Yes. Hes serious. Amputation is horrific because the nerve pain is almost too much too bear.
Nah. He is stupid that caused him a leg. He doesn't understand why they are asking about his pain scale.

I am an amputee because of a doctors mistake that occurred when I was giving birth. It is 27 years later and YES I still have excruciating pain.
What was the mistake?
That's so fucked up. My uncle lost his foot in the hospital cause they literally refused to take care of him. They just let him rot. Hospital can be so dangerous sometimes
Did you ever sue the hospital đ
I canât say whether or not this will work but for my nerve damage I have melatonin (sleeping hormone) really helps.
I hear that happens to black women at an alarming rate.
yeah. fantom limb pain is really hard to treat. i dont blame him. im so glad mine isnt that bad.
My uncle had his leg amputated and yeah . This is very painful. The fact that not even painkillers help and you desperately want something to end the pain you feel but can't do anything sucks because the doctors can't give you too much painkillers
Same here had mine blow off by an IED back in 2006. I lucked out and don't have much phantom pain. I dot get nerve muscle and other problems form the shrapnel and the blast blowing me into the roof of my humvee. (No I'm not trying to one up y'all just telling you my story) LONG LIVE THE NUBS
I was rolling my eyes until the stump. Give that man whatever he asks for.

đ no you didnt! At least you knew to excuse yourself.
Hahaha, good one! I feel like this dude in the video would appreciate your humor. Too bad he couldn't give you a standing ovation.
Theyâre asking you to see if the pain is different to the pain you had yesterday. Even the most excruciating pain will ebb and flow with time. Itâs a tracking tool. If you say 10 every time it means something is seriously wrong (⊠which fucking duh he has no leg), so they should be increasing his dosage and have him on PRN pain meds.
Nobody should be in that much pain in a hospital. I get why heâs saying it. But I also get why the nurses are questioning him. Itâs just protocol.
No figure he lost a leg because of his stupidity.
@@joannedelacruz4664where did you get that from weirdo

@@alexisdaniel3171 it means if he can lie about his pain scale. or pain drugs don't work on him anymore. Either he is stupid or drug addict
I would hope they did increase and also gave him nerve pain medicine like gabapentin. Gabapentin was only thing that helped after my surgery along with strong opiates. Opiates alone didn't help though! Gabapentin not good for long term use though, great for a few weeks though as long as dosed down properly.
ayo, if i lost both my fucking legs you best believe i'm taking advantage of it. give me ALL the painkillers.
I heard that it was a lot of pain! Bless him Lord đđż!
When I was the joint, they gave me my own âpain relief button!â
The amount of times ive had to argue with a nurse about my pain level rating is insane they think because im not screaming my head off that i couldn't be in alot of pain. No im just dealing with it every day ive learned to mask or id be crying everyday lmao
Different pain medication require different numbers, and nurses ask after giving pain medication to see if it helped
For him, no pain medication that we carry would touch him. I say it all the time to my doctors âThey are having nerve pain, morphine wonât touch it.â They say âI know, but it will help take the edge off, so we can properly examine their limb.â
Always say 10, even if it's a scrape on your arm. Otherwise, they dont care
"But sir we have other patients in critical condition-"
"10"
Sir you only have a cold we have someone dy-
"10"
Lol like they don't know you're absolutely lying đ
Did people forget that people are able to know if one is lying or not đ
this is why there is distrust between healthcare workers and patients, and the cycle is vicious
Ouch, yeah! I'm sure that's painful.
I had a total ankle replacement.. after the nerve blockers wore off the pain was unbearable..I could only imagine his pain.. it has to be off the charts.. good luck with your recovery!â€
Remember
The stoicism of (black) patients is often misconstrued as zero pain
BELIEVE the rating.
I was in a car accident and mu foot was hurt. I couldn't walk on it.
Im black and a nurse, so of course i was sucking it up because i didn't wanna be burdensome to the paramerics
In the ambulance they asked my pain level. I said 10. They scoffed at me.
I said, "bro its a 10, but if it makes YOU feel better, call it an 8".
Bro literally says, "Yeah thet sounds a bit betterđŹ"
Upon xrays in the ED, the doc came and said, "your toes are detached from your foot. You have a Lis Franc Fx."
My pain was a TEN. My TOES bones were pulled away from the rest of my foot and SOME were crushed into shards!!!!
But because I was stoic and not writhing and performing my pain was doubted and diminished by the EMS workers.
Literally rated my pain to a level that made HIM feel comfortable...wtf...
And again, I am a nurse, in full uniform...
Black people are known to be stoic? Are other races stoic?
On the opposite end of that, if you express pain "over dramatically," they might think you're exaggerating to get meds.
As a woman I've been talked like I'm an incompetent child by doctors, despite knowing a lot about my condition. And when I asked for a few painkillers after a surgery, he reluctantly gave me about 4 total.
Like bro, if I was gonna be addicted, it would have been in 2012 when they gave me a script of 60 pain pills, plus two refills after a plastic surgery. We aren't magically more resistant to pain than men, who seem to always be believed.
Blacks are so stoic hahahaha is that before or after begging for reparations
Not a nurse, but as a black woman I've been there. I broke my orbital bone so my eye had swollen shut and blood was constantly flowing down the back of my throat making me alternately dry heave and throw up blood. It hurt so much I was crying silently. An ER nurse asked why I was crying and actually rolled her eyes when I said, "Because my eye hurts". Just because I'm not screaming hysterically and wailing out loud, it doesn't mean I'm not in severe pain.
This boils my blood! Im so sorry you had to experience that. Its cruel. I really hope those jerks learned a lesson assuming they found out your diagnosis. Your injury was definitely a 10! Im tired of using the 1 to 10 pain scale. Id rather tell them what it feels like. Im disabled with rsd. I told my doc it felt like someone was hitting my knee with a sledge hammer.I freaked when the nurse said, yeah, we hear that a lot...that was just one feeling of pain. The other wasnit felt like someone set my leg on fire. Then I said it felt like there were thousands of needles piercing my skin. Feels like bugs crawling under my skin. This was all related to a nerve injury stemming from a torn meniscus
If you want the really good stuff, tell them your foot itches, and you can still feel your missing toes. Thank me later!!â€
I know it must be unreal but not everyone lies about the pain to get more meds. For some, it's about making life bearable not roll by in a fog.
That's no way to live, either.
Peace n Comfort â€
Amputees can still feel their toes and their foot itching.... we nurses are fully aware of this and if we ask what is your pain level and you say a 10 and are recording a video on your phone you are still entitled to get your pain medication or whatever is prescribed for you. Thank me later â€
I'm so sorry â€đđđŽó §ó ąó ·ó Źó łó ż

