Cracks me up when people talk about mostly older guys buying Corvettes......then you consider Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini.....also driven by mostly old guys.....because that’s when they can finally afford them after spending their lives supporting wives and children before doing anything for themselves. It’s like the Jim Gaffigan joke....”Cops like donuts” which is a weird stereotype because you know who else likes donuts? Absolutely everyone.
Absolutely right on. I currently own a C6Z06 vette with 2 kids in private school. Their tuition is like paying for another home mortgage. Plan is, after the kids get out of college then I can buy another home....nah! Just a new corvette ;)
David I get it, I have 3 in private school. Giving people a hard time for buying a cool car after they’ve taken care of their family is basically the same as giving them a hard time for taking care of their family.
@@Jedi391 why private school? Are the public schools in your area not good?
Growing up, I attended public school. Most of my classmates parents had regular cars, but a few had sports cars. They always looked so cool when they picked their kids up in them.
I live in Germany and am an old guy meanwhile puu time runs fast :). When i was six, I saw for the first time a Corvette and sad to myself: one day I `ll buy a Corvette. 50 Years later we bought our first one, a black C6 competition. To learn everything about driving the Vette really fast , I took part in a driver training. Another guy my age had a C6 too, under his license plate was written: "Life begins, the dog is dead and the kids are out off home" - thats it - the same here :)
I’ve owned a corvette, I’m 28 and I’ll have a c7 grand sport in a few years
Corvette C7 Grand Sport is what I am after. Retired USAF and I currently own a C5. Thanks for the post!!
Grn Lantern what about c8
Agreed. A lot of reviews of the C7GS have a common theme: the right amount of power, the right handling characteristics. It certainly is the sweet spot.
Only 460hp!
Pizza PowerXYZ c7z06 has been said to be an overpowered platform. The power just isn’t as usable
@@twinflag821 and an underpowerd platform isn't good either
Pizza PowerXYZ it is when it’s more usable. It’s about balance.
@@twinflag821 you must now meditate to find a balance in the photosynthesis
I watch every single speed academy, savagegeese, and straight pipes video that is released.
Bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it’s a great car! Huge, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to cruising smooth in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Corvette Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX. Buy one, if at all possible, life is short.
buy this in manual to have the last manual and best C7
at least the GS doesnt overheat like the Z06
ForTehNguyen
Yes, I just realized that you are right. The C8 is only offered in DCT. So much for traditional driver engagement.
And it looks way better than the C8
"Hey, what year is that?"
"2019 - last year for both front engine and manual transmission."
"Nice."
- Cars & Coffee, 2045
Do we know which g lock pads they were?
Come on, don't put down other corvettes, especially when you like them
New balances and yelling at my wife in the arbys parking lot had my loll’ing. Forgot the tucked in polo into the jorts with a belt.
That's a really nice C7. I love how it's just a tad oversteery out of turns, and how easy it seems to correct. Perhaps the zenith of the traditional "FR" Corvette formula, this was.
Yup, but with some stickies it would eat the track. I mean, he did great time with bad tires, what more to say
I love the 2nd look in the rear-view mirror after passing the blue M2. Total Dad moment - been there.
Comfort in Discomfort *side view mirror. What do u mean '2nd-look=dad moment'?
@@slamdunkslamdunk9888 well, as a dad - and self professed driver, I find myself criticizing other drivers on the road. And often, once they are in the rear view (side view) mirror I give a second glance, smugly thinking "fool, learn to drive".
Comfort in Discomfort got it👍thx
Thanks for bringing Jack on! Jack's the corvette hotboi that has really added a lot over at Savagegeese, and it's good to see you review his beloved Vette, even if it needs some new tires.
You tapped one of the paddles! That's what turned rev match on. Both of them are like on/off switches
DP is hilarious! How he giggles when the car gets squirrelly. As always, great content!
I know you guys love your imports but you guys have to add a corvette to the collection! Any generation, I'd be happy. Would be awesome if you did that same event you built the BRZ for with a corvette.
The C7 will always be my favourite generation of Corvettes, even though I'm more of a Japanese car person. The C8's exterior design just doesn't work for me and there's no manual transmission option.
Only true sportsman drives manuals...
