  • In Kenya, where students in a school, located just next to Nairobi's largest landfill, have started planting bamboo trees to avoid getting sick. Around 2000 tonnes of unregulated waste is brought to the site, every day. It's polluting the air, and putting the children's health at severe risk. Grace Kuria Kanja reports.

The South American species of the Madake (Phyllostachys reticualta) and Moso (Phyllostachys edullis) are some of the fastest-growing bamboo varieties, which can grow over an inch per hour and max out at 150 feet tall (45 m), with each stem having a diameter of 14 inches (35 cm).
If properly grown this can suffice the need of furniture of the country.

I don't understand why they don't realize poor air quality is not going to affect just that area. It effects the whole of the world.
