    It's been a month since I put the seeds to germinate. I did get a good germination rate. I was growing impatient on them, as they don't show any visible growth. I ordered seeds on January 12th and I'm patiently waiting for them to get here so I can start them! I didn't have great success the first time around with echeverias, but I'm confident that I will have better luck now with all the information you have shared. I have a couple dozen sempervivums that I started from seed that are doing fantastic though - I have found that they grow much quicker and are a bit more resilient than echeveria seeds! Would love to see an update video on your succulent collection!

    Thank you for these videos! I have such a hard time finding good resources for growing from seed and you cover so many topics here. I have a few questions and I'd love your thoughts:
    1. If you do discover some fungus in your seedling tray (say you maybe didn't sterilize the soil perhaps...), what can you use to manage it? Have tried both cinnamon and adding a small amount of 3% H2O2 to my water. H2O2 seems to be better but I might be imagining it.
    2. How close together can you place the seeds in the potting medium?
    3. Have you grown sempervivums from seed? I've had very low germination rates for them and have heard sometimes you need to leave them in the cold for a while and try again if they don't sprout.

    This was sooo informative thank you!!! I am growing mine from seed ! It took three weeks to see a little stem it makes me sooo happy! Big thank you for the window talk tip info. I am in Canada and right now they are near the south window indoor. But our winters…:/ I’ll have to invest in a light… do the light keep the succulent warm ??? Do you have any recommendation ? :)

    • @AngelsGrove
      @AngelsGrove  Před 3 lety

      The lights kept mine a little warmer, if the room is still cold, you might want to get a heat mat too but I have got success without one, probably depends on the space. I absolutely love gardener supply lights, but they are pretty pricey. You can find some on Amazon for pretty cheap, they sell ones that are just a single bulb and if you have a small set up, that might work for you. Our nursery also sells lights, so you could check a local nursery to see if they have any. If you order on Amazon, I would just read some reviews to make sure other people are liking them and there aren’t any safety concerns. There should be links in the description box to some recommendations.

    New viewer and grower of baby cacti lol
    But I’ve grown up in ag and went to college for the same and I think you could manipulate your succulents into flowering. Maybe watering slightly more often and simulate a rainy season. The plant knows it’s seeds have to have a lot of water to grow, so making the plant think it’s raining all the time it may spit out a flower.
    Like I said at the beginning I’m completely new to this but listening to the past two videos this is my “uneducated hypothesis”