I have always been a import guy and love my turbo 4bangers... I still have my bugeye WRX with a JDM STI swap and my 99 GST Eclipse. But the first thing I am doing when I get back to America next month is buying a C7 Corvette, arctic white with adrenaline red interior and a manual transmission, I cant wait!!!
Hmmmm, C6 Z06 vs C7 GS......really dig you guys. Subbed.
"Unleash the FREEDOOOM!" 🤣🤣🤣
C7 GS in its natural habitat hunting BMW's!
#stingray

Agreed
Freaking love you guys man. I used to watch you guys all the time when I owned my wrx and now with doing research in the c7. Again freaking love you guys.
I love my GS. Had a blast at Ron Fellows racing school as well!
Call me strange but now that we have the C8 I appreciate the C7 Grand Sport in a manual even more. Great collaboration and great driving!
Just proved m2 is a waist of MONEY......i want a GS!!!
On worm tires and it's over a second faster than the 2020 Supra. That's crazy.
Lets not forget that the corvette has 131hp more tho
@@vegardulven9515 Correct, I'm just amazed at how good it is with really worn tires.
@@vegardulven9515 That horse power difference isn't necessarily true. Every dyno result I've been able to find on the supra shows that they are underrating their engines and that actually make more to the wheels than the factory numbers claim. They make around 360-380 HP to the wheels and about 400 ft lbs of torque. I think the difference in performance isn't the power but the fact that the corvette is known to have a great chassis stock and the supra has been reviewed as being very tail happy. This course rewards cornering speed and the corvette does that well.
From someone who’s trying hard to make a Supra fast... it’s very very very hard to beat a Corvette GS.
@@JackieDing86 Good luck with your build!
I purchased my 2019 2LT Manual Grand Sport in August after owning four straight Mustangs, the last two being GT350s with nothing but issues. I love the GS and have a set of G-Loc pads, Finspeed wheels, and Nitto NT01 tires waiting for this spring.
Update: The C7GS ran five different tracks in 2019 setting a new personal best at each facility. Amazing car!!!!!!
“I think I should be in second through here. I will try that next lap” then stays in 3rd again 😂
Love this car and perfect spec. Can some nice driving there Dave. Loving it
Funny the LT1 how it’s made tour of the factory is how I found your channel
Good video and cool guy. I want a manual C7 so bad. America showing how it's done!
I have lots of track days on my C7GS. The best setting for track for me is SPORT with T/C off. I run on 18x11 and 18x12.5 Forgeline which gives me more tire choices along with Powerstop Track Day pads. They are inexpensive with no fade or squeal. We'll see how it does against the new C8 this year. My guess would be not to good but I'm fine with that.
Beautiful color!
The C7 GS is a cam swap away from being the best front engine Corvette ever. And easily the best C7.
Michael Allen yes, besides the almighty ZR1 of course.
This and the C6 Z06 thrashed that lap time board but you're still gonna see negative Corvette comments on here.
love this vid..thumbs up..ive had my 18 grand sport 4 aprox. 4 months..it has an autom.trans..it just sings in a standing quarter mile;but causualy driving around town..it is so mushy with its power..would the manuel trans be an improvement??
The z06 doesn’t overpower the chassis lol. It’s such a buttoned down beast of a car. So many people trying to justify the grand sport so hard lol
2019 GS, white, 7 speed with tan interior on chromes. That’s my dream car. I would do a tour across America with a smile on my face 😎...
That’s definitely a boomer car if I’ve ever heard of one
Wheels are chrome. Why chrome? They're polished alluminum man
I hope there will be many manual C7s in the future used market
One important feature of the GS that was not mentioned (that is borrowed from the Z06) is the stock brakes...they an are excellent package OEM...slotted 2-piece rotors, 14.6" 6-piston in front, 14.4" 4-piston in rear. This owner changed out to dedicated track pads, but the system comes pretty great from Chevy. Of course, for a lot more $$, you can opt for the carbon ceramic package, but why would you?
Is there any way to modify the factory ABS if you upgrade to racing pads?
The manual z06 is a widowmaker in the end it will b more collectible simply bcuz of that fact
Excellent! The Best Corvette's ever! C7 absolutely the most car I have ever driven 2016 Z06/Z07 package 3LZ, 2019 Grand Sport 1LT, 2019 Z06 1LZ. Fast is the word. You would need a Million Dollar Vehicle to match it. I hope?