I didn't have amputation... But I did have 2 surgeries in 12hrs to save my leg from blood clots. They cut my calf almost half open in 2 spots. My pain scale drastically changed. I then also found out that because of my mom being a red head (not all have it) I have a gene that makes me more tolerant to pain meds & anesthesia.
I saw 3 Drs in 22days before the final one checked & found out I didn't have a pulse.
Iâm also a redhead and Iâm required more pain medication than the norm. Iâve also had blood clots in my legs but I am an above the knee amputee

We ask you to rate it appropriately in order for us to accurately assess interventions and implement new ones as needed. Although pain is subjective, the need to educate people on the importance of appropriate reporting of that pain is essential. A level â10â pain should be associated with the level of pain one may experience before passing out due to the sensation of extreme discomfort or feeling like youâre having your skin scraped off with a rusty spoon while swimming in rubbing alcohol.
You have a pretty good Sense of humor đź

Damn, he's not going to be able to kick it no more.
I am allergic to Codeine and many other pain meds. I recently had 5 general surgeries culminating in an amputation. Because of my condition, my pain level goal was 5 of 10.
I spent 4 weeks in the hospital with a pain assessment averaging about six to seven. My post op anesthesia therapist actually administered fentanyl. On the ward they gave me morphine. Neither worked for long. Four months later, I still feel toes that donât exist anymore. Feels like my toenails are getting ripped out.

I have been struggling with migraines for about 5 years, and it always astonish me how a lot of nurses and doctors I've come across and don't take anything serious when I say how much pain I'm in. This happened to my brother too because he didn't take care of himself he had got bit by a spider im not sure what kind but he didn't tell anyone after a while it just got worse and he started passing out so much we had to call the ambulance so many times it was not good hes getting a prosthetic in a week hes doing so much better this is a message to everyone please take care of yourself :>
Most likely a Brown Recluse (or Funnel-Web) Spider...Their bite can cause your flesh to literally die!!!!
its true, he will live with pain forever, i dont speak from experience but my closest of friends unfortunately got into a motorbike acciden a coupme years back, he lost 4 inches of his femur to the road and had to have a titanium rod placed throughout the bone that was left to eventually have it pull itself together (the rod pulls the bone ever so sloghtly everyday, done with a little device you click 3 times a day). Hes said he still feels pain and he will forever, hes strong though đ

Pain level-10x10!
As a nurse he has phantom limb pain and only mirror therapy would help
Nerve damage here too and 6 is a good day 10 is tears
Just because he aint screaming doesnt mean it aint the most painful thing he's ever felt, because after a certain point youd just get used to it, that does not make the pain level go down, it takes a lot of exposure to that level of pain to build up that strong of a pain tolerance, it just means he stopped screaming over it
Lmfaoo I feel him, that was me when I had my amputation (still dealing with it) so it was the surgery combined with my chronic pain from my burns plus with the wound vac đđ€Ł phantom limb pain sucks frfr

Yes. My hubby had a below the knee amputation 3 years ago. It was MADDENING that they refused to address his pain if it wasn't 8 hours from the last dose.
It's like, dude. He just had a limb sliced off. Nerves severed and bones sawed through. Why would you NOT want him to not be in pain.
He came home on zero pain meds. And he was miserable for at least 3 months. And then again when he started with the prosthetic.
I think doctors and nurses need to have that level of pain simulated so they have a greater understanding.
I don't blame him. It will be 10 for the rest of my life.

Amputation pain is completely different than other kinds of trauma pain. This is too common, and patients need to be listened to
Your title is very misleading. This isn't the 1800's. He will definitely walk again.
You don't know if he can afford prosthetics or his financial situation
Naw I couldnât imagine. But you know heâs on some strong meds

Even if the pain fluctuates.. Youre only letting him go up to ten! Its probably waaaaaay higher
and he'll have phantom pain to deal with for the rest of his life
They definitely had to keep asking me after my back surgery. It was only after the second surgery that they finally realized that for whatever reason, I have a resistance to morphine but not oxycodone. I ended needing far less pain meds when they stopped upping the morphine with no effect. Weird
