Thanks for taking the time to do this video. The sound you mentioned hearing intermittently may be caused by a bad evap purge valve, under the hood. I just replaced that assembly yesterday on mine. Might cause a P1450 code on occasion. Makes an occasional humming, buzzing sound when driving caused by the fuel flapper vibrating from too much tank vacuum. There have been several revisions of these, and appear to be a common problem. You helped others with your video, so I hope this helps you!

I had the same humming sound as him and it would go away if I ran the wipers.

Came here because the motors are bad on her car. She too has had nothing but problems since she bought it. Her husband is a devoted Ford guy but he still buys Fords after all these problem and the problems with the Focus he had. Thanks for taking the time to document the process.

I have a 2013 Ford Escape as well. And same, issues all over: replaced the coolant tank 3 times, one of the tire pressure sensors has never worked, the doors squeek like crazy now, as you said changing the battery is real pita. Unfortunately, I live in SA, so it is hard to get parts at reasonable prices. Thanks for the video.

We just had that winter storm, and my wipers have now gone haywire--one stopped working all together, and the other just moves to one position and stays there. Thanks for this video. I dunno--I have 103K on mine--and I guess it's starting to finally fall apart.

These have separate windshield wiper motors and the connection where the wiper bolts on may have gotten stripped especially if they were frozen from the ice. More commonly though they get out of sync. You can try removing the wiper blades then turning the wipers on and let them cycle and then turn them off and reinstalled the blades in the proper down position. This may work to get them resynchronized. If it doesn't then you have to do it from underneath the cowl. There are a few videos out there on the internet to show you this procedure. If however there is a stripped-out factor on the motor or Motors and you will ever need to replace the windshield wiper motors.

I’ve replaced both my windshield wiper motors twice in the last 6 months... it’s not cheap. I live in Colorado, I’ve used my wipers like 4 times since I’ve replaced them last. Now the left arm won’t move more than 4 inches... btw the weird humming noises is the water pump...

So it was the wiper motors ? I inspected mine and didn't see anything stripped . At $200.00 a motor , I been rain x the windshield for the last 8 months. Guess I ll go ahead and replace the motors. I was wondering though being 2 seperate motors how can they both go out at the same time🤔....Ford company is done. Dealerships have sealed the deal

I’m from Winnipeg Canada my mom just came by my place with the same complaint not sure if this is a factory defect or I’m thinking possibly during the winter months if you leave the wipers down and they freeze to the windshield you turn the wiper switch on you can strip the teeth on the motor possibly ruining the motors as well

  • @mikesoares5869

One thing I noticed weird with the wipers when I was replacing the battery in my 2013 was that I can move either wiper up and down without affecting the other. I guess because they run on separate motors, but then I wonder how the wiper position is controlled. Does it have some kind of way to keep track of where it is? For what it's worth mine has 70K miles and battery was original. Wipers still work, just thought being able to move it freely when car wasn't running seem strange.

  • @tarmak1

If you pull the air box out you can pull the battery right out without touching your wipers or cowl.

I had my 2017 ford escape wipers shutter and cross over right in front of my driver view. When I had heavy rain it was okay. But when it was a light drizzle it was bad. Everything was fine until I got the dealership to change my wipers on my care plan. Then it happened a lot. I took it back in 3 times and it kept getting worse. Then they changed the motors. Tonight it was a heavy rain and it was happening again, but always getting stuck in my view... Something is seriously wrong. Also, I too get a weird humming hiss sound when I turn off the car, not sure of that is related... So fed up!

Does anyone have any idea where the if there is a relay for the front wipers? Both of my motors stopped. I've seen a diagram with a 50amp fuse...but my 2014 escape has a 40a fuse. Not something we've changed since buying the car 5 years ago. Thanks for your time and kind assistance.

My wipers stopped working, Had to rebuild the front end, new struts, calipers were also replaced after only having the truck for 6 months.
Oh and did some research on the truck and found out that the truck had been in a front end collision. The entire front end of the truck was replaced with aftermarket parts, including the hood.

2013 escape. Wipers do not work. I replaced battery. Tried everything in my knowledge to fix. Please help. I can’t afford a shop. Every once and awhile I’ll get a slight movement no more than an inch on one wiper. I’ve taken off and re installed so many times you wouldn’t believe it. I’m dedicated and i can’t figure it out. Thank you.

ADD is multitasking thing is, I took apart both motors and that’s when I started getting my inch response back. Plus they are expensive so I want to be 100% that’s my issue. Any clue how to test? I’ve checked the wiring from the car. It has 3 terminals and used a voltmeter, got power. Also checked the motor but there’s 4 terminals and I also got power response. Fuses are good. At least the 2 that you look up. I saw a video on a focus, and they have a fuse box under there fuse box so I checked and never put it back on right😂thanks

Having the same problem but it didn't start humming until after I took them off to change the battery. I know there are alignment marks so I am going to try and re align them. I had to replace the center console lid and the cigarette lighter cover broke and the cover for the interior door handle driver side snapped off. And the interior handle for the trunk comes off easily. This car sucks to be honest...

@@addismultitasking3504 we still have a warranty on it till October 2021. So far they replaced rear main seal, oil sending unit and water pump. Thankfully not a cost to us. However I don't like the way it shifts. Kind of jerks going into 2nd or 3rd gear every know and then. Only 95k miles.

Right even The blower for the heater and AC went I have a 2016 and why do they have 2 motors. And you would think because it's an American made car the part's would be cheaper Nooooooo the wipers cost 25$-40$ apiece. I can understand why people buy foreign car's. The part's may be expensive but if you God forbid get in a accident and the car is an total loss you'll get enough money to nearly replace the car but if you get an American made car you'll get something like $1300 or less or an little bit more which is so backwards really.

No details shown & he didn’t check the battery’s negative post for commom corrosion on the BMS which effects a lot of the electronics... blah blah. He needs to do more research and complete the video with a completed fix. Other than that, this video is a waste.

  • @JordanNegrete
    @JordanNegrete Před 5 lety +3

The reason why this keeps having problems is because it’s a ford, and Americans don’t know how to make good reliable cars. I have this same exact car with only 9000 miles on it, maybe I should prepare for the worse or just sell it. I’ve already had to replace the battery in it at 8900 miles🙄, my infotainment center freezes up a lot, the throttle response is very delayed, and it overheated twice. My message to ford is what else do I have to expect from your piece of shit cars? I’ll have to find that out for myself I guess.
