  • Hey guys!! We found a new way to install beach umbrellas so they are secure and will not blow away! And it is much quicker than digging a hole yourself or using a plastic anchor! We like a lot of shade and multiple umbrellas for our family. This method is super fast in the morning when you are setting up your family beach site for the day! 🏖

We take an old duffle bag and fill it with sand then secure it to the umbrella with a couple of bungee cords

Hi! I am liking this tip - but where do you attach the bungee cords to the umbrella? On the underside of the umbrella? It seems like this would definitely keep it in place - thanks for sharing your tip!!

I go to Laguna Beach ( Panama City beach west end ) in summers , there’s a huge dedicated beach . This year I noticed the professional guy w all the chairs & umbrellas installing down the beach - he used a drill (!!) I was shocked ! With this huge drill bit and easily placed all these heavy rentals in place !

This is absolutely brilliant. Too bad I came to the beach without my drill. I'll be buying one at Home Depot just for this reason because I'm here for a month. It'll be worth every dime. :-)

After years of using the screw in anchors, I’m so glad I tried this. Not only does it save time but it’s so easy. August at the beach is hot and screwing in several umbrella can work up quite a lather. Sort of ruins coffee time. Not anymore!!

I had this idea and I am wondering if it can be used in my backyard in the soil. Will that thing drill through soil? I was thinking I could drill a hole and then tap down a big enough width of PVC pipe to create a permanent spot to put my umbrella. I also agree with you on the safety factor I’ve seen umbrellas flying around on the beach and they really could kill somebody! Thank you for the video!

The way people are today they will claim it and when you come out they will say its theirs and then how do you prove it? I hate leaving stuff unsupervised. I've had so many things stolen over the years while we were away from the umbrella. I cant imagine leaving all my stuff out there and then going back in.

This may prevent the umbrella from falling over but will not prevent the umbrella from lifting straight up. The canopy of an umbrella acts like an airfoil. Check out the Bernoulli Principle and see why an unweighted umbrella is extremely dangerous. Lottie Belk lost her life when a wooden shafted umbrella inserted 22” into the sand went airborne hit her in the chest and killed her. All umbrellas should be weighted...period.
