    The screens should be on the outside. That way you don’t have to unzip the screen to unzip the window cover. This is backwards.

    Thank you for your review but I have to tell you some important things to you.
    Caution! not to put too much stuffs inside because size over 5cm or not soft stuffs may interference door frame then generate stress on top middle hinge.
    When you see gap between top & bottom or a lift force after folding will be something wrong inside and that gap will be a path of water penetration.
    Do not forget folding top ventilation support bars before closing tent --> It will dent stargazing TPU window.
    One more advise will be please give some air intake time during initial opening, too fast push up by hand will damage corner brackets; please check user manual ^^
    Just lift up and wait till gas struts push up then slight add force when it needed but basically strut lift top to final position.
    Enjoy camping with Intrepid rooftop camp gear!

    Great review. I received mine on 02/21 and have only used it a few times, but going out next weekend. Thanks for explaining how you bring the side doors in and tuck them into that bag. Also, I didn't know about the vents. My wife agrees on the mattress, so I'll look to get the one you are linking to along with the roof rails. I ended up putting mine on my Turtleback trailer. I agree - these tents are amazing. Happy camping!

    What a tent!!! Being 6'4" it's nice to stretch out and not have your feet touch the tent material or your head brush the front. I wish I would've seen this video before purchasing a ovs 3 rtt.

    HI KYLE 👋
    I LOVE THE DESIGN VERY MUCH ! I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE HAD TWO ZIPPERS SO IF YOU / OR ME WANTED TO HAVE A THE DOOR / WINDOWS OPEN HALF WAY TO LET A LITTLE LIGHT / SUN COME IN OR BREEZE NOBODY CAN TELL IF ANYONE WAS INSIDE OR IF YOU HAPPEN TO HEAR SOMETHING OUTSIDE IN YOUR CAMPSITE YOU COULD QUIETLY CHECK ✔ IT OUT & HANDLE THE SITUATION IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN ! MAY I ASK WHAT STOPS THE RAIN 🌧 / MELTING SNOW ❄ FROM COMING INSIDE THERE ? I'LL HAVE TO CHECK ✔ OUT FOR THE NEW SLEEPING PAD YOU BOUGHT LOOKS PRETTY NICE 👌 CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW IT DOES IN THE WINDY WEATHER & DRIVING RAIN ! WILL ALSO HAVE TO CHECK ✔ OUT THE MOON 🌙 SHADE BEEN HEARING A LOT ABOUT IT LATELY . JUST SLOWLY WATCHING 👀 & SEEING WHAT PEOPLES THOUGHTS ARE ABOUT CERTAIN PRODUCTS & HOPING THEY ARE HONEST ABOUT 🙏 THEM . BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR ADVENTURES 🙏 THANK YOU 🙏

    Thanks for this review. I'm totally interested in this tent and the wife can't wait until we upgrade our simple, but cramped, traditional clamshell.
    I hesitate to pull the trigger on this one since more complications usually means more potential points of failure. How does the unique middle hinge do in the rain? Looks like it may be a leak entry point.

    Great review, Brother!
    Two quick questions
    1) I have a 2023 JLRU and have not bought my roof rack, yet. You said that you are using the Desert Armor Cross Bars. How many crossbars does the Geo 2.5 require?
    2) What roof rack do you have over your cab? It looks different than the cross bar set-up.

    • @wookieethewanderer
      @wookieethewanderer  Před rokem

      Hey Timothy!
      There’s a couple of things going on here.
      The Desert Armor cross bars are only for attaching things to the TOP of the RTT. I attempted putting a 7 gallon Road Show on the top, and it sorta worked, but I felt it was a little too much weight on the tent when opening and closing. I will use those bars for attaching my max trax and/or solar panels to the top of the tent later…something a little lighter. These are attached to the top portion of the tent via the upper track on the side of the tent. I did remove and reattach some of the mounted hardware to make room for the mounting brackets.
      As for mounting the RTT to my vehicle, the tent is 100% supported and attached to my RSI SmartCap’s crossbars (purchased separate, but also made by RSI). The two tracks the are mounted on the base of the tent are pretty standard/universal and can work on pretty much any roof rack or crossbars that are capable of supporting the dynamic weight of the tent.
      The rack over my cab is a PrinSu rack. The tent is not attached to this in any way, it just kind floats over it.
      I hope this helps!

