- Max Verstappen entered the 2024 Australian Grand Prix race weekend with the intent of winning his 10th race in a row, but it would once again be Carlos Sainz of Ferrari to end his win streak, taking an incredible win just two weeks after undergoing surgery. Max had a stuck right rear brake, which overheated to the point of explosion, causing him to retire from the race. Charles Leclerc completed a Ferrari 1-2, and Lando Norris taking 3rd place means he now holds the title for the most podiums in F1 history without a win. George Russell once again crashed out of a race on the final lap, marking a double Mercedes DNF with Hamilton's engine failure, and also meaning Haas scored their first double points finish of the season.

Kinda funny how people went absolutely ballistic for Max dnf'ing, and it still ended up being a completely mid race. Aside from Sainz and Tsunoda having good drives literally nothing of interest happened.

Agreed. Some battles were sprinkled here and there, but ultimately it's not different from watching another race where Max won.
That is the issue with this sport, the teams with all the money wins, lol, so for me, watching a race knowing damn well who's winning just to see a battle for 15 damn, i don't want to cheer a driver dominating getting wrecked or having issues .instead Watch Nascar or even Indycar because at least you have more action, and the teams are more closer for the win, i mean this year we saw a 3 wide photo finish at Atlanta in a Nascar Race

Perhaps the RB is not quite as dialed in as we thought.
That being said I personally do not enjoy the DNF. I wish Max's streak had been broken by some good action on track instead of a mechanical failure, but oh well.
I think it is not RB's fault. Brake system is not a part that a F1 team can make themselves. They buy from supplier. In this case they buy fron Brembo, same as Ferrari. If Perez's brake catched fire a few weeks ago, it may be Brembo supplied RB with a faulty batch from production. It may be Brembo's QC problem and RB was unlucky.
His streak was on 9 again as well.
Not gonna lie, this DNF will motivate Max into something crazy for Japan.

I was on turn 1 during the race and after 10 years of going to the formula 1, it was probably the most intense crowd reaction I've ever witnessed. 90% cheers, 10% max fans.

thanks for the post. watch every F1 race here in NYC, USA (3am in Japan coming up next). Gave up on watching "The Max Show" as it is such a farce. Here in USA, in Indy Car they all get the same car, and in Nascar, after the races they bring 2 cars to R & D and tear them down, and two days ago a different car got penalized on site post race for being too low (?!?!>) lost something like 20 or 30 points. Anyway, thanks for the vid; great editing.
