  • Quitting a relationship is a tough thing. It’s best to do everything we can to make a situation better, but when is it time to stop and just move on. It’s a hard question, and it’s one Paul faced in Acts 18 on his trip to Corinth.

Excellent discussion from around 9:10 on forgiveness and the inability for reconciliation. I had a nine-year struggle with this in my life -- moving to a different church. I tried to reconcile, to persevere, but due to my struggles of conscience I simply could not. So I finally moved on and made peace. I forgave myself and the former institution and found a new place to grow as a disciple. Life is full of these moments. Thank you for recognizing and relating that here, Matt.

I am so happy that I watched this. I’m fighting myself up over a relationship and really need to watch this over and over until it sinks in.

Thanks dude, I needed that a lot! I just broke up with the woman I thought I would marry, I even had a ring I was going to give her... I had a hard time letting go. This was good. :)

+Clayton Campbell sorry to hear about the breakup Clayton. Even if it was the right thing to do, it's still tough when you're that connected to somebody else. Wish you the best moving on to what's next amigo.

Hey! Now I'm caught up with you (in Acts at least)! Great video, loving the little musical bits between different points. Reminds me of "This old House".

Thanks for this Matt and thank the Lord for His examples in the Word. My job is currently on the line and I'm stressed to the max, but this has reminded me to have peace in understanding that God will always take care of me. God bless.

Just "moves on" from a good ministry job but a negative staff situation back in April. It was a very difficult decision that took months of discernment through prayer. So I believe that sometimes it's good to 'Move on" from doing good stuff as well as the bad. Great video!

+PrayerLights what year did scribing is one of the most difficult things to sort through as a Christian. You want to do something Redemptive, and you know you bring your own set of laws to a situation, but sometimes the thing is just broken, and then moving on in a way that sets things up for good in the future is tough.
I hope it's played out in such a way for you then you're able to look back and feel good about the way you navigated a difficult thing.

Yes, most definitly a good thing for myself and for the church I left and for the church I currently serve. :)

When you come from a family, such as mine...There are SO many times to "let it go" and move on. There are times when they (my two older sisters-who have NEVER gotten along) say they let it go, only to blow up at nothing or something I said or my other sister said...ANYWAY.. if you need a real experience, I'll bring you home with me next trip to Lander. But, yeah, I left my "Church-Based Christian" Preschool because they weren't teaching about Jesus!!! Thanks Matt

we see this happen with Mark and Paul..i believe..where it was better they didn't work together. that they part ways. sometimes we do have to "dust off our feet" (taken a bit out of context) of a situation. move on. however, it can be difficult and it works easier if both parties involved are not bitter and can agree that it is best that they work better a part. this can be applied.. i think, in a church setting, as well as marriage setting. though a marriage setting can be touchy. we know how the lord feels about divorce. but sometimes, like you said, it is better to move on for the benefits of those around us.
i was laughing so much at the first part of this video..than you kind of hit it home with a serious note. one that is needed to be talked about. especially for those who may be going through this situation whether in a ministry or relationship. thanks for making it real! a lot to think about here.

You would have gotten extra imaginary internet points if you would have smoked a metaphorical cigarette in the light hearted outro.

Great video once again, Matt. Would love your thoughts on this topic in the context of marriage, in specific an unequally yoked marriage.
Btw, have you ever shared your testimony, assuming you have one to share?

+CriticalThinker02 thanks for the note. I did do a video that covered my testimony Last Summer called not Blinded By the Light and you're wrapped up like a deuce. If you scroll back to August of 2015 you'll find it. Sorry I was too lazy to go look up the link well I'm on the move here.

Yeah faced this lately interacting with Jehovah's Witnesses who arrogantly deny deity of our Lord Jesus Christ - had to just state the truth respectfully then quit. Re transition of Church from Jewishness, there's been a big push from Chicago to divide the early Church into Jewish and Gentile, claiming real Church in grace era only began with Paul and make the Lord's Supper and Baptism just Jewish rituals. Heresy if you ask me.

Thank you. I missed the Excitebike in the corner there. I knew it was one that I never owned and insisted on playing anytime I was at a friend's house who had it.