    I just received mine from the 2nd wave of Black Friday shipments. Was supposed to be here in March but just arrived this past week June 26th so that was a little disappointing. Did you order the cargo net and organizer separatly or was part of the black Friday deal that it came with those? Been so long that I can't remember. I know you can buy them separately on their site but so far it seems everyone has them with theirs so wanted to check. So far I am pretty impressed with the tent except for the mattress as you mentioned as well. Just wish it would have been here before 1/3 of my season was over already. Mine also does not have the side vents just the roof. Must have been a revision...

    • @wookieethewanderer
      @wookieethewanderer  Před rokem

      The delayed shipping was a pain point for me too on the 1st batch. I actually had to purchase another RTT (a used CVT) to use in the meantime while I waited because I sold mine expecting the Geo to arrive when they said it would. Once the intrepid came and I tried it out, I sold the other one too.
      Intrepid didn’t have the option to purchase the organizer or cargo net when I purchased, but they made it clear that it was going to be a bonus for the first batch and will be a separate add on in the future.
      Interesting on the side vents…I haven’t seen a second round batch yet. I plan to go to Overland Expo East, and will check out the current model.

    Good stuff. What rear swing out are you using and do you like it?

    • @wookieethewanderer
      @wookieethewanderer  Před rokem

      The swing out on the Colorado is a DirtCom. It’s probably the best hitch mount swing it I’ve seen, but I’d prefer investing in a high clearance swing out bumper like I just did on my 3rd Gen 4Runner (videos on that coming out soon!)

    Your review is really great. I was also one of the first to receive a Geo 2.5 and I'm wondering if you are having the same quality issues I am. Specifically, have you suffered leakage and is your tent hardware rusting? Like you, I loved the design and thought that went into it. Like others in this thread, I experienced a long delay between ordering it in the Black Friday sale in November 22 and actually receiving it in April 23. Upon installation I discovered that there was a large gap at either end of the hinge connecting the two roof panels. I reached out to Intrepid and they confirmed that my tent shipped from the factory missing two weatherproofing strips on either end of the gasket over the hinge. So my tent is not waterproof when "closed." Water drips in between the two roof panels and pools in the bottom of the tent. Judging by what I can see in your video it looks like your tent is missing those weatherstrips, too. They've been responsive but totally ineffective at actually fixing the issue. Curious to hear your experience.

    • @wookieethewanderer
      @wookieethewanderer  Před rokem

      Hey Andrew! I did experience some leakage when closed, but originally thought it was me overloading the tent with bedding and mattress (it wasn’t flush when closed). I did receive the inserts after making this video, and have installed them. They seem to be working well. I haven’t noticed anything rusting, but will keep an eye out. Thanks for the info and feedback on my review!

  • @travistowns6131

    @theoberland… have you had the tent in high wind yet ? Interesting to see how noisy it is with the fabric

    • @wookieethewanderer
      @wookieethewanderer  Před rokem +2

      Hey Travis! I have had it in some pretty high winds (sustained winds in the 25-30 mph and gusts of up to 50 mph). The fabric is pretty taut when deployed and doesn’t have much room to move, definitely better than others I’ve used. My CVT tent always blew like crazy and I haven’t had the problem with this one.
      I also try to put the hard portion of the tent toward the wind if possible (however it was 91 in Maine this past week when I was visiting and I wanted the wind to blow through the tent so I positioned it sideways and it worked great!).
      As for noise and ability to withstand winds, I feel this is a solid choice.

      I ordered mine in either October or November, and it arrived in February (first batch).
      I believe the second batch is projected to come out in May.
      There were delays in the manufacturing and shipping, obviously working out the kinks in the system from a new product and new company…but hang tight, the tent is worth the wait!

  • @metal_horses568

    Can you clarify how you tuck away the side door when you just want the screen in, while keeping the bugs out please? I see they have this 12 inch zipper which I think you say is to pull in the door and stuff it in that inside pocket. But when you do that, it leaves a pretty good opening where bugs can get in. Am I doing this right? It's to the point that I just roll it up outside and stuff it behind the strut. Thanks.

    • @wookieethewanderer
      @wookieethewanderer  Před rokem

      It does leave a small gap between the door and screen. Maybe something like a Velcro closure on the outside of door that can seal where the zipper is would seal it better on Intrepid’s future improvements. I did receive an email from the company thanking me for my honest review, so I know they’re reading comments and hearing our feedback.