@2:02-2:20
That's quite all right. Probably 9 out of 10 of us don't know half of words, either.
Also a z51 stingray comes with the drysump and narrower tires w less grip meaning u can actually dance w the chassis and its 7k cheaper than a grandsport..that's the thinkingmans c7
This is my favorite corvette
What do you mean by "the sharpness" of the lt engine? And more specifically the comparison to the coyote?
Honestly I still give a eye to own any C7 Vette. Beautiful, can’t wait for these to go down in price once C8 is available.
I purchased my 2019 GS for over $10K under MSRP in August. If you are looking for new you need to act soon as stock is becoming limited.
A Z07 GrandSport with fresh Cup 2 tires would be in the 1min16s easy :)
BTW throttle house did 1min17.5 with a GrandSport FE6 with PSS. So clearly in the 16s with a Z07 and CUP2
What compound G-Loc pad did you go with?
How do you compare C7 GS and C6 Z06 on the track? Please advise. I am cross shopping and can not test them on the track before buying . Thanks
I imagine this with single turbo setup, safe boost level and tune would easily reach 650? Maybe even 700? Would love to see that compared on track vs the Z06!
i wish you guys would rip one of the new mustangs around the track..
I have a 2017 1LT automatic. I absolutely love the paddle shifting. I don't know why some are so fixated with manual as better? My car sounds so different when shifting than the manual too.
I bought mine used with 9,000 miles for $50k
I've never loved a car so much. What a joy to drive.
Because with the manual you can add lots of power AND abuse it. Automatic you have to pick your poison lol and manual is just always more fun than auto.
@@GoatedOne201 F1 cars use paddle shift.
@@Mudnuri the Semi-automatic sequential transmission is a little different. Manual mode paddle shifters don't even shift on time 😂 gotta press the paddle a little early.
Not to mention the car is gonna shift itself at a certain point whether you hit it manually or not to avoid damage.
@@GoatedOne201 I thought something was different. I've about killed myself due to the delay in throttle response too.
@@Mudnuri what made you get grandsport over Z06 ? I want a C7 but so stuck on which to get. Grandsport looks amazing, Z06 also has that overheating issue and I plan on tracking.
Jim Mero said once he was persuaded by the other Corvette engineers to try rev match, he never looks back. Jim Mero!!
I like how it shows what gear you are in on 5he dash. Did you have the speedometer in kph or mph?
id say mph
long gearing
I really hope you guys can hoon a ZL1 1LE (Manual) over on track....
I'd actually like the C7 Corvette it's the final Front engine ever I draw it but make it Vintage style of the C3 Corvette with front and Rear bumpers and make it look like the 68 - 73 bumpers 74 - 79 bumpers and 1980 - 82 bumpers because it's my favorite one
I just bought a 2016 ATSV sedan. I wanted this one but kids n dogs. Screw it! Buying a C7GS or C8
Sometimes, you just gotta say, "screw it" and go for it. Enjoy!
What's a good tire for them?
Which G-Loc compound is on this Grand Sport?
Ahh good load fashioned GM ice mode. Talking to some GM engineers they helped fixed that on the 2019+ camaro Cause it was sooo bad and invasive. I’ll get my 1le up there for you to try 😉
To those who have driven a C7 GS and C6 Z06, what are key takeaways? I own a c6 z06 and considering a c7 gs.
Let's keep these a bargain secret pleeeease! for science, or until I get mine. 😁
I still don’t understand “over-powering the chassis”.
With something like a twin-screw supercharger, seems like the throttle response would be crisp, and idk. I guess I understand having to be gingerly with the throttle. But at the same time, having a lot of power is first world problem. I don’t have a 650 hp car, only an s2000, but I don’t think it’s a problem you’ll find me complaining about lol. I’ll be grateful
make some vidoes with matt wade from trackslayers i wanna see a collab
What's the GLOC pad combination used in this vette? R12 front r10 rear?
Im checking the comments for this also.
I personally run R12 front Hawk HPS+ in the rear. FWD hatchback🤷🏽♂️
Im pretty sure its squared 12s.
