Marvel Legends Retro Ironman Wave

- Word on the street from @rektangular is we have a Marvel Legends Retro card wave coming next year. This isn't a huge shock because we assume Hasbro wouldn't make that card back just for the 2 figures they already have on it but would potentially do a wave with it. This has been on Dakota's list of topics for the show for about a year now and we finally get to talk about it.
And if you want one of those sweet sweet shirts Dakota is wearing you can get them here: www.etsy.com/l...

Melter is the only Original member of the Masters of Evil we haven't got. Or at least that we can't Fudge or use MCU Version of. I used the Medieval Helmet on a Black Knight and MCU Skurge. I have Zemo, Enchantress, and Radioactive Man. For a Female Figure we could maybe get an updated Madame Masque. Don't know if she was in the show.
I'm pretty sure Madame Masque was in the show and you're right, that would be a good figure to get. I hear a quite a few people wanting that figure.
I'm missing a lot of those old villains, hence why I'm working on a Plant Man and finished up making a custom Scarecrow. They need to make a wave or 2 of old villains that appear across many different comics. Porcupine could be the BAF on the first wave.
Sunturion would be a deep cut to a single episode if you remember that one. I think it's a space armor episode from the second half of the series.
I think that would be cool if there was one or 2 deeep cut figures.
They’ll do a proper classic Ironman. 80th Ironman in classic colors, Blacklash, Blizzard, 1st appearance in Gold, Graviton, a suited Tony Stark, Living Laser , Unicorn, Dreadknight reissue . Real simple repaints , can’t expect Hasbro to give us any new sculpts
I think you're probably right on Living Laser, Blizzard, and Blacklash Dreadknight and Tony Stark. I don't think Graviton or Unicorn were in the show so I would kind of doubt they would be in the wave. And I feel like the Gold 1st appearance would be in either a 2 pack, or more standard release.
Great video!
-Blacklash: Dan Yun mentioned him about a year ago as a character that would be fun to have.
-Stingray: is in Armor Wars, so he does theme with Iron Man.
-Jack of Hearts: loosely fits with Iron Man, was mentioned at NYCC as “he’s coming”.
-Count Nefaria: he was on the rumor list from a couple of months ago, which had Ben Riley and Jack O’Lantern.
-Iron Man 300 or Heroes Reborn: are also on the rumor list.
-Madame Masque: old version could use an update.
-Dreadknight: fits the hint we got “appeared in a SDCC set but not general retail”.
-Ghost: the more eerie modern version also fits the "appeared in a SDCC set but not retail" and has the MCU connection, especially with the Thunderbolts film due out next year. The
-Mandarin: the most popular of them all. He has to be coming sometime.
Thank you sir, your added details warm my heart. I didn't know they commented on Blacklash before. Stingray would be cool. Jack of Hearts I bought parts to make a custom for, so the chance he is coming soon makes sense because that means I may have wasted my money! Count Nefaria is gonna be popular and I wish they'd do Graviton too.
Where did the mention Jack of Hearts? I must have missed that one.
@@thestrongcollectors over on The Fwoosh it was reported by a Fwoosher who was at NYCC. He asked one of the guys directly, I think it was either Dwight or Dan, about Jack of Hearts and the reply was “he is coming”. Also, not necessarily related but he said something like “more Inhumans are on the way.”
Oh good to know. I'll have to see if I can find that. Not that you mention it I think I do remember them saying Jack was coming.
This is a fun topic, especially since Iron Man has so much untapped potential. I’m definitely up for a new Dreadknight. I sold mine a couple of years ago simply because he was fetching good money, and I’ve regretted it at times. I also think Mandarin and either Backlash or Whiplash seem likely. The thing with Backlash and Whiplash is that they’re easy repaints of each other, so I could definitely see Hasbro leaning in that direction. I would personally love a Red Ghost. As far as female characters go, we never did get a wide release of the comic Rescue with a Pepper Potts head. I could see that as well with her MCU pedigree.
I bet your right with the Blacklash and Whiplash being repaints of each other. Maybe Blacklash in this line and then a 2 pack of Whiplash and Ironman down the road. I think you made the right move on Dreadknight.
@@thestrongcollectors I'd actually like to have a Whiplash, a Blacklash, and the newer Whiplash done by Sean Chen in the completely bonkers outfit with a hover platform. He was memorable, goofy as he was.
To expand on your Rescue idea, not only a Pepper Potts head but a Toni Ho head also since she donned the Rescue suit at some point. Do a little Quake/Maria Hill scenario.
Plain clothes James Rhodes would be cool. I think they showed him like that in the comics before he donned the armor. Would love a Blacklash with green ponytail so wacky.
