That place is awesome I've been there a couple of times. The city the store is in has a very large Asian community and they take fish keeping very seriously.

That Severum you liked is Heros Severus. It's different from the Efasciatus which is the commonly sold one. If you can get high quality ones they look better than Rotkeils/Redheads. The ones that look best are the ones out of the Curare region of Brazil.

i don’t support betta’s in cups but i do always buy them if i have the space and if they look good just because they don’t deserve that, so i save them basically. i currently have 2, have had 5 at one time they lived their full lives all in 5 gallons or bigger all to themselves

You could do a marine betta no problem. They’re not aggressive and actually a bit shy. Only thing to note is they could eat small fish but won’t show aggression towards tank mates. I have one in a 170g and it’s been great!
Very nice store. Great livestock. Fortunately, there's plenty of them throughout the US. New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida, Washington State, California, etc. We are blessed to have so many choices here.
The beta fish hobby has exploded with some fish having mind boggling coloration. As a monster fish hobbyist, I always over looked them. Now I have a custom 7 gallon tank for my beta that over looks my kitchen/living room window sill. Love it.

I love bettas. It's been about 10 years since I've had any though. Love fish but I hate the upkeep.
imagine those wild discus on one side of the big tank😍. altums on the other side.🥰 and the geos pulling all the plants out 😜 when i was younger my dad had a 8ft tank and the (not wild) discus and(normal) angels took their own side of the tank. wild fish would be so much better.

You have to Visit germany Duisburg zoo zajak, Biggest pet store in europe where you also can buy different crocodiles also Biggest fishstore, they have not many of the crazy Exotik fish like flowerhorn and arowana, redtail catfish and stuff which are Common in florida but they have it too, crazy choose of discus, angle, and other Bass, also very big saltwater section, in winter not but in summer also outside pond section wirh many crazy koi stuff, sturgeons, ducks.. etc

Decent to good care of the fish, but the tortoise care on the front desk is atrocious. Where’s the UVB and the heating? Turtles and tortoises absolutely require UVB or they will develop bone issues. It just looked like a standard aquarium light

I don't get the wild discus guys. Any angelfish is better/(more beautiful) than a wild discus. The only reason to go for discus (and everything that goes with them) is the colors.
That area has 2 of the best fish stores in Los Angeles. There was a third in Monterey Park that had a huge room dedicated to fresh water plants. The best store for those hard to find fish and big selection of lake Tanganyikans is Bobs Tropical Fish on the border of East LA & Monterey Park.
