wow I'm especially exited to walk down the back alley to see a couple of trade rubbish skips I mean where else could you see such sights 🤣🤣
🤣🤣
I've lived in Sheffield all my life n yes do know about these places. The sad fact is our canal pass is a shambles 😪 compared to other cities!! Shame on Sheffield!
Get a life
I know all theses places....
Its the people that make Sheffield such a fantastic place.... But if you live in a city where people call you love you will fall In love with it.. X
Is duck still used?
True
Duck not used so much now.dont know why I call everyone love hope they don't mind.
Most Sheffielders who visit the city know about these places but have no reason to frequent them as there's nothing really down them. Mainly used as short cut walks.
Not true that everyone knows about them
As I have just said about the first two, a waste of money. Isolated and unused for the first one, the second one hardly used (like it used to be along with the first) so a waste of money if no one sees or uses them and the third, a dead end. Wow, how wonderful is that.
@@SheffieldVideos who mentioned everyone? Of course not everyone, read the replies carefully.
I stayed in Sheffield for a week to work and I went to a few really good restaurants and the Ecclesall road but I didn't see the places in your video. I'm not only referring to the hidden places but the streets too. I truly enjoyed.
I’m a Sheffield born and bred,in 50 s and 60s anybody could walk where they wanted at night ,just shows over the years how so called government have miss managed England so bad ,that kids have to be monitored at all times ,and definitely not let out at night ! What do you think happened ???
Nothing happened other than people's perception of risk changes as they age.
I love this city, it accepted and protected me from the war. Many thanks
Sheffield loves you x
Proud of my city for helping :) but naturally hope the war ends and you get to go home again happy!
@@Wickerrman I hope

Last time l visited the sun was extremely well hidden
Thank you for introducing these secrets.
My pleasure!
Is there enough to see and do in Sheffield for 3 days ?
Over the past year and half, my wife and have had several short city breaks which have included London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, York and Liverpool, with three more repeat trips already planned for this year.
I am trying to think of somewhere new to visit, for late in the year, or even early 2025, hence this question.
Although my wife likes the shops, we both enjoy seeing new places of interest, such as museums, cathedrals etc.
Birmingham, Chester, Cardiff, Sheffield, Aberdeen, Inverness are other possibilities.
Good morning. It's a beautiful winter's sunny start to the day. Thank you for the 3 Sheffield secret alleyways. I have been to the first 2 but not the 3rd, secret place. I will go today as I am out walking. Have a great, happy, positive day and week
The third is a dead end.
These are great, thank you! I've been told that the circular concrete 'installation' in the ground at the closed end of Black Swan Walk was used originally a turntable to turn the coaches around so the horses could properly lead them out again. Do you think this is possible?
Yes that's true - check www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk - there's a discussion on there about it
I was recently down black swan lain I think at one point it was open at the other end. It does look like some sort of rail track for a turntable or something
Yeah I believe that to be true, was told the same.
I took my 15 year old daughter down there to show her the place where the turntable was. It’s a funny little place, almost feels like you shouldn’t be there 😅
Yes it was a turntable for coaches
They're druggie hot spots though these back allys. I was clenched whilst you walked down them, always dodgy buggers down there.
Thankfully I'm six foot three and built like a tank 🤣
I went to see the one o'clock time signal at the top of Fargate and then I was about to have a look down Black Swan Walk........and two dodgy chaps were just going down it in front of me, so I gave it a miss. It was lashing it down as well, I think it's a sunny day potter, everything looks better on a sunny day!
The first one, the Riverside walkway has been there years, it just used to be locked at the lady's Bridge end cus there used to be businesses operating before it was all done up and made into offices/flats, and they cleaned it up and made into a walkway.
Yea!! And it is one part of the 5 weirs walk from castlegate to meadowhall. Really nice to explore, I hope more people can notice about the hidden lanes in Sheffield!
I saw a supermarket there Nisa Local I think it was?
The building that was Hancock and Lants , on way to lady’s bridge was an old horse hospital
When you said 3 secrets I thought you were going to be going to the hidden tunnel and other hidden areas like the hidden hospital that you have to climb over a wall to get into the underground hospital.
Maybe in the next one!
Used to be locked gates both ends of the Riverside walk back a few years
With some many rejuvenation/construction projects going on, it will be interesting to see a year from now what Sheffield looks like.
Very true
Thank you. As shown here, the narrow lane across from Starbucks has a large concrete circle. It once had a turntable, to turn the horses and carts around, to get out of the narrow lane into town.
I love being an olg git. Get concession on buses, trains, Supertram then old people concession on ticket prices. I am 67, I run. I will beat you to the bus stop pretty much most of the time. On form, I do 6 miles. Totally love it, don't intend to grow old!😊
You just showed everyone where the drug addicts and homeless visit regularly.... most shops closed down.... You should have done a video of Sheffield councils delusions.
I don't 'do' moaning about the council on this channel Wayne.
I leave that to the mad old gimmers on the Sheffield facebook groups 🤣
I was born and brought up in Sheffield, had to leave in order to get a job. So sad as how the city has been hacked into little pieces in order to access it. Bus services wierd now. Visiting Mum in hospital requires taxi services now, no through bus.
Live in Leicester now, has good train access, courtesy of Midland Mainline. Can get to football now, pensioner discount on train fare plus free fare on Supertram. Wednesday also has senior citizen discount, enables me to come. I can now support the Massive. WAWAW
I’m living in Sheffield since 2022
Definitely great city i like it more than any cities ❤🎉
Me too! I moved in 2021 and its such a friendly vibrant place :)
YOU NEED TO GET OUT MORE.