I agree. I feel like i would have to get Blacklash just for the novelty.
I second the notion! A Rhodey in a suit or a Rhodey in plain clothes would be awesome.
It blows my mind that we haven't gotten ANY version of the Mandarin and I wanna call BS on the whole "racial insensitivity" angle, we're not asking for the first appearance Mandarin who was a racial stereotype, we want a classic Mandarin in the yellow and green robes, hell since they like making the least popular versions of characters first why not do the suited version first to gauge the audience for Mandarin, Iron Man fans would buy him instantly (I know I would). Like they got Asians on the Marvel Legends team and it's not like they can't put out an asian villain when they did it with Wen Wu from the Shang Chi wave. I wish more people pressed them on why we haven't gotten no brainer characters like first appearance Ms. Marvel, updated She Hulks and Mandarin instead "muh toe joints!"
I'm with you there on the toe joints craze. It does feel like they throw a toe joint in and everyone looses their mind. I'm hoping they haven't done a she hulk yet because they were working on the new Power Princess body and now that it's done we'll get a new she hulk this year. I also think you're probably right with a suited Mandarin because Dwight even has a shirt saying "wrong costume" because they'll put out a less wanted version first and then the one people want after.
Ultimo would be great but he's pretty big. and that US Agent was from Force Works I believe. Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man would be perfect.
I'm not sure how many people would want that US Agent, I know I don't need him, but I'd love to see it. I would probably go for a Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man.
@@thestrongcollectors Also working on a version of that US Agent, though so far he's still in the research and purchasing stage of making the custom. I'll be damned if they end up making a Force Works US Agent!
The problem with Red Ghost is that he barely counts as an Iron Man villain. He's a mainstay of the Fantastic Four.
I feel like he would probably end up in a normal baf wave instead of a retro card.
@@thestrongcollectors I am working on a custom of him but having a hard time finding the 3rd ape figure options...
Speaking of Iron Man variants like the scuba suit, there were a few Marvel Legend figure themed suits released around the time of the second Iron Man film. I think they were exclusive to a store or something. They were hard to find for me and honestly not the best figures. But I think there was a scuba suit, heat suit and ice suit. They were in the same vein as you are talking about with a version of the snap on armor by having action weapons (drills, claws and stuff).
I think I might have got a bunch of those kind of Ironmans in a lot a year or so ago. You're right though, not the best figures but cool ideas. I think Hasbro could do a good job of updating a couple.
For the purpose of reuse titanium man could become juggernaut collosus also he could use the collosus aoa body the did a collonaut in 3.5 inch years back
Would parts from Destroyer work too?
The next Haslab is going to be Fing Fang Foom it was supposed to this one but they shifted the Haslab line up trying to do one old redo and one newer more "contemporary" Haslab figure but that failed with the Roby Rayous miss but for now sticking to tried and true that have been done side note it will be an army builder so I presume it will be alt heads for the other cosmic dragons with the cosmic power rings . But they were different colours so no ider how that will work.
Where did you hear that it was supposed to be Foom this time but got switched to Giant Man?
@@thestrongcollectors I know a guy in the toy industry who works at Mattel....must know some Hasbro guys can't say .......?
I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion topic gentlemen. Being a Shellhead fan since TVs were sold mainly in black and white I can state that his rogues gallery is very underappreciated by Hasbro. Evidence declares this true with the amount of villains that have yet to be produced: Blood Brothers, Whiplash, Mandarin, Firebrand, Madame Masque, Melter and so many others.
Hey JayWoods483, I'm not in the game as long as you but Iron Man is my first favorite Marvel character (though Spidey now rivals him for first). Yeah we need some of those older villains badly. I have been researching doing Blood Brothers and the Brothers Grimm, but can't find very good options for a beginner like me. Firebrand! Good call! That would be great also. There are so many villains I want and the Ghost is another.
I'm shocked they have never done a Whiplash. Firebrand, Madame Masque and Melter seem like they would be easy enough to do too. Maybe not going to get any new parts with them but still odd Hasbro hasn't done/redone them yet. Didn't they do a Madame Masque back in early hasbro? I feel like I never see that figure though so now I'm thinking I might be wrong.
@@thestrongcollectors t remember a Masque from the old days. We can get 10's of I.M. variants with a lot of unique sculpts but rarely any of his villains. Why wouldn't it be a great idea to have a dedicated Villains wave for each of the superheroes? Rule No. 1 in comics is you can't have a superhero without a supervillain.
@@JayWoods483 I would love to see more all villains wave. I really liked the Xemnue wave
@@thestrongcollectors I know right? Whatever happened to that agenda? Why not 2 X Bring on The Bad Guys waves each year? Spread out the villains so they are not from all one character/team. Include BAFs.
