but Geez...Sammy did way better with prime Probert than the highly rated Glen Cochrane did here. They did fight. Probert was with chicago and simon colorado. Simon was in his prime and probert just past his. Simon won the fight.

Everyone picks on Dave Semenko, but Geez...Sammy did way better with prime Probert than the highly rated Glen Cochrane did here. That was complete and utter destruction, not some lucky punch type victory. Yeah, I know Gen was older but so was Semenko when Probert tko'd him in fight #2.
