      Difficulty? Great!
Scaling? This is the worst possible thing in any game that allows your character to grow in power.

    • @PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth
      @PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth Před 22 dny +3

Scaling isn't something you can just stick on a game at the end. You need to design the entire thing with its inclusion in mind. New content with higher difficulty is more feasible, but it depends heavily on what one means by "difficult." Are we talking increased mechanical complexity, or bigger damage/HP numbers? Both add "difficulty" but only one actually feels good to experience.

The fact of the matter is that exploration is enjoyable in ER, but the leashing on enemies and Fromsoft's area resetting systems make the open world into a smaller factor than people realize. Effectively it gives them a larger area to hide things and worldbuild, but for combat purposes you are working with a similar area as you were in previous games for each group of enemies you find.
I wouldn't want ER to have the same exploration as DD2 for a multitude of reasons, but DD2's open world truly justifies itself in a way that i've never experienced with another game.

I think there are some dialog about specifically a Dwarf city. Its implied to exist from people the elf x dwarf couple (that I can't remember the name of) because they had to have run away from some kind of dwarf prejudice too. It feels like there is a missing city of dwarves to contrast with our town of elves. I feel like we have to meet some kind of gathering of dwarves at some point of time, just to see what they are like. There are also all these clogged/blocked gateways that seem to lead underground or into the side of mountains. They look like ruins or an entrance to a larger structure. I think it would be insane, but cool if those were opened up in the game like some kind of Underdark situation. Like, theres another world living underneath ours, like in Gregor the Overlander.

It would just turn it into the replayable game I really want Dragon’s Dogma to be. Plus BBI had like **very** light randomised/replayable elements, so there’s some proof it could work.

Dragon's Plague and the story/quests once you reached Battahl felt so obsurdly half-arsed I can only conclude the game was rushed to high hell at that point. Like, Post-Game has more 'meaningfull' content by like 3x compared to the Battahl->Grigori section. I want them to mainly add alot more quests around Battahl etc than anything else.
Also, for replay value, having a new savefiles have the option to start with all vocations unlocked if you've unlocked them once. Having to sprint through 90-100% of the game map, trying to not level up while doing so, just so you can do a "Pure Magick Archer" playthrough destroys my willingness to replay the game in new ways.

(looking at you "we don't want all players to look the same" -> wops end game gear strictly best in slot so all players look the same, give us transmog pls)
So if we follow the DD1 prophecy, the expansion will be it's own isolated smaller map/dungeon akin to BBI. A scene at the credits of the game leads me to believe it will be EXACTLY like BBI, i.e. arriving by boat.
Gear will 100% be a direct stat replacement that everyone will wear and look the same. Again. (again, please give us cosmetic slot)

Being able to scale any piece of equipment up to endgame levels, or add permanent elemental enchantments to every weapon if you wanted. Just make the materials necessary into a one-time pick up from the world in each playthrough to introduce people to the system, and make the main grind a semi-rare drop from monsters, with more difficult monsters having higher drop rates.

There’s no way to reduce it, but every step makes it go up very slightly, or you can turn into a dragon and use really powerful skills in battle and it goes up even more. However once it reaches 100% its game over, so you can soft lock yourself if you use too much too early.
Taking that kind of concept, where either you or your pawn can have a vocation that uses very strong dragon-like abilities but with a greater risk of causing dragonplague, so it’s a constant juggle of power versus longevity. Some kind of mechanic like that would be really neat!

I wish the unmoored world didn't have some dumb time limit and limited saves. I'd even love it if we had the Everfall dungeon as a dlc.

I really love the format of Bitterblack Isle.
It's scary, rewarding, and it comes in small chunks.
Nowadays, I know the place like the back of my hand, but when I went there the first time, it was an exciting experience, and I loved the feeling of progressing just a little bit further each time I went in.
The feeling when entering the Midnight Helix for the first time, and see.. that thing standing there.
No music, just the heavy breaths and the rustling of chains. My pawn wimpering "can we leave it alone, please?"
Or when you have cleared a room a bunch of time and start feeling confident and at home. Then Boom! Slow-mo effect, music changes, hello Garm!
I wouldn't mind that at all in DD2.
Also, the game needs to reward exploring more.
    A DLC could fix that.
When clearing a dungeon, you should be rewarded with a nice weapon or armor piece, not a ferrystone or wakestone shard.
Arenas, like the Rotunda of dread and Black abbey would be nice as well.
My pawn and I spent a ridiculous amount of time in those arenas during our first playthrough.
If I had the choice between more open world or a bbi- like dungeon, I would go for the dungeon without hesitation.
But having both would be the best option.
As for quality of life patches for the main game, I think it's really starting to come together now. If they just could stop wandering pawns from breaking the flow when I'm out adventuring, it would be amazing. They shouldn't speak until spoken to, and they should definitely not steal focus, grab my camera and so on. I really hope that behaviour goes away.
I don't want to have to remember to unsheathe my weapon as soon as I see a pawn approaching.

