Great review and very informative. Now if only I could decide because this will be my first EDC purchase and both have their pros and cons. Ugh I hate when I can't make up my mind. LoL
For EDC use the pd35 tac, in my opinion, is better! It is slimmer and you can feel that in the pocket for sure. It also uses an 18650 battery AND has a secondary option for 2 disposable cr123a batteries, whereas the pd36r uses only a 21700. However the pd36r has a charging port in the flashlight itself whereas the pd35 tac doesn't. There is an alternative option, of a rechargeable pd35 however that one doesn have the TAC mode which is the main benefit to the pd35 tac. So it's basically up to what you are preferring and looking for!
Just set the PD36R to turbo at night or in high crime areas. That’s just my default… other than that the pd36r is an AWESOME light and the sweet spot for high powerful lumens and efficiency of usable light time with the bigger 21700 5000mah battery.
IMHO that tactical mode is not the best implementation. In a tight situation you fumble with the tail switch and find yourself on a low output, not good. A better option would be turbo-only and no mode switch at all with (or maybe hold for 2sec to get strobe and that's it).
Yeah, a great light is the thrunite tt20 which is very similar to PD36R, and the rear button is turbo only. Also when you use that rear button, the side switch isnt operable.
I think it's perfect. By default, I leave it in tactical mode when on duty so I have instant access to turbo mode with one click and the ability to quickly switch to strobe with a soft click. It's gotten me out of several sticky situations, and I now I never leave home without it.
Great review. You shared the important information.

The PD36R sounds like Olight Warrior 3 I just got!
Great review Rouge, which light do you feel has the tighter beam pattern and which one offers more spill? Thanks!
