The Official CZcams Channel for the band Van Halen. - Hudba
I once met Eddie and the whole band back in 1986. I had won a radio contest for backstage passes when they had come to my city back then. I still have several pics of this. They were all very nice and Eddie even let me strap on the famous Frankenstrat and showed me how to play a few chords to the song panama. I walked away with a ton of t-shirts, caps, jackets, autographs and great memories that will stick with me forever. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience!
Was DLR still with them when you met them?
@@kimmyhawk5612 No, this was the very first tour with sammy hagar. DLR had not been gone long. They came to my city early in their 5150 tour, it was may of 86. Sammy signed one of his headbands and gave it to me
That's a great story!! Awesome memory
Love it when people get to live the dream! Awesome story!
🤘
They reminded us that rock was supposed to be fun and not to take itself too seriously. A welcomed break from years before and after the 80’s.
That's what I miss about the 70's and 80's music so much --- the music was about partying, hanging with friends, enjoying your YOUTH
You don't know anything about the 70s.
Raw wild and free. That’s the way rock ‘n’ roll was meant to be. No band captured that better than Van Halen. What a time it was for all of us.
It was. I remember it well. The spring of 1978 in high school. Skipping classes going to the park firing up a j, and throwing the frisbee around while listening to VH II from my friend's car speakers. Care free times.
It was loud and raucous but it was positive. It was happy. That's gone
I wish we could go back to this.
AC/DC always captured that as well!
Michael Anthony's backing vocals truly make the Van Halen sound on this track.
I agree! Michael Anthony contributes excellent vocals and I feel like he is underrated, especially when Dave and Eddie are so good at grabbing attention! :(
@Gene Prevento II I tend to focus on band members that are less flamboyant, like bassists. For example, John Deacon contributed to Queen both by performing and his sound engineering designs that helped the bass and the guitar to sound better. Band members like John and Michael deserve way more attention :D
MA's backing vocals are vital to the VH catalog. He was/is priceless.
Just to add, when I listen to original Van Halen turned up *loud* at home or in the car and pretend to be an awesome vocalist, I find I'm mostly doing Michael Anthony, not DLR, except of course the high-pitched screams. Long live Van Halen! RIP Eddie! ♥
Concur. Fabulous voice and absolutely SOLID rhythm in that guy.
RIP Eddie Van Halen. The world has lost a legendary guitarist
RIP Eddie
RIP Eddie 💞
Ain't talk 'bout death, please
I don't play guitar but I have ears enough to know a great one when I hear it. RIP Eddie.
@Le Continental Eddie will pinch your feet tonight in your sleep.
I've heard this song a thousand times, more even, and it's still top notch.
These guys had it all. Talent, looks, charisma, stage presence, stamina. They were amazingly talented and they made it look easy. If concerts were an Olympic event, they would be Gold Medalists. Thank you Van Halen.
Michael Anthony is criminally underrated.
So true!
Yes!
He is criminally underrated as a singer but as a bass player he is average at best ....and I am a huge VH fan
@@JM-qx3mlyou must be a retard then, i'm a bass player and i asure you that he's a fantastic bass player, never only doubling the riffs unlike most Bass players, always playing his own part with really good rhythm and melodic fills, he's easily one of the best bass players in rock/metal, criminally underrated

Saw them in '81 open for the Rolling Stones and they were incredible. The energy they brought to the stage and rock and roll in general was unmatched. Thank you Rock God for granting me the opportunity to have seen them at their best.

I'm 64. Listened to EVH, since they began. Never have I ever before gotten emotional about the loss of real legend, until now. It feels like my heart actually hurts, from the news of Eddie passing on. Rock heaven ain't real, but it frikkin' should be. Eddie would be a God.
It's like u lost a family member lov that man so good
50 here.I understand how you feel. Ed was more than a guitar player,He was family. I myself just got done building my version of the Frankenstrat 3 days before his passing and when I heard the news I cried too. He is sadly missed. RIP EDWARD VAN HALEN
35 here. These guys were rolling hot in '85 when I was born. Shame I didn't know anything about any of the music then. NOW, more than a huge appreciation and gratitude to the rock gods that came before me and made all this awesome music. Never before, and probably now more than ever, do I understand it all. Eddie, a HUGE thank you for all you've provided, but aside from the music you've made, but also taught us a very valuable lesson. I've heard from tons of people the one thing he was: kind. Always gave you the time of day to talk, always smiling, always knew how to treat people. I think we can all learn from this.
We're all dying brother. Go out good
Amen to that. I've never cried over any other Rock artist before, sure I felt sad, but this gutt stabing hurt I've felt since eddys passing is super painful. I watched his sons new song *Distance" And those clips of him and his dad, just had me bawling, I Can only imagine what Wolfgang feels, 💔💔
I remember like yesterday ,going to high school in my 75 Monte Carlo, with this 8 track in turned up loud. The good ole days.
So many great memories. Saw the might VH in 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982.

