  • SHEFFIELD | Tour of New Era Square off Bramall Lane
New Era Square is a mixed-use development located in Sheffield, England. It is situated next to the St Mary's Gate roundabout on the Inner Ring Road of Sheffield City Centre. The development includes:
Office space: A landmark office building with modern open plan floors, basement parking, and stunning views over Sheffield.
Retail and leisure: A range of shops, restaurants, and bars, including Lykke, a Nordic-themed bar and restaurant, and Dokidoki, a Japanese restaurant.
Public square: An open-plan landscaped square with outside seating, providing a space for people to relax and socialise.
New Era Square was developed by UK-Chinese Sheffield businessman Jerry Cheung and is funded entirely by inbound Chinese investment. The architectural design for the project was undertaken by Sheffield-based architects firm Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson Ltd.
Here are some of the things you can do at New Era Square:
Have lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants.
Enjoy a drink at one of the bars.
    Relax in the public square.
Do some shopping at the shops.
    Visit the offices.
New Era Square is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. It is a great place to go to relax, socialise, and enjoy all that Sheffield has to offer.

Tell me why you are filming on a Sunday because my theory is you don't want people to see what it's like midweek when there should be loads of people but there aren't any.
Why they are building new bits of town in disjointed places beggars belief it's like they want to carve it up on purpose.

I only recognised St Mary's Church....but then it has been 35 years since I left Sheffield. Looks terrific.

Practically unrecognizable since the 1970's and some of the buildings are ultra modern; I'd love to come back and visit one day.

I was baptised at St Mary’s and my Gran lived on Midland St. This area has totally changed from the 70’s when I knew it. I think there was a kids play area somewhere there with swings, rocking horse and slide - all on to tarmac! It paid not to fall off in those days. Wasn’t there a car showroom there and a small factory building to do with work for less able people?

Looks snazzy. Sheffield is looking very different from how I remember it when I visited 20 years ago. I remember a grey rainy day getting off the bus looking up at the Park Hill estate. I think that has been done up as well, hasn't it? Great to see all this investment up there!

There wasn't much there, car dealers and the Sportsman pub if you wanted to fight the world in the name of football.
London Road itself (not too far away) was great when all the pubs were open, but most are long gone.
What needs to happen is a way to bridge the gap created by the ring road, because it cuts this area off from the Moor and into town.

It looks beautiful and a far-cry from when I lived in Sheffield in the early 1990s.
However, without wanting to sound pessimistic, I just how long it'll be before that sculptured deer will be vandalised? It looks a prime target!

i used to be staying at the student residence right beside at sheldon street before this was built.
Definitely a huge change. I rmb the KH oriental market many years back was just a warehouse style supermarket. So many had changed over last decade.

A bleak concrete ghost town, Chinese students sat in shoeboxes in the sky, Chinese shops with Chinese writing only, a once thriving industrial area with pubs, workshops, little mesters, housing, characters and soul. All swept away, socially cleansed. The workshops across the road, side of St Marys are now coffee, barista and vintage clothing nonsense frequented by yuppies.
As usual the yuppies cherry pick what they want to save and the rest is demolished.
    A dystopian future 👍