  • @MuraCasardis
    @MuraCasardis Před 23 dny +1

I pretty much agree with all your wishes, ESPECIALLY dungeons/caves with good and bigger designs. RE-Engine snow biome would be amazing, especially since we had a taste of that visual in RE8.
I don't want a hard mode like DD1 though. That will just get stomped as quickly after you level up a bit. What I want is a Level-scaling mode for enemies so they will always be stronger as you level up.
Also, if they add new enemies from a DLC content island, they NEED to add at least some of them into the main game and swap with some spawns based on RNG. Isolating them on a content island is unacceptable IMO.
Lastly, make pawn guilds functional again with random/refreshable notice board quests, especially to hunt boss monsters. Great way to vary spawns while also getting pawn badges.

I've encountered dragonsplague a few times, never got the BIG EVENT from it though.
The first time i saw it was when i activated one of those broken rift stones and a high level pawn popped out, i was needing a new ally at the time, since i was still low level and new to the game and this huge lady steps out with glowing red eyes and just rips into me. Definitely a memorable moment.

Would love to see a legendary bounty/hunt type system with notification boards added back into the game.
I’m thinking essentially it generates a random much more difficult encounter somewhere in the region when you accept the quest, with the possibility for them to add new enemies that would otherwise not fit well into the usual world, like cockatrices or similar enemies to those in the Everfall or BBI from DD1.
This could also tie into upgrading whatever equipment they add in the DLC, and along with maybe a couple new vocations, would add a lot more unpredictability to the game instead of grinding the same set enemy spawns over and over.

I too want another open world, and I thought of some potential themes for it:
    1. Something anachronistic where we explore the history of the Ancient Battleground and the apparent surrounding ruined civilization, including the original structures of the mountain shrine, where half of it crumbled into the swamp.
    2. Northwards, specifically to address why there is a checkpoint and border there, perhaps exploring the region of the ruined civilization from the first game where Grigori fight takes place.
    3. Some kind of zone transition on Agamen going through the Duskmoon Tower to a previously unknown/now accessible location, perhaps tropically themed.

Later on, having a party of 5 means access to more vocations and being able to choose specific skills. This also means they can really increase the stats for DLC monsters since you have a party of 5 instead of 4. And can make it more challenging for solo runs since it's meant to be ran as a group of 5. Imagine the fun voice lines between your 2 main pawns too.

Definitely want a hand to hand vocation, paunch is fun. Probably could get away with some funny sub vocations that nudge a class's stuff around but makes their flavor extremely different. Like a Kensai sword saint deal for fighter that can still block, gets their shield moves changed, and has a completely different animation set, (probably thief adjacent armor style). There's a lot of thematic overlap space that you can't justify another vocation because of, but it would be still cool to have so that might be a reasonable way of doing it. A hard mode world state (which maybe you opt into if you want access to the DLC region immediately.) for NG+. There's lots of cool directions it can go, as long a they do it I am sure it'll be very engaging.

Other than hard mode (that also tweaks monster speed and aggressiveness), ng+ plus scaling, new monsters and core skills. I would like to see a sophisticated procedurally generated infinite dungeon akin to the chalice dungeons in Bloodborne or the "endless tower" from the conceptual design works for DD1. The dungeon could implement DD2's campfire/survival mechanics into it, implementing the sort of atmosphere games like Darkest Dungeon have. It could also have the customizable difficulty you mentioned by having different layers that vary in difficulty, content, and rewards. It could even tie the whole pawn plot by making the endless dungeon an in-between place where abandoned/corrupted pawns get lost, like BBI.

I think--considering the multiple blocked-off underground entrances around the map, as well as the presence of Dwarves as a distinct race--an underground open-world would actually be wonderful. Something structured like a dungeon, but with the design of an open-world, built underneath the existing map, would be a dream expansion. Something akin to an Underdark area, where all the most fucked up monsters exist.
Placing it underneath the existing map would expand the already excellent non-linear exploration with a risky, but rewarding underground layer linking between various parts of the map. It could also be an opportunity to explore more of the ancient world, buried underground, in similar theme to Dark Arisen. If we wanna go really classical with it, it could be made multi-layered, and represent multiple layers of a Hel-type realm in-lore.

Honestly if a new location is added I kind of hope the spawn rates for enemies is a little lower there. I get why the developers made them so high since it will increase the chances of unique interactions between different groups of enemies, but it just doesn’t help when there is such low variation between the different small enemies. Heck even a lot of the bigger enemies need more variation since a majority of the over world encounters are trolls, cyclopses, Minotaurs, or griffins. I just want something different instead of walking into battahl and facing hordes of goblins, wolves, and harpies.