Scarlet Witch, USAgent, and Hawkeye are my most wanted for an Iron Man retro wave.
What would be different about Hawkeye from the one we just got?
@@thestrongcollectors Same minus the sky cycle. Many people didn't pick it up due to the increased price point. Especially people like me in South Africa.
@@thestrongcollectors different suit. It'd be a lot of reuse, but that's Marvel Legends.
Dark Aegis would be good to get, and maybe classic costume Living Laser, and Melter. Classic Cobalt Man would be cool, too. And the version of Mandarin that I'd like to see is the 80s version, with the dragon tattoo on his chest.
I forgot to mention Dark Aegis. He would be cool to get. I'll have to look up Cobalt Man but he sounds cool.
Dark Aegis was cartoon only but had a cool design. Melter, Living Laser, and Unicorn are sorely needed for hard-core Iron Man fans. The hero characters in the show were based on Force Works more than West Coast Avengers. And by the way, the Iron Man 300 leak could be the Iron Legion. I like your idea for Cobalt Man. I'm working on a Crusher custom now.
Bethany Cabe would be a very welcome addition as an important female character.
I’m down for Melter an Unicorn
had to look up Unicorn. That would be shocking if they did that.
Sorry not trying to spam anyone, but Iron Man is my favorite character. Reusing parts of the Destroyer would be very ideal for making Dreadnoughts, the Maggia default henchman other than mobsters. They would make great army builders and most of the parts of the Destroyer could be reused and cast in a bluish grey plastic. They would also work perfectly with a new Madame Masque or some other Maggia related villains.
I can't wait to see how they reuse parts from Destroyer. That's a great figure and I'm sure we could get some other good stuff with it.
This was a fun very rewatchable video my personal predictions are
Dreadknight 100% is coming in my opinion then next next year he will be repainted into original evil black knight
Ghost 80% he looks like moon knight with extra bits added on hopefully pinless
Red ghost 85% Seems like we are building the intelligencia so it only makes sense to make him with his super appes
Madame masque 70% Needs a update and appeared in the show
Aqua Iron man 95% It's iron man
Blacklash 60% Bootleg whiplash
Hypnotia 70% She only appeared in the cartoon to my knowledge so this would be a one and done thing
Crimson dynamo 65% He is in need of a update
Modok 0%
Titanium man 10% He is too tall and bulky
Also fantastic four retro carded wizard to help complete the intelligencia
I would like to see them do a few more FF retro cards in addition to Wizard and She Hulk. number one being Dragon Man!
An iron retro wave I could possibly be able to avoid completely unless they release someone they may never do again.
I think I would be more tempted by the villains they could do in that wave.
I want a new updated Whirlwind and Klaw, and whoever was in the old Data East arcade game.
Think theres a pretty decent chance that we see another Whirlwind. I think Blizzard could beat him out though.
I like the way you think, good sir.
I would absolutely love a hydro armor or undersea armor or whatever it's called. I'm debating making my own custom one using a spare mk 1 armor I picked up for 7 bucks at target on clearance
I'm surprised they haven't made it yet. It seems like a no brainer but I guess it's a little unique.
Haven't finished the video but am I the only one who sees a box set like the Proton Cannon one but with War Machine and his War Destroyer super from Marvel vs Capcom as being possible??
I think only 2 at most villains are feasible, that's usually how they roll with retro card waves.
I definitely would like to see the Force Works versions of USAgent and Wanda, Century also is likely. Maybe carded Hawkeye for those who didn't wanted the Skycycle one.
With the FF retro wave we got 6 heroes and 4 villains. we have 2 heros on the Ironman retro card so we'd have 4 and 4 to go to make it the same.
What we need is a spiderman wave with a man spider TAS baf
I hope we get a man spider as a deluxe so we don't have to get a whole wave.
…how would they use Jack O’ Lantern for Dreadknight? The scales are on his torso, not his limbs…
Lol yeah that was my thinking. Buuut, considering they lost the scale arms and legs for the retro hobgoblin, they could do something similar for an animated inspired dreadknight maybe...
I don't know. Mainly just hoping we don't see a reuse of the break away leg body that they used before.
Sadly by adding the NOT pinless scaled arms, most likely...
(oh, and legs, but that's a LOT of freakin' scales, LOL)!
Probably a repaint of the old Dreadknight would best, and cheapest for Hasbro.
Dear hasbro we want some marvel legends band new villains late 90s Mandarin from Iron-Man Cartoon series 1994 most perfect work thank you hasbro we hope next year 2024 now keep up have a wonderful day peace.
I would bet that Mandarin would be a hot seller.
Ah definitely your are welcome can't wait coming soon 2024 mandarin late 90s.