Black Swan Walk was full of shops at one time, the fronts was on your right as you walked down it. Now the shops are on the other side. And as said before there is the remains of a carriage turntable at the bottom.
I have been down all 3 of these.
The tiled building on Lady's bridge is amazing and when you take a look at the roof the lead flashing and finnals are out standing. And under the bridge is a place called the Cathedral under ground water way. 👍
It’s called megatron
how interesting is that(the lead has now been stolen.
It's weird that the wicker, the main road looks like ass but round back it's actually quite alright.
Changed loads in the last twenty years too eh!
As a kid growing up in Sheffield during the early 80s we many times walked through that last one called Jew lane but never until now knew the name. I can imagine how it got that name too.
Knocking a lot of old places down I wonder if kalam Ireland has anything like that
I can see why not many people want to go to these places.
Sheffield is a beautiful city!
@@chrisgeelan4483it is but he probably meant because they are down the sort of alleyways you'd expect to find some drug users 😀
These spots are only useful if your trying to have a cheeky one night stand in public on a Saturday night without bringing the bird home.
Sheffield is Green, great and formidable. Happy 23
Thanks, you too!
Usually is its shite.🤪
@@karinajones1121 yes, many area's in Sheffield are unfortunately.
I did know that Jew Lane...didn't dare to walk it though ta! Great video mate.
Thanks mate - I'll not be going back down it though!
I didn’t know about Jew Lane🧐 I have walked past the entrance/exit you came out of at the end of this video many times. 😂
Not secret places you just dont go there expecially at night
Very true
I live in this area. Please don't go walking down the alleyway. It's a hideout for undesirables, and there's no alternative exit if you get cornered by anyone.
was this filmed early on a sunday morning?
Possibly yes - I can't remmeber now
it has a sunday morn feel, i recognise that was it early june?
@@SheffieldVideos
i live in chesterfield:)
My partner lives in Sheffield
Used to use Jew lane in the 70s when coming out of the civic cinema. Wigfalls tv shop was next to it. The civic cinema burnt down.
Ah yes! Forgot about those!
Why not mention the turning circle in the lane off chapel walk?
I did it in the longer video I did on that lane David 👍🏻
46 years born and bred in Sheffield I’ve looked down this lane many times walking past, reminds me of shambles in York but a modern raped one also never did I know about that little snicket Jew lane 👍
Bet you don't know where the rhubarb mines are...
What's that secret about? Or just abandoned?
Where was everybody?
The filming seems to be in the early morning which will explain the lack of people.
I knew about the one next to chapel walk but have never been down i will ask my dad who has lived in sheffield 88 year 🙏
Be careful doing down there though
Where are the peoples?
Sheffield has changed a lot since 1999, when I moved here. It looks way more beautiful now.
Well said!
What are you promoting here?? The best places in Sheffield to get mugged!!
🤣🤣🤣
Should re title this "Good places to go and get mugged".
We're is the the home is for people who been homeless it's called the maze
Not sure sorry
2.30 usually got human turds all over path from druggies and hobos haha
The secret is to get out as fast as you can .
Not really it’s. Great city
Other than the Black Swan Walk off Fargate, the other two are empty, isolated, almost unused by most people and a complete waste of money. No wonder it is said about Castlegate that it is a secret place. No one goes there. Nothing to brag about.
Used to be my secret places to take women now u have ruined it
🤣
I’ve been on them all,I’m Sheffield born n bred plus for a few years I lived in the cannon pub just up from lady’s bridge,I’ve probably been in more secret places than you have lol
Old video, All the work has been completed down at Riverside.
Ok
No new discoveries here mate... Are you sure you're a Sheffielder? 😄
Cool comment - honestly
I think in fact that it could be the coolest comment ever posted on the internet
@@SheffieldVideos Cheers dude
Secret?
Yep!
You're having a laugh if you think folks don't know about those areas
ok
The Don stinks, it is polluted🤣
The first one is not a secret 🤷🏻♀️
How do you KNOW though? 😉
I know all three.. tis a shame they look like they do.. Jew Lane and Black Swan Walk need sprucing up..
Not really a secret tho
It doesn't matter though mate - it's just a bit of fun. Relax 🤣
@@SheffieldVideos quite relaxed, just felt like clickbait for tourists
@@DnB-BMX then what you felt was wrong
Nothing secret about these places...
ok
I think you're being very generous calling them graffiti 'artists'. Just looks like a load of tagging
so sad that even "secret " places have graffitti !
yes sadly you're right
What a dead and boring city if these are the “hidden secrets”
It's just a bit of fun.. dont' worry about it
Exactly.
Most boring town ever!
We don't do negativity on this channel mate 👍🏻
Waste of 10 minutes of my life. Should be called 3 back alleys you can use to piss when you're going home drunk from the city center.
Sorry to have wasted your life.
I guess it was 12 minutes if you include the time it took you to type your comment too
I knew of the third secret, jew lane, but do you know how it got its name. Well that's easy, it's because it's the tightest lane in sheffield 🤣🤣🤣
There’s a reason why I don’t go through swans lane and Jew lane cause of thieves and murderous people lurking there.
Sick of murderous people.
All that murdering they do
Ruddy murderers
@@SheffieldVideos reply !!!! 😂😂😂
@@wayneplatts7733 🤣
Why do the black swan and not say the brilliant history of it . Pointless .
It's not about the Black Swan - calm down 🤣
What are you on about everyone knows about megatron ..!
Incorrect ...!