Lmfao that m2 was just cruising 🤣
Oh say have seen, the size of that wing........and so on.
I am curious to know, why Jack went with the c7 GS from his s550 Mustang. Why not the Camaro ZL1 or Shelby GT350?
As someone that daily drives his mustang and tracks it as well, much like how Jack did it, I am pretty fascinated in his choice to buy the C7 GS; amazing car for sure.
Better Chassis, lighter in weight, better weight distribution. It's a better track car than all of the above.
Clout
Great video as always guys!!!!! Let's collab on a project! It's Norb, btw :)
Thanks Norb! Hope you’re well.
nice car! would love to own one. Cannot decide between the new 350 mustang or this. Any ideas?
Can't go wrong with either. The only difference being the GT350 is fun at 25mph. The C7 GS isn't lol.
Buy the Vette everybody’s got a Mustang.
If you want reliability buy the vette.
What's going on with the feet in the air on Mark's Atom @0:44?
Clutch, stainless steel line blew.
That air conditioning though. 😂😂
Nice!! Huh, top of the list just like that... :-)
Didn't expect it to beat the Ariel Atom time..
How many warm up laps do you usually take before you do your hotlap? question if you ever do a Q&A
Typically it’s 1 warm up lap, 3 hot laps, and that’s it.
Would you go for PS4S or Cup 2’s on this if you were to use it mostly on street but 3 times a year on track days? I have a C6 Z06 with 600whp. Thanks for feedback.
Prot0n PS4S. Personally I run RE71Rs on my car street and track (8 days a year), but would not suggest those to you as they don’t last more than 6k. Cup2 guys on the track like the tires but they will have a short life around 6k, and driving in the rain you won’t be so happy especially because you have such wide tires that would be more prone to aqua planing. PS4S has plenty of grip 9/10 of a Cup 2 (good for a couple seconds on a track with a great driver), but the daily usability is severely compromised. Mostly street = street tires
I second that had PS4S’s got pretty good mileage out of them never tracked them but they were plenty grippy and still fine in the rain I have the pilot super sports right now and they don’t grip nearly as well
lukasz wicher thanks for the input. I just bought spherical bearings from AMT. I think 4s will remove some of the harshness that I will get, but will they grip from 2 gear pulls? Right now on my old hockey puck tires I spin in 3rd on warm asphalt.
Prot0n tough time say, but the Cup2s will need some heat in them before they start to grip as well on the street. I think on the track after a couple warm up laps, the tires shouldn’t give you much issue.
*either of the tires
Money CAN buy happiness.... no wonder i'm so depressed! I do my best with my 20yo grand marquis I drive 300+ miles a day for a dental lab 4 days a week but my bad back keeps my dreams of having the joy of a fast car on a track way out of reach.... and well lets just say driving skills don't mean anything unless you have LOTS of money! (being disabled I don't make much and can't even afford to see a doctor so once my car dies, so does my driving and working)
What phenomenal cars. I love my c6z, but a GS c7 does sound tempting lol
Seems like the natural upgrade lol. Have any problems with the c6?
That C6 Z06 is a beast my friend
Thinking the same thing! Less headaches than our cars with more creature comforts. Tired of being afraid of my engine grenading due to heads
Austin Dussold if you can drop 30k on a car you can drop 1k to fix it
@@Danny7930 Never said I wasn't going to fix, but I want it done right. My point was I could drop $50k on a new 2019 Grand Sport and not worry about heads or other problems. Warranty and no known issues like the C6 Z06 because manufacturing processes get better over time.
However, I do love my car. If I keep it, it will not go to some normal shop to get the heads fixed for $2-3k. It will actually go to Katech or AHP and get a warranty when they install it. That costs around $4k or more. No need to assume on these types of post...
Couldn't catch me at 10:52 DP??
Obviously JK. I saw that big slide in my mirror when I was checking to see if you were going to pass.
what are the paddles for if its manual.
N8 Smith it’s for the rev matching mode for manuals.
Which G-Loc pads does he have one the car?
Matt Greenland r12- r10
Surprised it's that fast on those tires, funny that you compare the LT and the coyote motors, I'd like to see a lap in a mustang gt350 to see how it compares, put it against a camaro with this motor in it with the good suspension
Technically, the GT350 5.2 is named the Voodoo engine, not the Coyote.