Bring on the Dread Knight for sure.
fingers are crossed HARD
I’d like to see a ghost rider retro line in 2024
They have the card. Time to get the figures on it.
Lol if they made a Century figure, that'd be crazy. Too deep of a cut. Doubt we'll see it.
I wonder if people would love it though. I don't think there's any other way he would get made.
I'm getting close to finishing my custom Century. I thought they'd never make him (and Exodus from X-Men). Those 2 guys always get the shaft, though they did finally make an Exodus for HeroClix years back. I'd still love to have one since it's so hard to make my custom Century playable to a large extent.
They could also do really cool effects for Parallax's teleport and computer functions,, but then again it is Hasbro so it would probably be twirly purple flames effects only.
@@thestrongcollectors I just wonder if they ever make fewer of certain characters they know will have less demand. If they don't, they probably should for a century figure if I'm being honest lol. I don't know many who ever even watched that iron man series and I know it wasn't the best show either because it didn't last too long. I especially liked the second half of the show with that other animation studio. With the Mandarin searching for his rings subplot. That was awesome. It was so dark and a bit more serious. And I liked how that iron man basically had all of his specialized armors at his fingertips lol. Very unique.
Lmao got rid of my dreadknight. I did want to tho. But I notice the arms and legs have the scale on the old knight and goblins. Are we so sure the jack o lantern with only a scaled torso will be the new dreadknight?
That might be my wishful thinking getting me carried away. I just pray it's not a repaint of the old one. Although Hasbro has been using softer plastics so maybe the leg wouldn't snap off.
Nick Fury from the show and Dum Dum Duncan with jet packs.
There is a leak that we'll get a Dum Dum and Nick Fury in a 3 pack with Sharon Carter next year.
What about Iron Man Mark II, Gold repaint of the recent Mark I?!
That's for sure coming (i assume). I just don't think it will be in this retro carded wave.
@@thestrongcollectors Maybe in a later BAF wave, as the one figure that DOESN'T include a BAF piece...
I feel like Ironman normally doesn't get the baf part.
Ultimo is enormous. I'm modding the upcoming Giant Man into one.
I had never seen him in the comics or cartoon. only in the trading cards. I'll have to look up the episode of the show he's in.
@thestrongcollectors I hope you can check out Iron Man:The Legend. It has a lot of typos from its rushed production schedule, but that one shot issue covers so much of Iron Man's lore.
I'll have to see if that on Marvel Unlimited.
I've seen Iron Man: The Legend online before at a little place called onemillioncomics. It's not the best way but it happens.@@thestrongcollectors
Hasbro will not do the racist old Mandarin design. I can definitely see them doing the animated series or a suited mandarin.
I feel like if they don't do him on the retro card, they never will.
Yup
Dang I shoulda got my shirt signed since it’s only 1 of 2 😂
When we meet up in person we'll totally sign it!
There’s a lot of iron man armors need a redo.
True and still some we haven't got. What amor do you want them to update first?
@@thestrongcollectors the bleeding edge armor no doubt, with all new sculpt that would be awesome
That does seem like an amor people would really like to get. I bet Hasbro does it at some point in the future.
🧐How can Dread knight☠️ come on the new Jackolantern body the scales are total on the legs an arms not the chest like Jacks 🤦🏻♂️but with that said I do need a Dread knight he’s been one of my favorite Iron man villains 🫡✌🏼
Someone mentioned that in the last video too. Maybe I'm wrong. I guess the scales would be reversed instead of just being on the torso they would be on the arms and legs. I just really hope it's not a straight up repaint of the old one. Probably my wishful thinking getting the better of me.
🫡 I feel ya bro and my wishful thinking 🤔 would be give us a whole new buck for Dread knight …. Keep doing your thing guys much love from south Texas 🙏✌🏼
I just want Moon Knight characters, besides a 6th Moon Knight.
What characters would be on your list?
That's Whiplash, not Blacklash.
you would think so but it's Blacklash. you can see the name on the card when I hold it up and you can Google the ToyBiz figure. 100% Blacklash. I don't know if it's the same character or not.
@@thestrongcollectors Oops You're right. I always mix those two up. Whiplash was his earlier villain. How did Iron Man get two such similar villains anyway? LOL!
I wonder if it was some sort of rights thing where Marvel said they couldn't use Whiplash for the cartoon and they said fine we'll make up a new character and they'll wear black and be named Blacklash.
@@thestrongcollectors But wasn't he in the comic books before that? I don't recall the cartoon but I know Blacklash was in Iron Man around issue #146 or 147 and that would have been 1981.
Oh you're probably right. The only place I have ever seen Blacklash was in the cartoon. Same with Century.
