When I was looking for Mylar bags and Oxygen absorbers I researched many companies but it was only when I spoke to Ola did I really understand how it all works. She advised me what size of bags to get, thickness vs longevity, what each size bag really holds and what CC of Oxygen packs I had to use for each size bag. I started to ask the life span of various foods, dehydrated fruits, Pulses and grains. I was impressed and excited to learn from her 30 years of experience in food preparation. I also believe that is why she made these videos so everyone can benefit as I did.
Thank you Ola.
So true, l prefer 12 cup's or a bit less in the gallon mylar also.

I just subscribed and shared.
God bless you and yours.
Hi OLA this is Sherril, we found you this looks great to gain more info. for us as we take care of what is needful....love in Christ Sherril....
That's the second video during which you dropped the lid into the bag. It's funny, and I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing because I frequently drop a bag or some of its contents when I pour it into a container. Although you drop the lids, sometimes, because you're first priority is staging what you're doing for the camera - and I have no such excuse - lol.
Thank you 😊 your information was very helpful 🏡😊🐶❤️😺
Great video great job stay well
Thank you, this is one of the best videos I have watched explaining everything for a newbie. Just bought my bulk stuff today at Sam's Club, I just need to order the mylar bags. Did you freeze your rice first? What type of storage container did you use?
There is no need to freeze the food ahead of time. I can’t breath without oxygen nor can a Weevil
Get a good quality one like the black with yellow lids or the clear ones with the handles that lick the lid in
@@pandemicprepsters5222 LOL - I put my rice in the freezer just once, then realized I don't want weevils, alive OR dead. Then I watched a video that said to put a bay leaf on top. So now I put the rice in an airtight jar with a bay leaf on top. BUT I have a feeling if anyone knows if that works, it would be you.
How many pound of beans would this hold?
I put minute rice that I use regularly and not for long term storage, on my kitchen shelves, in a plastic bag in a metal or heavy plastic coffee can that I cleaned well. Is that okay? Can I also prep minute rice for long term storage? I'm thinking how to save water and fuel (because minute rice cooks with less water and faster) when the SHTF.
PS: Just a thought - if I put an oxygen absorber into the coffee can, or even with regular rice in an airtight jar, would that work? Thank you.
Yes, it would take less energy to cook it!
@@marlene-rr2ih it is metal and glass that works best since oxygen can not penetrate those two things. So glass jars with love metal lids is best for counter or pantry life extending for longer term. Plastic is okay for shorter term but over time oxygen can penetrate plastic since plastic is porous
@@pandemicprepsters5222 I’m confused. Heard some preppers that soda plastic bottles are ok for long storage cause it’s made to hold soda to keep the fizz in. Confused now.

You can store into liter bottles but not for decades. The only thing that oxygen cannot penetrate is metal and glass. Plastic overtime breaks down and oxygen can penetrate. So if you wanna store beans and rice in there for 3 to 5 years perfectly OK I really would not store longer than five years I would definitely put that in either mason jars or mylar bags. The other choice you have is vacuum sealing them and then placing in like a 5 gallon bucket. I still like to use an oxygen absorber in the bucket and/or the vacuum bags. Vacuum sealing in 5 gallon buckets or Just storing the rice directly in the bucket you can get at least 10 years to 15 years. The key is going oxygen free. It is only when you’re oxygen free that you’re able to take something and stop the nutritional loss through oxidation as well as a staleness factor.
You can't fill it to about an inch or two from top?
I like leaving about 3 to 4 inches to allow easy sealing.
when i add the oxy absorbers to the mason jars they sweat inside! 😬😬😬
Yes because they are removing the oxygen from the jar. I like using rice as a filler so they don’t have to work so hard!.
why do some brick and some do not???
Nitrogen is 78 % of the air we breathe and oxygen is 21
I burped some and didn’t burp others….they all decreased in size.
Don't really need the music.