Some bands have bassists who also do backing vocals. Van Halen has a backing vocalist who also plays bass. You’re the man Michael!
G Williams He is just about the most under appreciated musician there is in that regard and Eddie’s no slouch on backing vox himself.
Michael McDonald Fully agree!
Was sadly.
Key to their sound, absolutely.
To me a big part of their success.
Kids today have no idea how raw and how much fun concerts were back then.
One of the best harmonizing rock bands ever.
I I'd have to say so too--amazing live!
Agreed . I have always said VH had the best backing vocals since the Beatles !!!
If you don't believe , listen to summer nights .

im sorry but Alex is a very underrated drummer , dude has one of the most unique sounds of any drummer out there, the band was amazing!
@Reality Bytes ya just never hear about him like the other greats, neil peart, nikko mcbrain, tommy lee, bonham, his name just dont come up in mainstream conversations , i think he is amazing

Sometimes I forget just how many great songs Van Halen has! This is a very underrated song.
I got busted singing along to it in traffic last Thursday 😂
Eddie has just passed away

When Van Halen ruled the world
Van Halen has always ruled the world regardless of whos the frontman...
just before 2mins it shows eddie tapping while the part of the song is whammy. editing?
When VAN HALEN CONQUERED THE WORLD
Comment Freely Yea, it’s just a live performance with different live audio over it
Yeah, you’re right. Idk who did that editing but they probably just took any shoot of Eddie playing and slapped it in, not considering what he was actually doing.
I had the biggest crush on him. I rocked out to VH for YEARS. I'm 54 now. He had the cutest cheeky grin that could light up a room. I'm so sad. 😪
Hello Cyndi.. how are things going with you?
I grew up listening to them and I'm still listening to them today Cyndi. Same age and this one really affected me. RIP Eddie!😰😢😭
Yes he doe's thats because he's half Dutch half Phillapino good looks stand out better on any half breeds male or female!!!!!😎
Greatest hard rock band in history, they had it all, we are all blessed to have lived during the Van Halen generation.
the members of Van Halen were true "rock stars." It's sad that these times aren't coming back anytime soon. That said, I'm thankfully to have been around during their heyday. The music was first class. 🤘
That's what I miss about the 80's so much --- the guys in Van Halen seemed to relish being rock stars --- not ashamed of it like Kurt Cobain and others who followed
Eddie was just on loan from planet guitar. Safe journey home my friend!

I never got to meet Eddie , but I saw VH in concert 11 different times over the years.
Back in the days of General admission tickets, we would show up early and get front row.
At the end of the Fair warning tour Eddie reached over and handed me a guitar pick. I have it in our safe deposit box along with all my concert ticket stubs.

Eddie Van Halen brought joy back to rock and showed that technical prowess didn’t have to be boring. He’ll be missed.
I love this song. Under the joy and party atmosphere there is an undercurrent of sadness. The song tells us that life really is short. I think of Phil Lynnott, Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix, Bon Scott, Randy Rhoads, John Bonham, Janis Joplin and of course EVH when I hear this song.

EVH is teaching the Angel's how to shred now. Rock n Roll heaven.
Sammy was great in his own right but Dave's showmanship in my opinion really helped put the band on the map.
I honestly don't believe Van Halen ever woulda became a huge band without David Lee's showmanship and vision
Legendary combo for sure. Ironic that they considered the singer of the band Montrose before settling with DLR. That singer? one Sammy Hagar. they made the right choice 🤘😎
I would add, though not as good a singer as Sammy, David's tone and delivery gave the music (combined with EVH's spectacular sound) an edge that Van Hagar could never replicate.
This was probably the only band where the guitarist was even more popular than the lead singer.
Breaks my heart seeing him here, knowing he’s gone 😓, RIP Eddie, loved by me and millions of others !

You can never say enough about Eddie’s ground-breaking guitar work, however...the VH SOUND comes from Michael’s backing vocals and Alex’s drum tones.