XOZ Industries stock gt350 is 3-4 secs slower than the stock grandsport at this track
Didn't the C6 GS have a dry sump?
TurboDieselDan I know mine does; not sure if all of em do
I think all of not most C6 GS's did besides the convertibles from what I can remember
Yeah but I feel like it was only the manuals. Don't quote me though
I wish I would have bought a C7 GS instead of my old Air-cooled 911. :(
There's nothing wrong with the C8 mid engine Corvette but they didn't have the options and High performance parts aren't available yet
That corvette is fast for being on bald tires!! What size motor is the lt1?
It's a 6.2 liter pushrod V8, or 378 cu. in.
@@tomtom72 good to know thanks!
@@pFbSpecV Oh, I forgot to say that it is a gas direct injected fuel system not port injection like the old LSx series motors. Oh, and Your're welcome!
Why is the dash flashing?
It's usually the recording parameters of the camera that make it look like that. The displays do not flash when you look at them with the naked eye.
How much can you get one for now?
Used 45k-65k depending on miles and grandsport package. You'll even see them for 75k used
WOW you did 6 sec better then the Subaru Wow!
C7 Grand Sport with 7 speed manual ..wow
Now just need to get Z06 wheels
the wheels are the same
Prob should just buy a Z06
@@craigscott5661 I've yet to meet anyone who makes this comment that regularly tracks their car.
Chuck Davis not sure what ur talking about but in my book you can never have too much HP.
@@craigscott5661 spoken exactly like someone who doesn't track their car
Yelling at my wife in the arbys parking lot lol
.....because you know whatever she did, she deserved it!
😂 good line. Disappointed on the lack of any reference to jean shorts and camping chairs though.
she should be back at home making sandwiches so Arby's wouldn't be required.
I own a C7 Z06 manual and I’m not sure why you would want to buy a Grand Sport and not have the extra HP in a ZO6. Somebody that says a car is overpowered doesn’t know how to drive.
Craig Scott I mean Dave is a former pro driver(touring car), randy post a pro driver( touring car driver) all say the same on balance the z06 has too much power for its chassis for track work. The other issue presented for road course work is the cooling problems. You run into both water temp and oil temp issues on certain tracks due to the heat. I understand in 2017+ they added a cooler for manual z06s but in my experience it hasn’t helped that much.
U Tube Surfer yea you forgot the other thing the Z06 is good for. Blowing the doors off the Grand Sport in a drag race.
Comes down to driver. I enjoy more the Z then the GS. It’s not like your foot is always on the floor. Like a idiot. I understand the whole balance theory. But when understanding your cars limits. You improve quickly.
Why have it paddles when its manual?
They all have them, on the manual it triggers active rev match
I hate it when people give you their cars with worn out tyres. It just reduces the laptime and is pretty disrespectful.
Yeah, someone handing you the keys to their car to take on race track , if you wreck it, not insured and they are disrespectful? Sounds like you are ungrateful user.
why does it have paddles when its a manual ?
Rev match
It doesn't matter anymore with the C8 now available.
needs tires and an alignment, mine rolled off the truck with an alignment done by a toddler.
Dave isn't in any position to be talking about other peoples faces for radio lol
If not ill challange you anywhere anytime in grand sport.lol
So I know absolutely nothing about Corvette's. So this may be a dumb question. What's the paddles for if you have a manual transmission? Are they cluster controls??
Both turn on or off auto rev matching.
The paddles engage rev match for the manual based cars.
I know it's a little thing, but this is honestly one of the things I find most annoying about the camaro and corvette. It's a cost saving measure so they only have to produce one wheel, and I get it, but the #1 rule of cost saving should be not right in front of the drivers face. Auto rev match only needs one button and it doesn't need to be at the drivers fingertips as if they are going go be engaging it and disengaging it over and over. So dumb. Ok, end of rant.
@@R3LF13 That is ridiculous, I agree. At least for the C7, Corvette received its own proprietary steering wheel - looking at you C6/Cobalt owners..
Doesn't Canada have a war of 1812 song where they reigned supreme over us 'Mericans? You should sing that song Dave.
