Let’s remember, there are a lot of products out there that (try to) do this! My method is 100% free, it has no additional bulky parts or things to pack and loose! It is also much (MUCH) quicker!!! The hardest part of this is being brave enough to take the point off! ( and if you don’t like it…. Put it back on!) Try it, have fun, be safe!
I was just at the beach on Monday with a brand new umbrella with NO instructions as to how to install safely. Needless to say we ended up having to leave the umbrella on the ground. I'm ripping that point off as soon as I get home. Thank you for sharing!
I made the same discovery almost 2 months ago by accident when the point fell off. This works fantastic especially when learning into the wind. My wife and I laughed so much as you were using what I thought was my original idea. I don’t know why they don’t just sell the umbrellas this way.
Awesome Bob! Panama City Beach is 3 hours away from me. I'll check out the beach store, season winding, should be some good sales. Bob? How about a line of "Bob Calleja Custom Mermaid Beach Umbrellas" ! Love that mermaid umbrella! Thanks for the Pro tip!
I use an anchor and also tie one end of a piece of paracord to the umbrella and the other to the umbrella bag filled with sand, and put the sandbag against the pole.
You want to lean the umbrella against the wind else it probably will get out pretty quickly (: so it should be >>>>>\. I am going to try this tomorrow at the beach! I hope it will work so I don't need to buy any umbrella anchor (: Thank you for sharing this!
@@Ryuux1 thanks for the clarification on that... I was also thinking what might work well is to put a recycle bag through the umbrella shaft before you drive it into the sand then fill the recycle bag with sand and tie the handles around the shaft and you have extra insurance
Update! it won't work if you are very close to the sea since the sand underneath is starting to be wet and it will stop the umbrella pole to go deep ): I will give it one more try next time just for fun if I am not close to the sea (:

This man is a legend. The movie I Am Legend was based on him lol.
Not only is he fine as hell but he's also a genius!
That umbrella is fire
Thank you. My umbrella kept flying away until I did as you recommended 👌
Don’t forget to rinse out the metal tube every so often with fresh water and spray it with WD40 before you store it, so it doesn’t rust.
no one has time to do that. Let it rust. It will take 20 years before you will have problem.
Thanks Bob I'm always worried about the umbrella as it has flown off. The tips are greatly appreciated!!
Definitely doing this at the beach Thanks, Bob!
Nice umbrella dude
thanks, great info. and love the umbrella!
Great advice, thanks! Good little video.

Genius! God bless you bro I'm going to try this tommorow. Just the foresight that I had looking this up, means that I'm getting older and wiser. Ty !
Genius. Thanks Bob
I dig I dig I dig, I reach deep damp sand, I push it in the sand, I cover it with the damp sand I removed, never budges :D
This worked so good with a anchor on the windiest day!!!

You can also tie the string to the base of the pole.
Thank you

When you say “into the wind” does that mean >>>>/ or >>>>\ ? (arrows are wind slashes are umbrella)
